Stormclan
The Alert and Prepared
——————————
History
After a natural disaster struck the five original clans at the lake were destroyed. Few from each clan survived the tragedy and those who were still alive had to travel far from their original territories, as they were completely destroyed. As generations passed, no one knows what natural disaster occurred that day as it had been lost from the lack of total information. Generations later, nobody seems to question it. However those who survived the disaster vowed that they would never let their kin die from such horrors again and trained their clan how to survive such situations, giving it the name “StormClan”.
TERRITORY
StormClan settled in a small abandoned two-leg barn surrounded by moor where cows and horses grazed long ago. Across the barn there is a thunderpath which on the other side has a pine forest that is also partially StormClan’s territory. A network of tunnels connect the moor and the pine forest. Overall, StormClan territory is decently big in size.
Camp - An abandoned two-leg barn that was boarded closed by two-legs long ago. The cats get into it by hopping through a small opening near the boarded up door that is just big enough for all cats to get through. Dens are made out of haystacks along with sturdy vines and branches from the Pine Forest. Mice occasionally get in during leaf-bare, making it easier to get prey.
The Moor - Believed to had once been home to many cows and horses, The Moor is a grassy open area surrounded Camp. Hares, rabbits, and birds are commonly found, however one may have to be quick to catch them. Runners hunt in this area.
The Pine Forest - A small chunk of forest on the other side of The Thunderpath filled with pine trees. The rest of it that doesn’t belong to StormClan belongs to many loners and rouges who have learned to not cross StormClan’s markers. The forest has many prey options, including squirrels, frogs, mice, birds, and more. Tree Hunters hunt here.
The Bunkers - The Bunkers are a network of tunnels that start at an entrance in The Moor and travel all the way under The Thunderpath into The Pine Forest. The can go further past StormClan territory, however the Tunnel Keeper makes sure that stays boarded up so no intruders can come through them into passed the markers. Cats only usually go through The Bunkers to transfer from The Moor and The Pine Forest, however they are used as a more stable shelter from natural disasters and storms as well. Only the Tunnel Keeper or their apprentice is aloud to hunt in The Bunkers.
The Pond - StormClan’s main water source other than puddles. A medium sized Pond located at the edge of The Pine Forest. An easy place for the medicine cats to collect herbs and water. Frogs and fish are found easily there.
The Thunderpath - A large place where monsters run that smells disgustingly of two-legs. Divides The Moor and The Pine Forest.
The Moon Puddle - Located directly next to The Pond, a starry purple coloured puddle that never dries up. StormClan’s main connection to StarClan. When drunk a cat will be connected to StarClan. Leaders come to receive their nine lives and Medicine Cats come every half-moon to talk to their ancestors.
The roles
The Leader - A cat gifted nine lives by StarClan who is in charge of the leading their clan with loyalty.
The Deputy - The Leader’s second in command. Organizes patrols, helps leading, etc. Becomes the next leader when the current one passes.
Medicine Cats - Those in charge of healing their clan and delivering prophecies and warnings from StarClan. Normally there is only one or two.
Medicine Cat Apprentice - A cat training to become a medicine cat. Must be chosen by the current medicine cat and accepted by StarClan at the Moon Puddle before beginning training.
Warriors - An umbrella term referring to those who fight and feed the clan. Tree Hunters, Runners, and the Tunnel Keeper all classify as warriors.
The Tunnel Keeper - A cat who is specifically in charge of keeping The Bunkers safe and hunting there. Normally a cat with great skills in building.
Tunnel Keeper Apprentice - One being trained exclusively by the current Tunnel Keeper to build, guard, and hunt in The Bunkers. Chosen by the Leader and current Tunnel Keeper upon apprenticeship.
Runners - Cats who hunt in the moor. Normally are swift, slim, and short-haired.
Tree Hunters - Cats who hunt in The Pine Forest. Normally are bigger, long-haired, and have forest-like colored pelts.
Apprentices - An umbrella term for cats training to be Warriors or a Medicine Cat. Starts training at 6 moons. Can become their full rank when finished training at the age of 12 moons and finish their assessment successfully.
Runner Apprentice - Cat training to be a runner. They are chosen to train in this role based on their physical appearance and skills when kits shortly before apprenticeship.
Tree Hunter Apprentice - Cat training to be a Tree Hunter. They are chosen to train in this role based on their physical appearance and skills when kits shortly before apprenticeship.
Queens - She-cats who are raising kits. Can be permanent.
Kits - Young cats that are under 6 moons being raised by their mothers before apprenticeship.
Elders - The oldest of the clan. Cats who have retired from their jobs to rest upon old age.
Traditions
Starry Storm - After a storm, blizzard, etc. lasts for more then three days straight it’s a sign from StarClan that the medicine cat and/or leader must come to The Moon Puddle immediately after the extreme weather is over.
Trial of the Trees - The Tree Hunter warrior assessment. Apprentices must bring back 3 pieces of prey you can only find in The Pine Forest territory without assistance. Mentors will be supervising and will give the leader their approval if the apprentice is ready to become a warrior.
Trial of the Moor - The Runner warrior assessment. Apprentices must bring back 3 pieces of prey you can only find in The Moor without assistance. Mentors will be supervising and will give their leader approval if the apprentice is ready to become a warrior.
Trial of the Tunnels - The Tunnel Keeper warrior assessment. The apprentice must demonstrate 3 skills they have learned to keep the tunnels, guard them, and build them. They must also bring back 1 piece of prey. Both the mentor and leader will be supervising and will give approval if the apprentice is ready to become a warrior.
StarClan’s Approval - When a medicine cat apprentice is both first apprenticed and finishes their and finishes their training they need StarClan to approve of their rank at The Moon Puddle. If approved as of apprenticeship, only then will the cat continue training. If approved after full training, the medicine cat will then receive their full name from their mentor and be recognized as a full medicine cat.
Storm Watch - When kits reach 4 Moons the leader will declare a “Storm Watch” meaning the deputy must now briefly watch over the kits to see which rank they will train in as of apprenticeship (Tree Hunter or Runner), especially the ones with unique pelts that may require more thinking to decide
Warrior Silent Vigil - Once an apprentice has successfully completed their trial they are named their suffix and are a full warrior. That night they must protect the clan by guarding it silently while everyone sleeps.
Apprentice Ceremony - Once a kit reaches 6 moons and has completed their Storm Watch the Leader will declare them an apprentice as either a Runner or a Tree Hunter (and less likely, a Tunnel Keeper). They will also receive their -paw suffix and be named their mentor who they will touch noses with
Deputy Ceremony - After the former deputy has stepped up as leader or joined StarClan, the leader must name a new deputy. This deputy must be a warrior who has formerly or is currently mentoring an apprentice
Leader Ceremony - Once a deputy needs to step up as leader, they journey to The Moon Puddle along with the medicine cat to receive their nine lives. They take a sip of the starry water and are turned unconscious and greeted by StarClan cats. One StarClan cat will each give them a life.
