Midnight Moments ♡
[Plot] Puddlemask and Coffeefinch have best friends since they met at apprentices at their first gathering. They always look forward to seeing each other again at the full moon, but recently things have changed between the two cats. They both start to see themselves as something more than friends but the only problem is that they live in different clans. Puddlemask resides in Darkclan, while Coffeefinch lives in Sageclan. Will they be able to stay apart, or will they have take the chance of getting caught together? How will they stay together if their clans pull them apart?

Coffeefinch ♡
Coffeefinch made her way through the territory that was known as Sageclan's. She was walking side-by side with her brother, Umbergaze. Marigoldwing was closer to the front of the group of cats as the only medicine cat of Sageclan. It had been a shock when only a moon prior Hailsprint had passed away, leaving the young Marigoldwing as Sageclan's sole caretaker. He seemed to be doing well, but Coffeefinch couldn't be sure. Her brother had a way to mask his emotions in a way where she couldn't even read them.
Now they had arrived to the gathering clearing, it was large, larger than Sageclan's camp, but it still felt small once all the cats had arrived. It was kind of weird how the space filled up so perfectly. At the current time, Darkclan had not arrived yet. Coffefinch felt a shiver of disappointment, but they would arrive. They had too! Scanning the cats in her own clan, Coffefinch made her way over to where Leafsplinter was. The older tom had been her mentor, a young warrior at the time. "When do you think Darkclan is going to arrive?" She asked, hoping she wasn't giving much away. She just wanted to see her friend after all! Everycat had a friend in the other clan, it was practical, and it helped to keep the peace between the two clans. "I'm not sure, probably soon." Leafsplinter said, glancing at her and giving her a quick smile.

Ravenstar 𓍼ོ
Ravenstar stood at the entrance of Darkclan camp, waiting for their clan to gather. They had had Fallenflame pick most the cat who could go, Ravenstar had already gotten information that all the apprentices could go, as they had been doing well training for the last moon. Looking out at their clan, Ravenstar decided it was time to go. They were sure that Sasgeclan would be there soon, as the other clan usually got their before Darkclan did. Ravenstar suspected that this was because there territory was clearer than Darkclan's, making it easier for them to get to the gathering place quicker. "Everycat that is going to the gathering, it is now time to leave!" They called, leaving camp. They knew their clanmates would follow.
Making their way at the head of their clan, Ravenstar made their way through Darkclan's rocky terrain. With time, they arrived. Ravenstar had been right, Sageclan had already arrived, but them and Oakstar would let the two clans mingle before they started the news. Nodding to the cats of Darkclan, they made their way into the hollow. Ravenstar made their way over to Oakstar.
"Greetings Oakstar, how are you doing today?" They asked, sitting down beside the Sageclan tom, who had been watching his clan. Now the two clans were greeting the other, catching up on things they hadn't been able to share last gathering.

The large dark ginger tom had been sitting on the large moss-covered stone as he waited for Darkclan to arrive. He looked around at his own clan. His warriors that he had brought with him were mingling as they waited for the other clan to arrive. He soon heard the sound of pawsteps as Darkclan padded into the clearing. He waves his tail in greeting as Ravenstar joins him on the speaking stone. "I was beginning to think you weren't going to show," he purrs, his voice laced with amusement. "I've been well. And you?" He wraps his thick tail around his paws, waiting for an answer from the other leader. While they spoke he let his gaze flit around to the cats below for a moment
Wormpaw // with darkclan apprentices
Wormpaw has been sitting talking to his mentor when he suddenly spotted the 3 apprentices from the other clan and eagerly made his way over. "Hello! I see all of you were able to come! Mothpaw had to stay behind, he was tired from doing training today" he informed the other apprentices as he sat down beside them. "How has your guy's training been going?" He perked his ears as he asked the question.
Ivyspirit // open for interaction
The tri-colored tom was sitting down grooming his fur. He was excited for the gathering to start, as Oakstar would reveal that his mate had given birth to their two perfect kits. He puffed his chest proudly as he thought of them, a purr rising in his throat. He spotted Darkclan walking into the clearing and he stands up and shakes out his fur, knowing the gathering would soon start. He made his way over to see if there was any cat up for a conversation

Puddlemask // with Coffeefinch and Leafsplinter
The young tom made his way to the gathering, walking next to his younger brother Barkpaw. Rainpaw was with Codpaw somewhere in their group walking to the gathering. "You excited to see the other apprentices?" He asked the apprentice, trying to make conversation. He himself was excited to see Coffeefinch again, but it's not like he was going to tell that to Barkpaw. He barely heard his brother's reply as they made it into the clearing. He spotted the familiar brown fur of Coffeefinch and trotted over, his tail raised in greeting. "Hello Coffeefinch! Hello Leafsplinter!" He purred, making sure to greet the older tom as well. Although his focus was mainly on Coffeefinch, and the way the moonlight shone on her fur
Midnightfern // with Marigoldwing
The older dark furred tom spotted the younger medicine cat almost as soon as he padded into the clearing. He made his way over, giving a nod of greeting. "Good evening, Marigoldwing. How have things been in Sageclan? Everything going smoothly?" He asked, knowing that the death of Hailsprint had been sudden and left the tom alone as medicine cat. He could imagine how tough that was, and he wanted to make sure that Marigoldwing knew he could ask him for help or guidance if needed.
(Fallenflame, Copperscorch, Rainpaw, Barkpaw, and Solardapple are there too)

Coffefinch ♡
Coffeefinch turned, smiling when she saw Puddlemask. Darkclan had finally arrived! Glancing at Leafsplinter, Coffeefinch stopped herself from twining her tail with Puddlemask or nuzzling him. They weren't in a relationship, but she didn't want anyone to suspect them. It had happened before, cats who had fallen in love and had faced the consequences. They had been forced to choose a clan to stay in, and half the time they left all together. But that wasn't what she felt for Puddlemask, and he surely didn't feel that way towards her. They were just good friends from different clans.
Leafsplinter excused himself once silence fell on them all, heading towards another group of senior warriors. "How has Darkclan been? Lilysong recently gave birth to kits earlier this moon! How are Rainpaw and Barkpaw?" She asked, nuzzling Puddlemask. Rainpaw and Barkpaw were his siblings, and he had even more on the way. It was unlike her family, where her mother had only had one litter of three kits with Oakstar. His family was going to be huge! "More importantly, how are you doing?"
Softfang ❀
Softfang's tail flicked back and forth, her good ear searching for sounds. No Darkclan yet. Sageclan was usually first to get to the gathering, which meant that it was custom for Darkclan to leave first. For once in her life Softfang wanted to leave first! Getting to a gathering first wasn't that bad, you just mingled with your clanmates then you mingled with the other clan. Leaving however was different. You wanted to return to camp and share what you had learned with your friends and family. She stomped her foot angrily, just as Ravenstar appeared, bringing their clan behind them. Finally!
To Softfang's credit, she waited a minute or two before making her way over to Fallenflame, Darkclan's deputy. "Hello Fallenflame." She said, sitting beside the white flecked tom, her good ear to him, of course. They were sitting where they would sit during the gathering, their backs to the large rock. Ravestar and Oakstar were talking on stop of it, surveying their clan from time to time. "I hope you had a good time getting down to the gathering, as usual." Marigoldwing 𖤣
Marigoldwing had not been in the right mind state since Hailsprint had passed. He was young, super young. He was supposed to have Hailsprint with him until he was older@ Until he was ready! He wasn't ready. He wasn't sure he would ever be ready. Hailsprint had been much a good medicine cat! How would Marigoldwing even live up to that?
Moments passed in a blur and Marigoldwing couldn't remember the last time he had had a meaningful conversation. He had talked with Oakstar, Umberblaze, and Coffeefinch much since Hailsprint had passed, and he had even help Lilysong give birth to two kits earlier in the moon, so he had talked to her as well. But in those conversations he had been more focused on making sure he was level and that his expression was good than the words he was saying. I just need to get over it!
"Oh yes, everything in Sageclan is going well. Lilysong gave birth to two healthy kits and we have two new apprentices. Luckily, no cat is sick or hurt, but Jayfin keeps coming to the medicine den complaining of aching joints!" Marigiodwing finished that off with a short laugh that quickly died. Wingpaw ₊⊹
Wingpaw had stayed at Wormpaw's heels all the way down to the gathering, not caring if the older apprentice cared or not. It was his first gathering as an apprentice! He was going to meet Darkclan! He wasn't sure if he should be scared or not, but Wormpaw seemed pretty calm. Turtlepaw had told him to stay away from Wormpaw and let him have his own time, but why would he do that? Wormpaw would lead him to all of his Darkclan friends! So far, all Wormpaw had been doing was sitting next to his mentor, but Darkclan wasn't here yet! Turtlepaw was also staying close to her mentor, but Wingpaw didn't want to. They had told him to make friends, so that is what he was going to do! Finally Darkclan arrived, and Wormpaw got to his paws, making his way over to three Darkclan apprentices. Wingpaw, of course, followed him. He slowed down before he joined the group of cats, feeling nervous. Would they even like him? Well, he was doing well here! Maybe he would just rest here and... listen to them! Yes, that would work! (I'll get my Darkclan cats up next! Out of my Sageclan cats, Softfang, Marigoldwing, Leafsplinter, Umberblaze, Coffeefinch, Wingpaw, Turtlepaw and Jayfin are there. Wingpaw is also such a sweetie to love him <3 so real of him to just... chicken out at the last second. For future responses would you like me to tag you or not? 《🎄○●cøpper●○🎄》 ) also, I'm going to set mentor-apprentice pairs up because I forgot to do that when I set up the main page- do you have any ideas or requests for mentors?) |

Ravenstar laughed softly, their eyes twinkling. "Now that would just be disrespectful wouldn' t it?" They said. The only times the two clans didn't have gatherings were when they were at war, which almost never happened. The last battle between Darkclan and Sageclan had happened when the elders' when they were a kit were apprentices. So very long ago. Ravenstar couldn't help but notice that they were getting older too, and with only two lives left... they might have a Fallenstar in the future. Don't meddle in that now. I still have lots of time yet. "I, and they entirely of Darkclan is doing well. Larksun is due to have her kits very soon Midnightfern says. He didn't tell me, but I think he's hoping for another apprentice. Shame what happened to Ryesight." Ryesight had been Midnightfern's only other apprentice, and he had excelled. Sadly, he had given his life at a young age quarantining after a redcough outbreak, where Ravenstar themself had lost a life. They had watched the young cat work hard before succumbing to the sickness as well. Ravenstar shook their head sadly. "I'm sorry for what happened to Hailsprint. How is Marigoldwing holding up?" They asked. Marigoldwing was Oakstar's son, along with the warriors' Coffeefinch and Umberblaze.[hope it's okay I added those little details!]
Opalshard ☽
Opalshard nodded to each Sageclan warrior that caught her eye, until the warrior Riverspark entered the clearing. The two had talked at previous gatherings, the grey she-cats forming sort of a... should she dare say friendly bond? It didn't matter. She would throw away any friendship for her clan, and even though the two clans hadn't fought in seasons, there was always a chance. She didn't want to feel guilty about fighting a friend on the battlefield.
"Greetings, Riverspark. I trust your moon has been well?" She asked, her stiff façade showing. Was it really even a façade anymore? It seemed being still was all she did. Just the best Darkclan warrior she could be. Maybe I'll even be deputy one day. That would make my mother proud.
Rayfoot ࿔
Rayfoot kept close- but not to close (of course!) to Solordapple. She would never admit it to anyone, but she did have a small crush on the handsome bengal tom. Who wouldn't? He was sweet and always brought prey back from hunting patrols. He spent his time wisely and never wasted it, always doing what she thought was right. Because if Solordapple was doing it, it must be right, right?
Now he was alone, it was her chance to make him see... her! "Hey Solardapple, thinking of talking to a Sagelcan cat?" She asked, trying to keep her tone casual. Be cool Rayfoot. Be cool. Codpaw 𓆞
Codpaw had stayed with Rainpaw all the way to the gathering, while Barkpaw had made his way to talk to his older brother, Puddlemask. The two apprentices had chatted about seeing Mothpaw and Wormpaw again, two Sageclan apprentices. Making their way into the clearing, they quickly found Barkpaw, and was shortly joined by Wormpaw, who explained Mothpaw wasn't coming today. "Well that's okay! At least you're here!" He said, smiling. "Who's that cat behind, you, the orange one with white socks? Don't think I've seen him before." A smile crossed his face. "Do you have an admirer?" Codpaw joked.

Rainpaw and Barkpaw Rainpaw had been eager to come to the gathering and see her friends. She was a little bummed when Mothpaw wasn't there, but she understood why he had stayed behind. She had honestly wished Barkpaw would have stayed behind, as he was in one of his worse moods tonight. He sat next to her, silently sulking. She perked her ears as she met the new apprentice of Sageclan. "Hello! It's nice to meet you, Wingpaw!! Don't pay any mind to Barkpaw, he's like this with everyone!" She glances at her brother, her gaze teasing yet affectionate.
Barkpaw had not wanted to come to the gathering. He felt like he had been way overworked with his training recently and he felt like his paws were going to fall off. But if he were to complain everyone would get upset with him for doing so. He watched the new apprentice approach with Wormpaw, giving him a slight glare. "Hi," he muttered. He knew he should be friendlier but he couldn't find it in him tonight. He envied how everyone else was in such good moods and yet he was left feeling miserable. He didn't know how to make himself feel better.
Solardapple The large golden-brown bengal tom had been excited to come to the gathering. It had been a while since he had come to one, and he was eager to see how his friends in Sageclan were doing. He stood alone in the clearing searching to see if he could spot any familiar pelts. Then he heard Rayfoot'a voice behind him and he turned around to look at her. He was always a little mesmerized by how unique she looked with her different colored eyes. He gives her a warm smile and raises his tail happily. "Hi Rayfoot! I might, I'm trying to see if I can spot anyone familiar. I'm not having much luck though," he chuckles softly, sitting down beside her. He did enjoy her company quite a lot.
Riverspark The dark grey she-cat perked up as she heard the familiar voice of Opalshard. The she-cat from the opposite clan had always been a little guarded, and Riverspark couldn't exactly blame her. "Hello, Opalshard! Lovely night, isn't it?" She looks up for a moment at the clear, star filled sky. "Things have been well! Lilysong recently had her kits!" She purrs happily at the mention of her clanmates accomplishment. It was always nice to have new life in the clan.
Oakstar The large tom flicks his ear in amusement as they speak of their medicine cat and his hopes for a new apprentice. "Oh I know how that can be. I remember just how eager Hailsprint could be when he was talking about mentoring Marigoldwing," his body sags slightly as he thinks of his past medicine cat who had lost his life far too early. He had left his son all alone to take care of the clan which had had a terrible effect on Marigoldwing. He could tell that his son often would second guess and doubt himself. "Marigoldwing has been turning out to be a fine medicine cat, I'm very proud of him and I'm sure Hailsprint would have been too" his chest puffs in pride as he informs Ravenstar about his son.
Wormpaw The fawn colored apprentice looked back to see Wingpaw watching him and the other apprentices from a few tail-lengths away. He grins and beckons him over. "Nah, that's just Wingpaw! He just got apprenticed this past moon! He's great, you should really get to know him!" As Wingpaw made his way over, Wormpaw gave him a friendly nudge. "Wingpaw, this is Codpaw, Rainpaw, and Barkpaw!" He introduces them all, hoping they would all get along. He knew how Barkpaw could be, and he hoped the tom would be friendly towards Wingpaw
Midnightfern The large tom could tell that Marigoldwing was extra down after the passing of his mentor. He wished he could help more, as he knew exactly how the young medicine cat was feeling. He had lost his own apprentice to redcough a few moons prior. He missed Ryesight dearly, and was hoping that maybe one of Larksun's new kits would be interested in becoming a medicine cat. "That's wonderful news about Lilysong! Congratulations! And I'm sure Jayfin is just getting up there in age. They'll be okay. I'm sure Hailsprint would be proud of the medicine cat you've become, you're doing a great job" he laid his tail on Marigoldwing's shoulder in a reassuring manner
Fallenflame Fallenflame had needed to be extra strict to get Barkpaw out of camp, causing them to be a little behind. The young tom had been in one of his sour moods, which was always a pain to deal with. He didn't know how Ravenstar did it. As they made their way into the clearing he immediately settled down at the base of the rock where he would be for the rest of the night. As Softfang approached he lifts his head to look at her. "Good evening, Softfang. Things went well, just Barkpaw being in one of his moods again. Other than that we would have been on time." He meowed, his ear flicking in annoyance as he spoke about the apprentice. "How are things with you?" He asks, making sure to direct his voice at her so she could hear him clearly
Puddlemask Puddlemask grins as Coffeefinch turns to him. It became even better as Leafsplinter headed to a group of different warriors, and Coffeefinch nuzzled him. A soft purr arose in his throat. "That's great news! It's always a blessing from Starclan for new life! Rainpaw and Barkpaw have been well! They've both been doing well on their training, and Barkpaw is grumpy as usual" he chuckles with amusement at the thought of his brother's sour attitude. As she directed the question back to him, he had to think for a moment. He had been missing her a ton, but he couldn't exactly tell her that. "I've been doing well! Prey has been running well, and I'm excited to meet Larksun's new kits soon!" He purrs, his tail wrapping around his paws. "How about you, how have you been doing?" He turns the question back around on her, his ears perked towards her

Coffeefinch smiled as Puddlemask talked. She did really like his voice. She wished the two clans got to see each other more often, only seeing Puddlemask once a moon wasn't enough. Sometimes one of them wasn't even allowed to go to a gathering, and then they had to wait two moons!
"I'm doing well, and so is Sageclan! I missed you though. I wish we could see each other more than just once a moon." Coffeefinch admitted, her tail dropping. "But we have to relish out moments together! Maybe it makes us even better friends, since we're not together all the time." But... wouldn't that be nice? If we could be together all the time? Did all cats feel this way about friends from the other clan? Or... is this a different feeling? Softfang ❀
Softfang hissed inwardly. How did Fallenflame not pick up on her hints? He seemed to completely dodge her insult, taking it literally and answering that instead. His natural calmness always annoyed her. Well, she could play nice, if that was what Fallenflame wanted.
She almost rolled her eyes at the mention of Barkpaw, Ravenstar's apprentice. Why was Fallenflame even dealing with him? He didn't have an apprentice at the moment, unlike her. Mothpaw hadn't come to the gathering today, having worked too hard during battle training earlier today.
"Things are fine for me, as well as for Sageclan. Petalgaze's kits are now apprentices, and Wormpaw and Mothpaw's training is going very well." Softfang's expression remained clear, the only emotion peeking through was pride. Marigoldwing 𖤣
Marigoldgoldwing smiled at Midnightfern. He hadn't really opened up with any other cat since Hailsprint passed, but he knew he should have, at least to his littermates, or his father. Maybe not to his clanmates as a whole, but he had pushed his family away. Hailsprint wouldn't have wanted that. "Thank you Midnightfern, you truly made me feel better. And your probably right about Jayfin!"
Marigoldwing just ha to remember that he wasn't the first, or last cat to deal with sorrow. Midnightfern had lost an apprentice after all. "Do you think your going to get another apprentice soon? I hear Larksun is expecting, do you think one of them will choose the path of a medicine cat?" He asked. Turtlepaw 𓆉 How did Wingpaw connect with other cats so easily? It wasn't fair how he could just say hello and everyone would like him! She had so much trouble even opening her mouth, because what if what she said was stupid? What if she got something wrong in front of the other apprentices? What if they hated her?!
But she was sitting alone, and Wingpaw was hanging out with three Darkclan apprentices! Wormpaw had invited him to join them after all, and it didn't seem they hated him or anything. But no, no. I'm not going over there. Ha! Imagine!
"- and that's my sister Turtlepaw! She's great! Come over here, Turtlepaw!" Wingpaw exclained after introducing himself to the group. A hint of anger struck her gaze, why did he have to be so embarrassing?! Well, she had no choice now. Padding over to the group of apprentices, Turtlepaw's eyes flashed with nervousness. "Hi... I'm Turtlepaw, As you already know of course! Because of this mouse-brain!" She bumped Wingpaw in the side, making him stumble slightly, but he regained his balance and kept on smiling, as he always did.

Ravenstar 𓍼ོ "That's great!" Ravenstar mewed. They hadn't been able to have kits, and now they just didn't want them. They didn't have a mate and was just too old. Not that they were elder-old, they could still fight and hunt, but grey hair was starting to grow around their muzzle and tail-tip. They planned on retiring once they were too old to care for Darkclan.
"It's nice that you got to have kits, I bet your very proud of them. Forgive me, but could you point out the other two? I remember that you have three kits, yes?" Ravenstar asked. They remembered when Oakstar had announced their apprenticeship start and when they had gotten their names, the look of pride on his face was something Ravenstar wasn't quick to forget.
Opalshard ☽ "Yes... the night sky is clear tonight, good for a gathering." Opalshard said, her voice hesitant. Riverspark's voice was enthusiastic, something Opalshard couldn't quite match. Something she had never been able to match. "Well that's great about Lilysong! Us in Darkclan are going to have kits soon as well, Larksun's belly is growing quite big nowadays." Opalshard remarked. Always good to share about kits, they brought more strong warriors and showed Sageclan that Darkclan wasn't weak. Rayfoot ࿔ Rayfoot smiled at Solardapple. "I'm sorry! I usually hang out with Poolheart at gatherings and his friend Sageclan friends, but I never felt I fit in with them. Poolheart isn't here anyways so..." She shrugged. Am I rambling? Does he want to talk? Am I messing things up?! She really hoped that he didn't hate her now! That would really suck, if she had accidentally offended him or anything! If she had done that, she might run away, because that would be embarrassing!
