I just finished Dovewing's Silence today. I would like to know what other people thought of it? Because I just feel.... disappointed? It felt like a bit of a waste of time tbh. Yes, it covers what happens to the cats who visited the dark forest and how the clans accept them again. All all honesty though the only part that i found really interesting was Blackstar holding onto the alliance after the battle. It seemed like he was the only leader that wanted to foster that sense of unification whereas in the past he was always the first to break off and be independent.

All I know is that it’s Moonkitti’s favorite book probably because Dovewing is the main character, but I thought it was ok. (Outside of the Purdy relevancy that was peak)

I have 2 thoughts on dovewings silence.
1. Yeah it's sad that the cats treated blackstars silence as weird or over the top, but it makes sense that some of them wanted to move on. People grieve in different ways ig.
2. The apprentices that literally tried to get all the df trainees killed with no punishment... like what.

It was honestly the only time when Dovewing was actually well written.

OMG YESSSSSS the apprentices trying to kill the DF trainees!!!! Huge Bruh moment. They definitely should have gotten a hasher punishment than what they did. That was so wild!!!!

It was honestly the only time when Dovewing was actually well written. I will heartily agree with this. i appreciated Dovewing's characterisation in the novella fully but the events just fell flat for me. I really struggled to care..... Except when Molepaw and Cherrypaw tried to kill the Dark Forest trainees of course. And Blackstar

It's been years since I last read that novella. All I remember besides what's been said already was Dovewing dealing with losing her power.

People only liked Dovewing in this book because they think she was the most mature here, but I think they're wrong. Dovewing has always had empathy for other cats, so this "growth" isn't really necessary to write. She hasn't changed, she's always been an emotional she-cat to her sister and others, but she has always shown empathy to other cats too. This book isn't exactly surprising to me or that great.
