Rowan Woulfe Rowan was seated at his desk, fiddling with a pencil, ignoring the small stack of papers on his desk. A follow up for the past mission he had tended to, but had been ignoring for the week and spending his time just doing anything but the paperwork, someone needed something from another department? He was the first to volunteer to go get it. Someone sneezed? He was right there offering a tissue. If it meant he could get away from his desk he was on it. It had already gotten him a lecture from his boss, but none of the harsh words had really stuck to the man, instead simply going in one ear and right out the other. Not that he was meaning to be procrastinating the work, he usually adored it, but the rumors that circulated from department to department in the headquarters had captured his full attention. His partner- his ex partner was finally coming back from being undercover for two years, having gotten extracted. Sure they no longer worked together, let alone in the same department, but Rowan still cared for the other agent, and so he had kept tabs on his ex partner’s whereabouts and well being. He groaned as he slumped against his desk, his hazel gaze landing on the paperwork lying in the stack by his head. This won’t do itself. I really don’t want to deal with another lecture.. With a groan he sat up and picked up a pen to try and start working on it. Barely making it through a single page of it before a commotion caught his attention out in the hallway, glancing around he could tell he wasn’t the only one in the department that had taken notice of the noise going on beyond their department, the clacking of keyboards pausing and the sounds of pens and pencils on paper halting. Seeing a few of his coworkers heading for the door, he eagerly moved away from his desk and joined the small crowd gathering around the door to see what exactly was going on. Rowan gave a brief glance to the office, before choosing to completely abandon the room, and headed down the hall following the source of the noise, his paperwork would still be there when he got back. Along with a probably angry superior, but oh well being assigned to desk duty for a few months didn’t seem so bad if it meant satisfying his curiosity at the moment, sides it would be way to inform the others curious in his department anyways, so if someone had to do it, he would gladly take the role. sorry if this is bad))

Ezra Nox - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Agent Ezra Nox blinked against the harsh fluorescent lights as the elevator doors slid open. He stepped out, his boss at his side, into a bustling corridor filled with people. The crowd was a blur of motion and noise, a stark contrast to the quiet isolation of his recent extraction. His dirty tousled blonde hair and blue-grey eyes along with some stubble gave him a rugged appearance, one that didn't quite match the bewildered look he wore as he tried to make sense of his surroundings. The amnesia was a cruel fog that clung to his mind, obscuring the details of his two-year undercover mission. Faces and places floated just out of reach, leaving him with a sense of loss that gnawed at his insides. He knew he'd been good at his job—his extraction wouldn't have been necessary otherwise—but the specifics were elusive, like fragments of a dream slipping away upon waking.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a figure standing near the back. The name didn't register, nor did the significance of the brief eye contact they shared. To Ezra, this man was just another face in the sea of strangers. Before he could ponder the flicker of who the guy was, Ezra was ushered away, the crowd parting reluctantly as his boss led him towards the captain's (the boss) office.
The doors to the office closed behind them, shutting out the chaos and leaving Ezra with only the hum of the air conditioning and the weight of his confusion. His boss's voice broke through his thoughts, steady and authoritative, grounding him in the present. Ezra forced himself to focus, pushing away the fragments of fleeting memories and the phantom faces that haunted him. He had to concentrate on the now, on the briefing, and on piecing together the life that had slipped through his fingers during the two years undercover.
Notes. Kind of god-modded a bit at the end with the whole eye contact thing. got kind of carried away. | Words. 320 | Tag. Ember34

Rowan Woulfe When his eyes had meet briefly with Agent Nox’s he couldn’t help but hope for some form of recognition from his old partner. But as fast as the contact had been it was soon broken. His shoulders slumped alot of the excitement that had been there to see his old partner now gone. He was just another face to him, before Ezra’s undercover mission, he would at least get a nod of recognition whenever they passed one another, now there was nothing. As he had been ushered into the office, most of the other agents began to disperse to return to their duties. Part of him wanted to go and put his ear to the door, but heaved a sigh, and headed back for the office his department was located in. Not much to his surprise, sure enough his boss was waiting for him. Sending an apologetic smile to the older woman, hoping he could smooth things over. He followed after her when she directed him to go to his desk, with a fixed glare, he knew that for sure he would be getting chewed out later when he would have to turn in the report. Doing his best to hide his embarrassment he headed for it, only to pause as a few agents he didn't recognize started to file into the room, as he settled at his desk he tried his best to try get some of the paperwork done, but his gaze kept flicking to the agents coming and settling into the room wherever they could find the space to. ------ Meanwhile in the director's office, the man settled at his desk. “ It's good to see you Agent Nox, I hope the extraction wasn't to detrimental to your mission or at the very least wasn't to unpleasant. But I'm afraid we had no choice in cutting the mission off,” he started, as he picked up a closed file off his desk and offered it out to the agent. “ But unfortunately we need all the help we can get, and with who we are dealing with, we figured you would be among the best for the job, considering you've dealt with this group before, that you would be among the best to have for this as you know what they are capable of.” As he let the other man look over the file he gave a glance to the clock on the wall, they would soon need to leave to join with the others to properly introduce the situation and the upcoming mission, but he figured giving Ezra a run down first might do good with how long he had been undercover and wouldn't be to overwhelming for him. “ We thought the group had gotten disbanded when we took out their leader, but it seems they simply worked to stay under our radars and operated in the shadows these past few years, we are currently trying to gather what we can on their recent activities.” He glanced to the other man. “ Do you have any questions?”

Ezra Nox - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Ezra sat in Director Hawthorne's office, his mind a labyrinth of fragmented memories and unanswered questions. The extraction from his deep cover mission had left him disoriented, grappling with a sense of loss he couldn't quite pinpoint. Director Hawthorne's voice brought him back to the present, offering a file that held the key to a mission he once knew intimately. ❝Thank you, sir,❞ Ezra replied, his voice betraying none of the turmoil swirling beneath the surface. He accepted the file with a nod, fingers tracing over the embossed label as he opened it. The words on the pages blurred momentarily, refusing to coalesce into a coherent narrative. His gaze flickered to the clock on the wall, a reminder of the urgency of their situation.
Director Hawthorne's briefing pierced through the haze, outlining the resurgence of a group Ezra had spent years infiltrating—a group now shrouded in mystery and menace once more. Do you have any questions? Ezra hesitated, grappling with the gaps in his memory and the weight of responsibility. ❝No, sir,❞ he replied finally, his voice steady despite the uncertainty gnawing at him. ❝I'll need some time to review the details, but I'm ready to assist in any way I can.❞ As he stepped out of the director's office, the weight of his fragmented memories bore down heavily on him. The briefing had clarified the urgency of the situation, yet it had also unearthed a disconcerting truth—he no longer recognized faces he should have known.
In the bustling hallway of the agency headquarters, agents moved with purpose, exchanging nods and brief greetings that felt foreign to Ezra. He scanned the familiar faces, searching for a flicker of recognition that never came. There were nods of acknowledgment directed at him, polite smiles that hinted at familiarity, but they meant nothing to him now. A pang of disorientation gripped Ezra as he stood there, feeling like an outsider amidst colleagues who should have been allies. His mind raced, trying to piece together the fragments of his former life—faces, names, shared experiences that felt like echoes in a vast cavernous void.

Director Hawthorne gave a nod to him, as he stood and followed him out to the debriefing. He had taken over most of it towards the agents with, the others in charge of the debriefing filling in on anything he might have missed. With the debriefing done, he headed off to check on other departments having a more computer work aspect to it to see if any new information had come to light.
Rowan Woulfe
Rowan had gotten half way through his paperwork, before abandoning it to pay attention to the debriefing. When he had almost written down what was being said numerous times instead of the thoughts in his head trying to recall the mission he knew it wouldn't be a productive use of his time. His shoulders tensed slightly as he heard the name of the group, his hand subconsciously touching to his shoulder where a scar was hidden out of sight from a fight he had been in from a member of that group. Shaking out his head he tried to turn his attention back to the report but soon found his desire to procrastinate it kicking back in. "A short walk shouldn't be to much of a problem," he concluded aloud pushing away from his desk, while other agents had already set to work on the collaborative mission, he didn't have it fully in him.
Iinstead he couldn't help but glance around his eyes soon landing on Ezra. He hesitated slightly, should he go over and say hi? Was that something that the other agent would appreciate? He was close to.the door enough that it wouldn't be to out of the way to at least wlak past and say it. As he made his way once more away from his desk, weaving around any standing agents, he was soon walking past Ezra, pausing briefly he gave him a smile. "Hey, it's good to see you again," he greeted his former partner. He stood for a few seconds his gaze shifting away, towards around the room, looking at the other agents, but also for his department's director to ensure that he could slop out without notice.

Ezra Nox - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Ezra stood slightly away from the director's office door, his posture relaxed but his mind swirling with confusion. The past two years of his life were like fragmented puzzle pieces scattered in the darkness of forgotten memories. He had returned to this place, this agency, with a sense of duty and a hollow uncertainty that gnawed at him relentlessly. He heard footsteps approaching, and instinctively he turned his head, his gaze meeting the familiar face of a man he should know. The recognition didn't come, though. Instead, Ezra felt a fleeting sense of discomfort, a nagging sense that he should know this person standing before him.
❝Hey, it's good to see you again,❞ the man greeted him. ❝Uh, yeah.❞ Ezra replied hesitantly, unsure how to respond. His gaze flickered past the man, scanning the room for any hint of recognition, but finding none. He felt a pang of guilt at his own detachment, sensing the other agent's expectation of recognition and warmth that he simply couldn't reciprocate. He managed a small, polite smile, trying to mask his unease. ❝Sorry, I... I don't remember.❞ Ezra admitted softly, his voice tinged with apology. His admission hung in the air between them, heavy with the weight of his forgotten past. He knew he should know this man, should feel some connection, but there was only emptiness where memories should reside.

Rowan Woulfe " Sorry I... I don't remember." Those words struck deeper then he thought they would, a strong pang of hurt striking through him. Rowan pushed away the hurt he felt, and quickly masked it, flashing a small grin. " All good Im probably lretty forgetable compared to the interesting leople youve dealt with since you've transfered," he stated with a small laugh. It was partially true they had quit being partners for a few years now, but another part of it had been a poor attempt at self deprecated humor hoping it would make Ezra feel slightly better about not remembering him. He glanced sway toward around the room, biting his lip in thought. He eventually turned his gaze back to Ezra, his smile faltering, causing for him to quickly l9ok away, focusing on a file another agent was looking at involving the situation. Adjusting his sleeves of his uniform as he mulled the current situation over. " So what do you think about all this though," he said, waving his arm around the bustling room. " I didn't think this group would resurface, but I suppose anything can happen.." He crossed his arms against his chest his eyes narrowing slightly as he thought to himself, but soon spoke out his head. " Hopefully it is easy to deal with them, we know what to expect...i think?" "

Ezra Nox - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Ezra listened intently to the other agent's attempt to lighten the mood, though his mind struggled to grasp onto the familiarity that seemed to elude him. He appreciated the agent's efforts, sensing the underlying kindness in his words despite the awkwardness of the situation. ❝Yeah, you're probably right,❞ Ezra replied with a faint smile, trying to mirror the other agent's attempt at levity. ❝I've certainly dealt with my fair share of interesting people since I returned last week.❞ His tone carried a hint of uncertainty, a silent acknowledgment of the gaps in his memory that left him feeling unsettled. As the other agent turned the conversation to the current situation, Ezra's attention shifted to the bustling room around them. He observed the organized chaos with a mix of admiration and concern, trying to find his footing amidst the familiarity that didn't quite feel entirely familiar.
❝I didn't expect this group to resurface either,❞ Ezra admitted, his brow furrowing slightly as he processed the agent's question. ❝It's... unsettling, to say the least.❞ His gaze drifted back to the agent, studying him for a moment with a flicker of recognition that he couldn't quite place. ❝And about knowing what to expect... I wish I could remember more. It feels like there's a lot I should know, but...❞ He trailed off, a touch of frustration evident in his voice. Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, Ezra looked directly at the agent, his expression earnest yet uncertain. ❝By the way, what's your name? Have we... have we known each other for long?❞ His voice held a mix of hope and trepidation, a subtle plea for reassurance that perhaps they had been more than just colleagues in the past.
