The Land Under the Thousand Stars
Somewhere in the south of Ireland is a largely untouched field, stretching from a forested hill to a large, misty lake to a cliff edge overlooking the ocean. Since time forgotten this land was under the care of wild cats. Some may say that there was once a time when all cats were under the same clan, while others insist they were once roamers who settled in the area on their own, and few may even whisper of a power both unnatural in ability and yet as natural as the whiskers on their face that brought them into being. The answer is unknown for sure.
What is known is that now the cats live in their own factions, and not so long ago--at least not long enough for the oldest elders to have forgotten--there cold and bloody war between the cats. Throughout the numerous battles, many of the clan cats lost their lives. The once enormous cat kingdoms were reduced by more than half their numbers, and the sky became bright with the souls of the dead. Some believe that the cats would have ultimately taken one another out to the very last kit if not for the coming of the two-legs, who took their dead and began to capture cats en masse, and caused the clans to hide in their own territories.
The cats are still recovering to this day and their once untouched lands are shared with a growing number of two-leg nests.
Willowclan - Adaptable & Strong
Willowclan is what I consider my main clan. It's the clan that is the most thought out and most of my stories take place within this territory.
Willowclan is situated within the trees up on the hillside of the clan territories. Beneath a large willow with exposed roots, the clan makes their home. Two particularly large roots encircle the entrance and the tree itself has been dug out enough to provide shelter from the rain. A boulder acts as the meeting place for the clan cats and the hollow beneath it serves as the leader's den. Most Willowclan cats are noted for being very flexible and adaptable creatures, not ones for strict attitudes. This flexibility has made for a clan that is quick to act, but not the most strategic or cautious lot as a whole.
Mistclan - Stealthy & Independent
Making their home in the fen between the hillside and the lake, Mistclan's territory is wet but plentiful in both prey and herbs. This makes up for the common fog that rolls in, making visibility difficult, and the sickness that can easily spread in such conditions. Mistclan makes their home on the bank of the river amongst fallen logs and thick weeds. A particularly large hollow log that split in two is used for most of the dens. An abandoned barrel works as both the meeting area and the leader's den. Often called cutthroat, Mistclan cats are known for their resolve and underhanded tactics. They've familiarized themselves with their territory and will often use it to sneak into Willowclan to hunt, only to disappear back into the fog when danger comes.
Mireclan - Hardy & Cautious
Originally there were only two clans, but Mireclan came to be after a group of clan cats found themselves trapped on an island in the middle of the lake when a storm caused the waters to rise. The island is small and boggy, but rich in prey and herbs. Many of the cats who have since been born here have developed webbed toes. Though the depth of the lake was thought to be too much to swim, recently the waters have reseeded enough to be crossed and at certain times a land bridge can be found. Mireclan has eked out their own portion of territory across the lake, but still mostly stick to their island as a highly defensive territory that the other clans wont follow them into.
Rogue Cats
The Rogue band of cats have existed in the Land of a Thousand Stars nearly as long as the clan cats have- some would argue longer. For a time they were seen more as nuisances, scavengers who stole from the clans while they were busy fighting one another. They stole food, territory, and even kits. When the Two Legs came, the rogues were the first to lay low and little has been seen of them for a while. However, in recent times they've become much stronger than ever before and seek to do far more than steal scraps. The Rogue cats are always moving, but are currently camped on a rocky cliffside cut into a hill just on the other side of the clan cat borders above the ocean. It's cold, wind carries salt, and they are often at risk of large birds.
Edenmoor Village
Barely more than a hamlet, Edenmoor is a small farming village found somewhere in Ireland. It mostly deals in sheep farming, but over the past decade smaller shops and services have sprung up as the village has grown. Visually, it's picturesque and quaint, with cobblestone paths and walls, sprawling green fields and simple folk living simple lives. The people of Edenmoor have great respect for cats and have developed a folklore around the cats who lived here before they did. Recently there has been a controversy growing in the village in whether or not to trap and/or sterilize the wild cats who they've long left alone, with some feeling it is the best thing for the environment and others wanting to continue to let the cats live their own lives. The Kittypets and Loners who live within the area of Edenmoor have a loose respect and truce between one another, with one kittypet in particular having taken the title of cat queen.
Sacred Grounds
The sacred grounds for the Thousand Stars Clans are found on the Eastern side of the lake. A shiny, flat black rock sits in the middle of a field covered in star-shaped etchings. They see it as a piece of starclan having fallen and turned to stone. Visiting cats sleep on top of the rock when seeking guidance from Starclan. Recently a fence has gone up around it by two-legs after it was defaced.
Meeting Grounds
Between the clan territories and the Sacred Grounds is the Heart Tree, a twisted old Beech tree where the cats gather beneath in the branches. The tree hosts reddish foliage, leading to the name Heart Tree.

A Willowclan DeepdiveAs I briefly mentioned, Willowclan is my primary clan in many the same ways that Thunderclan is considered the primary clan in the Warrior Cats canon. It's the clan I have mostly fleshed out and planned for and many of my favorite cats belong in Willowclan. However, I don't find it particularly unique as a setting. Forest cats can sum them up mostly. Instead, I've tried fill that blank slate setting with more varied and unique personalities and some small eccentricities. TerritoryWillowclan's territory mostly consists of a large, forested hill with tall, ancient trees. Aspens, birch, elder, cherry, and ash trees among many other types make up the forest. It's a large territory and with their much reduced numbers, defending it has become difficult. Water is also harder to come by here, where the territory lacks it's own dedicated and constant water source. With no river or ponds to rely on, they've instead gotten very good at gathering water in dug out, compacted holes, interesting shapes rocks, and large leaves. The forest itself can be seen as eerie as the sun begins to set, even to the cats who live there and ghost stories are told about it by both two-legs and cats alike. Notable areas within are: The Overlook, a side of the hill to the northwest that is a steeper drop than the rest and has a view of Edenmoor Village. Echo Cave, a small crevice near the eastern side of the hill that is considered very dangerous and a home to bats. Crooked Sisters, two dead trees that are often central in ghost tales. Many cats feel unsettled here but they also provide a decent perch looking out toward the lake and territories of the other two clans. Hillsteppes, the side of the hill that leads down to the field and Mistclan territory. While it's technically Willowclan's territory, it's harder to defend and border scraps often happen here. CampLending to their name, the clan's camp is found in the embrace of a very large willow tree. Thick, twisting roots mostly encircle the area, fortified with branches and dirt. Most of the dens are actually dug out beneath the the tree, with the spiderweb of roots giving structural integrity and defense from anyone trying to dig in. The medicine den, nursery, and elder's den are burrows like this, while the warriors den can be found up in the split of the bough of the tree. While the camp isn't the most defensive, the willows stretching branches provide plenty of areas to keep lookout for intruders on any side, while it's curtain of leaves keeps the cats within obscured from any outside eyes. The nursery is a newer addition, with it formerly being found in a small hollow of the tree near the base. After numerous attacks, the den became unsafe and a new nursery was made. The former nursery is used as an additional space for warriors. The medicine cat's den consists of four chambers, with the injured and ill cats in the two deepest chambers. These two infirmary dens are rotated between uses to air out any lingering illness or disease. The entry chamber is where the medicine cat can often be found, lending both for them to be aware of the goings ons in the camp and as protection for any incapacitated cats within. The final, smaller chamber is the storage area for herbs and poultices. Small, flat stones and mushrooms act as shelves and tables to organize the supplies kept here. In the center on the camp is a large boulder, half gripped by the roots of the tree. Dug down between the roots and beneath the boulder is the leader's den. The boulder itself is used as the meeting space for the Willowclan cats. The Freshkill pile is located between some smaller boulders and bushes that also serves as partial cover for the entrance to the elder's den which is the shallowest of the subterranean dens, though it's single chamber is the largest. Prey & PredatorsThe lush forest is full of prey. Mostly small mammals like squirrels, mice, rabbits, and hedgehogs, but also songbirds and some lizards. As for predators, the cats main forest enemy are foxes who also call the area home. One of the good things with the two-legs moving in is a reduce in the fox population, but they still prove to be a serious danger to the clan cats. Occasionally bears may also visit, and almost yearly a lynx or two will wander through. While the bears will always send the cats into hiding, the lynxes have a very tenuous truce with the clan cats. Speaking of shaky relationships, the bats of Echo Cave are considered unstable at best and to be avoided. While they can bring great information and have on occasion proved to be useful, they also risk bringing illness to the cats and are marked as off limits as prey. Common Strengths & ValuesWith their home consisting mostly of trees and dirt, the cats of Willowclan are excellent climbers as well as diggers. They've come to understand how to use different soil types like clay to their advantage in a variety of ways. These cats are often seen as highly adaptable, even though they have one of the most untouched of territories. They're usually easy going, following clan code but not to an extent that hamstrings them. An example of this is their recent acceptance of an unknown cat among their numbers and having been very open to the idea of a third clan when Mireclan makes their presence known. They've come to view the previous war as a tragedy and will do their best to avoid further death. Many of the cats of Willowclan are also thick-furred, and large, with patterned pelts to further help them blend into the thick flora that makes up their territory, though this is not a rule for all cats. Common Weaknesses & Detractors
With their more lax ways many of the cats in Willowclan can be described as less than subtle. They often speak their mind and aren't ones for subterfuge. When they fight they prefer to do it head on and can be naive in accepting a cat at their word. They're also superstitious, with some cats having particular rituals or ways of doing things to avoid upsetting some mysterious ghost or entity. This can make them look like fools to cats outside the clan. As stated before, their camp isn't the most fortified and has often been the victim of attacks by rogues and foxes. This in itself is a common problem, with the hill standing between most outsider cats like the rogues and the other clans, as well as being a home for foxes. While they prefer peace among cats and have a large, lush territory, they will often find themselves defending on all sides from outside threats. Clan CatsThis is not the final lineup for the cats. There are familial blanks and some info might change as the characters are fleshed out. This list will be updated as things change.Name | Rank | General Age* | Gender | General Description | Personality Traits | Relations | Icestar | Leader (6/9 lives) | Elder | Male | Big, fluffy white with scars | Wise, slow to act | Father to Silvermane, Mothfeather, and Mousehop | Silvermane | Deputy | Adult | Female | Fluffy, silver fur with stripes | Calm, good natured, and patient | Mate to Mooneye. Ranee The Cat QueenAll hail Ranee, Queen of the Village. While it doesnt mean much to the clan cats, Ranee is affectionately referred to as the Cat Queen by most of the housefolk in Edenmoor, but this is a title taken to a wider range of seriousness by the cats in and around the village, whether they be kittypets or loners. She's knowledgeable, capable, and fierce. Ranee wasn't always a kittypet. She was actually born on the streets in a different land in what the housefolk call a city. She learned to survive and defend herself through the school of hard knocks. During a terrible heatwave, Ranee was unable to find water and was near death when she was captured in a human cage and put in a place full of other cats in cages. She attacked anyone who tried to get close, including the girl who would later take her home. Ranee came to respect her human, a girl named Jj. The human and cat matched in intelligence, independence, and not taking a crap from anyone. With time Ranee came to understand most of what the humans were saying. For about a year Ranee happily lived in Jj's home, with occasional escapes to stay in the know with what was going on in the city. At some point Jj took Ranee and moved to Edenmoor. Although her human was unhappy with living in the middle of nowhere, Ranee enjoyed her newfound freedom where she could explore the village on her own and soon her expanse of outside and human knowledge earned her respect from the other cats in the village. She's even gained a begrudging respect from the Rogues, who would happily topple her from her throne if given the chance. Although the village cats rarely come into contact with the clan cats, Ranee is aware of them and fine with the distance. Having come from the streets, clan cas are new to Ranee and somewhat alien. Ranee tends to hold herself above others and avoids having "friends", though if she did have to name her closest confidant, it would be Domino-a loner with an easy-going nature who brings her news from outside the village. Spiderwhisker & Dreampaw
Spiderwhisker and Dreampaw are littermates birthed by Sootberry. They have an older brother named Robintail and an older cousin in Mooneye. Spiderwhisker is a wiry, young she-cat who enjoys exploring and telling ghost stories. She's a newly made warrior but counts Batsong as one of her best friends. When Batsong was made a warrior first, rather than be jealous, Spiderwhisker was in awe of the older cat. She's only recently gained her warrior name and was mentored by Mousehop. She's always gotten along with Mousehop and taken in some of his traits for gathering gossip and telling stories. Dreampaw is considered quieter than Spiderwhisker, but he's just as sarcastic and dry-witted. While he isn't meek, he's never been too interested in fighting. Ever since he was a kit he was prone to dreamwalking. Unlike his sister, Dreampaw wouldn't say he has a best friend. His closest would be Duststorm and later Whiskey, whom he developed a slight crush on. He doesn't mind his mentor Heatherheart's forgetfulness, though sometimes it worries him and he does his best to hide it from the rest of the clan so they dont come to doubt their medicine cat. He worries he wont be ready to become a medicine cat if she retires early. Art by Me

A Mireclan DeepdiveMireclan wasn't originally in my fanfiction and if/when I continue it will be retconned. I've always liked water-based clans and Mistclan was more... beachy, field cats than swimming cats. Some of my favorite OCs I decided I wanted to include didn't fit in either clan, so I retrofitted an rp clan I made into the third Thousand Stars clan.
The Cats of this clan only recently earned their names, with almost all of them being stuck as named apprentices when the older generation died, believing that while they had named a leader, without Starclan's blessing they were in no position to give an official name to any cat. They did however, upkeep the process in training and unofficially graduating to a warrior status where they were given further responsibilities. Due to this, when listing the cats in the clan, I'll be using their given warrior names and only mark them as newly made if they recently graduated out of being an apprentice, even if they all went by paw until recently. TerritoryConsisting of the smallest territory, most of Mireclan can be found on a small island in the middle of the lake. It's mostly marsh with only a handful of areas above the water level enough to have remained dry. The island itself is populated by wetland flora like alder trees and cattails, and although it is small, it hosts a variety of useful herbs that would be harder to find in the other territories. While the cats of Mireclan have learned to swim, at certain times the water level is low enough for a land bridge to be revealed. On the other shore, Mireclan has eked out just a bit more territory for themselves. While Mistclan was at first against giving up claim to the area, it was agreed to be fair when the clans first met to legitimize a third clan. Without this patch of dry land, the Mireclan cats would be unable to access the Meeting Grounds or the the sacred Skystone. Notable areas within are: The Elder Alder, a very large, old alder tree that is the tallest on the island. One of it's branches stretches over the lake and is used as a jumping off point when the cats must swim to the other shore or when practicing their swimming skills. The Plague Rocks, a set of partially sunken rocks. Since the land around is incredibly muddy, the rocks themselves aren't ideal for much and instead were used to partition cats from the rest of the clan during a very bad sweep of disease. The Sunstone, once belonging to Mistclan, the Sunstone is part of the territory given to Mireclan and is used to dry off after a swim. The Undercurrent, a particularly dangerous area where it's easy to be swept into a current and pulled under. CampUnlike the other clans, Mireclan doesn't need to worry about defending their camp from other clan cats. The path to the island is usually under water and if you aren't experienced in the trip across is can be easy to be caught in a current or struggle with a drop-off. Since they don't have to put as much effort into fortifying their camp, Mireclan instead focuses on keeping out the elements. If needed they will move to the Elder Alder in bad weather, but their usual camp consists of some fallen logs and stumps, surrounded by reeds. The nursery is the dryest of the dens, sharing a partially fallen hollowed out log with the elders. The nursery portion is inside the log, stuffed with various reeds and foliage to keep the cats off the ground. Cats can climb up and out of the log to leave, but young kits will have trouble pulling themselves up the whole way without tumbling back down. It's become a game for them to test their strength. Outside the log, situated in a split between a branch and the main log is a clumsily made bird nest where the elders stay. It is well off the ground though not safe from the rain. In bad weather the elders will usually go into the nursery to stay dry, covering the top with bits of branches. The medicine cat, a term only recently been given officially, can be found up in an old hollow once used by owls. While it's hard for injured or very ill cats to climb up into, it keeps the herbs dry. Instead, the medicine cat will usually go to the sick cat in one of the other dens. Due to the risk of disease spreading, there is a separate area away from the camp where very ill cats are kept. Apprentices can be found in a fallen log that isn't nearly as waterproof as the nursery log. In order to stay dry the bedding has to be changed daily or else they sleep on top of the log instead. This log also serves as the meeting spot for the clan. The rest of the cats take refuge on a variety of stumps, including the leader who sleeps with the warriors. One stump in particular is used to hold the fresh kill pile. Prey & PredatorsWhile the island isn't large enough to hold the variety that the other clans have, it does feature some frogs, birds, and the occasional water mammal. However, what by far makes up the majority of their diet are fish. Not many predators make their way out to the island, though they do have a run in with owls and hawks every so often as well as a rare visiting two-leg in a boat. Due to how little space they have to run and hide, a human coming to the island is much more dangerous for Mireclan than the others. Common Strengths & ValuesBy far the biggest strength Mireclan cats possess is their skill in swimming. This is further aided by many newer generation cats having been born with webbed toes. Having always been a very small clan, the cats of Mireclan are a cautious lot, never taking too many risks to better preserve the numbers they have. When something hits them, it affects them more than it would one of the larger clans, so they've developed a natural instinct for risk. They also are less likely to complain when something does go wrong and instead will buckle down and handle the problem. They are knowledgeable about the way the water works and have the endurance to cross specific portions of the lake to reach the other side, though they're still smart enough not to risk the long ways. These cats are also very humble, though not to a degree where they don't know their own value. They stood their ground on being recognized as a clan rather than be taken in by the others, but never did they assume they had been recognized by Starclan as official until the time came that they were. Common Weaknesses & Detractors
With how wet their territory is, disease spreads and festers quickly. In order to protect the healthy, Mireclan has developed a "for the greater good" mentality, even at the expense of the few. Sick cats will be moved away from the clan to keep the healthy from catching it, even if it means they have less a chance of recovery. Food can be scarce at times and bad weather will force the cats into buckling down in their dens over hunting. Clan CatsThis is not the final lineup for the cats. There are familial blanks and some info might change as the characters are fleshed out. Robintail The Broken Songbird Robintail was born in a litter of 3, considered the nail in the coffin for the trend in smaller litters across the clan cats. With Moonshadow and Whisperwind alongside him, they grew into adept warriors with bright futures. Moonshadow was the firstborn, the responsible one. A tall, black and white cat with pale, yellow eyes considered very handsome. He was the only other cat considered in the running for potential leader material beyond Silvermane. Then there was Whisperwind, delicate and pretty but confident and sure-footed with a strong sense of justice. Then there was Robintail. He was charismatic, bright eyed, and eager to prove himself, but aren't they all before it all goes wrong?
One evening while on patrol, Robintail and his siblings came across a group of Mistclan cats stealing prey from the edge of Willowclan territory. They immediately engaged, though the fight didn't last long, it did attract the attention of two-legs. Distracted by the fight, Robintail and two other Mistclan cats were grabbed in nets. Whisperwind was caught next, with little struggle due to a severe injury. Moonshadow had the chance to escape, but instead followed after his siblings, joining them in the cages that were taken to a strange two-leg nest that stunk of fearful animals.
Whisperwind was taken away from them, bleeding heavily from the throat.
Then the Mistclan cats, who had sustained some injury but nothing as deadly, were taken as well.
From another cage two cats huddled, claiming to be from a clan of cats on an island in the lake. This confused Robintail and Moonshadow, who had heard of no such clan. The residents of the various other cages told the brothers that any animal that had been taken back to where their sister and the Mistclan cats had always come back altered. Cut. Ultimately changed and eventually taken away by other two-legs. The injured were always taken first.
With this knowledge in mind, Robintail began to plan.
Eventually the two-legs came back, returning the Mistclan cats to their cage. They looked drowsy and out of it. They tried to ask about their sister but got no response. When the two-legs next moved to take the unknown clan cats, Robin put his half-baked plan into action.
He started to wretch and cough, drooling heavily before collapsing. One of the two-legs moved to open their cage quickly, half pulling Robintail out before the tom sprung back to life and wriggled free. In the distraction the strange clan cats also began to struggle, causing the two-leg to drop their cage and the wire door to bend just enough for them to slip out. Although groggy and drugged, even one of the Mistclan cats was able to claw at the two-leg holding them and desperately follow the others. Making their escape, Robintail turned toward the open fields only to realize Moonshadow wasn't following. Instead, his brother stood in the shadow of the two-leg nest calmly.
He wouldn't leave if there was a chance their sister was still there, and even if she wasn't, he couldn't leave the other cats.
Robintail wanted to stay and help, but Moonshadow insisted he return to Willowclan and warn their clan of the danger the twolegs presented.
With a heavy heart, Robintail did as his brother asked, joining the two strange clan cats and the Mistclan cat who identified herself as Crowthroat. Home was close. They could smell the lake air and see the forested hill in the distance. It would be a days travel at most, but with Crowthroat's condition, the cats were decided it was best to find a nearby place to hunker down.
Having a task to focus on gave Robintail a sense of purpose and with the help of the strange cats who called themselves Ripplepaw and Duskpaw, they did what they could to make Crowthroat comfortable. She was bleeding, something had torn by her belly. Ripplepaw claimed to have some knowledge in healing and took on the main duties of finding herbs and trying to stop the bleeding while Robintail and Duskpaw hunted for food and kept an eye out for two-legs.
It took time for Crowthroat to heal enough to move again and Robintail wished it had taken longer for the drugs to wear off. She was a bossy she-cat. He left her to Ripplepaw whenever he could and instead spent his time with Duskpaw. He found it strange that the two she-cats were still apprentices, although they seemed to be about his age and not at all lacking in skills. Duskpaw explained that the clan they were from was made up of cats who had gotten stuck on an island during the time of the Thousand Star War. They had no official leader or medicine cat and while new generations had been born, they had no way to officially take their warrior oaths. Nearly every cat in their clan went by the suffix -paw. The only cats with warrior names were elders now.
Duskpaw said that their clan would one day make themselves known, but for now remained on the island in the lake and would have stayed that way if not for the two-legs who came and trapped her and Ripplepaw.
Robintail came to enjoy his time with Duskpaw. She was easy to talk to, and while he had done well at ignoring the heavy feeling of loss with his siblings, he did one night find himself giving in to her comfort.
The cats stayed hidden for a quarter of a moon before making the trek back to their territories. Robintail offered for Duskpaw and Ripplepaw to join him in Willowclan, but they assured him they would be okay and slipped off back to the lake.
It would be several moons before Robintail saw them again. Having arrived at the gathering place, he and the rest of his clanmates were shocked at the arrival of strange cats claiming to be called Mireclan. Although that night saw many surprises, the most surprising was the sight of Ripplepaw. She was excited to see him, but mostly to bring news that Duskpaw was a mother to three kits. Their sire was a secret, with the cats having given a vague answer of it happening in the time they had been taken by two-legs. It wouldn't do well for their desire for legitimacy of Mistclan thought that Mireclan was hosting half Willowclan cats. Robintail agreed and the two parted ways.
Robintail, once lively and bright, has dimmed considerably. He's still got his charm, but become prone to moments of solemnity and "moping". There has been interest in him, particularly by Mothfeather, but ever since the meeting with the since named Rippletongue, Robintail has kept all prospects at a distance.
Until very recently, Robintail came to accept that he was not meant to have close family, even keeping his younger siblings at arms length.
One night A loner came into Willowclan territory seeking Robintail, a young cat trailing behind. The loner claimed to know Moonshadow and owed him a debt. Moonshadow had been vigilant in his duty at rescuing the other cats, though the process was slow. Robintail asked about the fate of his sister and the loner admitted that she had not survived for long after her capture, though one of her kits had survived. Not having realized his sister's state only made the loss all the harder.
It was then the loner introduced the young cat as Silentpaw- Whisperwind's daughter. It seems, in spite of his recent efforts, family would be thrust upon him. Art by Me

Mooneye Twice Born, Twice Fought, Twice NamedFor all the hardships Mooneye has had to endure, he's always been a pretty laid back cat.
When Mooneye was a kit, the nursery was still at the willow trees base, in the hollow. Unfortunately, the tragedy that befell his littermates was just the final straw in a series of misfortunes involving the hollow. Kits would sneak out and get lost, rogues would steal them or use it to access the camp, and this time, a fox would find it's way in to ravage the nursery.
At the time, Mooneye, then called Silentkit, was thought to be a mute.
He hadn't said a word in his one moon of being alive, not until that moment, when he let out a loud cry, alerting the warriors outside. They rushed in, driving out the fox. Sadly, it was too late for Silentkit's mother and littermates. With his father having disappeared several moons before, Silentkit was left without a family. Luckily, Briarshadow was going to have her kits soon and was happy to take Silentkit in.
Though he never saw Briarshadow or her kits as his real family, he did become close with his older cousin Moonshadow.
When Moonshadow and his siblings disappeared, Silentkit-now Silentstep-was determined to find him. He had grown into a capable warrior, perfectly fitting into his name as a hunter and a scout. Silentstep could glide through grass as quietly and effortlessly as a fish through water. That did not extend to hunting down missing cats.
It was during one of these impromptu searches that Silentstep found a different old face.
It was the fox. The kit killer.
Silentstep wasn't sure how he knew it was the same fox, but he knew.
Most would say Silentstep was a very relaxed cat, maybe even too relaxed at times. He rarely ever did more than what was asked of him. He entirely lacked a sense of ambition in spite of his natural ability.
Yet, at that moment, Silentstep took action without ever being told to. Perhaps it was his despair at having lost another brother more than the outright desire for revenge, but whatever it was, it drove Silentstep to attack the fox.
The battle was hard and more a battle of wits and stealth than brawn, with both animals weaving in and out of the shadows, taking snipes at one another. In the end, Silentstep was the victor, though it came at a terrible cost.
A patrol found him the following morning, covered in blood and trapped beneath the fox's body.
Heatherheart told him it would be a long recovery, but he would recover. There was a chance he would walk again, but one of his eyes would never regain sight.
Silentstep was a ghost of who he had been before. All he had in this world was gone. His family, his best friend, and now his ability to serve his clan.
Even when Robintail returned, Silentstep couldn't bring himself to leave the medicine den to greet him, and when he heard that Moonshadow wasn't returning even if he was alive, he couldn't bring himself to care.
As Heatherheart said, his body did recover, but not his mind. He sulked his days away until Silvermane finally came to smack sense back into him. She refused to let him waste away in the elder's den eating their food and not contributing. The words were harsh but they did the trick.
He had lost all his finesse, having become clumsy in his depression. Only having half his sight was hard enough to deal with, but on top of that he was rusty and stiff.
It took moons, but he did find a way that worked for him. He could fight, hunt, and his companionship with Silvermane had brought new life to him. Once more he was accepted into the warriors fold, but before he could come to terms with it himself he requested one thing. He didn't feel like the name Silentstep fit him anymore and he had now twice-over become a warrior. It was only fitting he got a new name. To honor his lost friend, Silentstep became Mooneye and has never looked back.
Mooneye remains a celebrated warrior of Willowclan. While he may not be the stealthiest or the most graceful-at least not as he had been once- he's an exceptional teacher. His laid back demeanor and experience make him perfect for passing down lessons to a new generation. And now that Silvermane is his mate, he hopes to one day contribute to that as well. A Mistclan DeepdiveMistclan was originally my "villain" clan, but has since received a bit of a glow up TerritoryMaking their home in the fen between the hillside and the lake, Mistclan's territory is wet but plentiful in both prey and herbs. Notable areas within are: The Drift Bank, a bank of the lake where items and trash often wash up. While some see it as being a place to search for interesting, new things, others caution the danger of what can be found there. The Stretch, A length of field leading to Willowclan territory where rabbits can be found grazing on clover. It's called the stretch because it's a race to catch prey before they cross the boundary. The Cloud Field, A field of sheep on the edge of Mistclan territory. The presence of dogs, humans, and other predatory animals have caused some young cats to see crossing the cloud field as a test of courage. The Bridge to Nowhere, what the cats call the docks, seeing it as a partial bridge leading further into the lake and nowhere in particular. It can be a good place to steal fish or sun when humans arent around. CampMistclan's camp's main source of defense is being hidden in a copse of cattails and brambles. The cattails can be picked apart to make soft bedding for the dens. UNFINISHED Prey & PredatorsBeing on the edge of a lake, fish are an option-though rarely caught by the Mistclan cats who lack the aquatic edge of Mireclan. Instead the majority of their food come from the banks in the form of muskrats and toads as well as the fields beyond which hold small mammals like rabbits and field mice. Unfortunately the field butts up against Willowclan's borderline and can lead to chasing prey over the boundary. As for predators, being so near the lake does invite all manner of creature like foxes, badgers, and dogs but also humans who will boat out onto the lake. Mistclan's Western edge has slowly been encroached on by human pastures for their farms as well. Common Strengths & ValuesMistclan is known for being fast, clever, and putting their self preservation first. While some cats may call that last trait a negative, they see it as doing what needs to be done for the betterment of their clan. UNFINISHED Common Weaknesses & Detractors

*I'm using general ages over specific ones due to the transient nature of... well... time. Some are obvious like elder or kit, but others are less so and you can use the chart below for reference.
Kit | Birth to 5 moons | Unable to care for themselves, ranging from nursing newborns to kittens still learning to eat solid food | Young Adolescent | 5 moons to 10 moons | Usually apprentices or about to be apprentices, at the beginning of their training and still considered very young. They are learning to survive. | Adolescent | 10 moons to 1.5 years | Nearing the end of their apprenticeship and at the beginning of their time as a warrior. They have the skills to survive but are refining them and gaining life experience. | Young Adult | 1.5 years to 3 years | Fully trained warrior with experience. Starting their prime years and the typical age range to start having kits. A time when they focus mostly on their independence and personal relationships. | Adult | 3 years to 7 years | In their prime, experiences and respected adult cats. | Late Adult | 7 years to 10 years | Starting to show their age but still strong and capable. Usually leaning far into their final breeding years. | Elder | 10+ years | Their sunset years, not always fully as capable as they once were. |
