Hi everyone! I got permission from Whispering Willow to use their justified/unjustified format for other fandoms for the OTD page! This will mainly be for the MCU but I may try to do other fandoms/media as well!
Scenario: In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, a Celestial being named Ego houses his long lost son, Peter Quill, along with his fellow Guardians, Drax and Gamora. While Ego bonds with Quill and shows him how to harness Celestial powers, Gamora is suspicious of the planet, and Drax bonds with Ego's assistant and daughter, Mantis. Mantis knows a dark truth about Ego- that he has had many children with women across the galaxy, and that he killed every child that didn't inherit his Celestial gene. No child has had the gene until Quill, and Ego wishes to use Quill as a battery to help him spread his planet across the universe. However, Mantis is unaware of social cues due to her isolation, and is anxious to reveal her secret in case she and her new friends get into trouble. Gamora suspects Mantis is hiding something, but Mantis chooses to keep the secret until the last minute, where she explains the mass graves on the planet right as Ego has Quill exactly where he needed to be. By revealing the secret, Mantis was able to assist the Guardians in defeating and killing Ego, however, the deadly battle would have been minimized if she had revealed it earlier. Was Mantis justified in keeping Ego's dark truth a secret from her new friends and brother?

Past scenarios:
1. In Iron Man, Tony Stark decides to discontinue the weapons program from his family company, Stark Industries, following a traumatic event that gave him perspective on the horrors of war, and he no longer wanted to cause the pain he experienced and witnessed. Because weapons production was a major part of the company's setup, jobs were reshuffled and people were laid off. As a result, Obidiah Stane, Tony's mentor, tries to regain control of the company by nearly killing Stark. (JUSTIFIED)
2. In the Incredible Hulk, Thaddeus Ross tries to recreate Super Soldier Serum. However, his test on Bruce Banner goes horribly awry, and turns him into the Hulk upon fits of anger or stress. The Hulk's initial outburst results in three deaths, and the near death of Ross's daughter, Betty. As a result, Ross dedicates his job to capture Banner. Was Thaddeus Ross justified to try to capture and neutralize Bruce Banner? (JUSTIFIED)
During this, Banner struggles with containing the Hulk, and runs away to Brazil to avoid hurting people. When he returns to the US to find a cure, Ross continues his mission, despite Betty being against this and helping Bruce avoid her father. The chase and eventual capture of Hulk leads to the creation of Abomination, and Bruce never gets his cure in the end. Was Thaddeus Ross justified in capturing Hulk years later, despite also putting his daughter in danger? (UNJUSTIFIED)
3. In Iron Man 2, Tony Stark is acting very recklessly when he learns that he has palladium poisoning and will die. His best friend, Rhodey, doesn't approve of this, and his attempts to help are in vain. Further, the government forces Rhodey to take control of Tony and the suits. At a breaking point, Rhodey crashes into what Tony believes is his last birthday party, where Tony is at his worst- drunk and not taking himself or the people around him seriously. Rhodey retaliates by stealing one of Tony's suits and scaring the guests away. This causes a rift in their friendship that boiled into a physical fight. Was Rhodey justified in taking the suit? (JUSTIFIED)
4. In Thor, Odin is crowning his firstborn son, Thor, as the Prince of Asgard. Thor, being the favourite and spoiled child, acts recklessly. Following a recent skirmish with the Frost Giants of Jotenheim (which Loki caused), Thor decides to go with his friends and brother Loki behind Odin's back to start a battle. Loki, desperate for his father's approval, betrays Thor and tattles. This results in Odin being enraged, exiling and disowning Thor, leading to Loki being next in line to the throne and getting attention, both good and bad, from Odin. Was Loki justified in telling on Thor? (JUSTIFIED)
5. In Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rogers is in Europe providing entertainment for the Allies during the War. He is frustrated because despite his loyalty and heightened physique making him able to formidably fight, the military is not letting him. When the Nazis capture the 107th Division, Steve realizes that his friend, Bucky Barnes, is one of the prisoners. Steve is told that a rescue plan is impossible with the loss of troops, and would only cause more casualties and needless tragedy. Because of his friend and feelings towards his abilities, Steve disobeys orders and rescues the prisoners anyways, which is a success. Was Steve justified in going behind the backs of authority to rescue Bucky and the other prisoners in a risky situation? (JUSTIFIED)
6. In The Avengers, the six heroes that Nick Fury appointed for the Avengers Initiative are not getting along. With Loki on the loose and actively causing destruction, Fury must find a way to bring the Avengers together to fight off the oncoming invasion of Chitauri aliens. When his agent and friend, Phil Coulson dies, Fury uses it as an opportunity to use it as a way to bring the team together. To do this, Fury stains Coulson's prized possessions, Captain America Collector Cards, with fake blood to create a bond for the Avengers' emotions. The plan works, and the Avengers are back together, but Fury is called out by a peer for faking the symbolism. Was Nick Fury justified in destroying his dead friend's prized possession to motivate the Avengers? (JUSTIFIED)
7. In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark is showing signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder following his near-death experience in New York. This has caused his behaviour to change, such as him obsessing over suits and defense, much to his girlfriend, Pepper's annoyance and concern. One night, Tony and Pepper are sleeping in the same bed when Tony had a nightmare. This causes him to inadvertantly activate one of his suits, which accidentally attacks Pepper. Fed up, Pepper decides to leave Tony. Was Pepper justified in her decision? (JUSTIFIED)
8. In Thor: The Dark World, Jane Foster has been infected by the Aether, and needs to stay in Asgard for treatment. This is taboo as humans usually cannot stay at Asgard. During Jane's stay, she is attacked by Malekith and the Dark elves, who intend to use the Aether for evil. Jane's life is saved by Frigga, who dies protecting her. Devastated by grief, and hateful of the outsiders who wreaked havoc on his realm, Odin refuses to release Jane, willing to let her die and wanting revenge on the enemy. Thor, wanting to save his love, decides to commit treason by going behind his father' back to release her. Part of the plan, however, is also releasing his brother Loki from his imprisonment, which is punishment for the Chitauri Invasion. Jane is cured, but Loki ends up faking his own death and impersonating Odin as a direct result of being freed. Was Thor justified in going behind Odin's back and freeing his unpredictable brother to help Jane? (UNDECIDED)
9. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Natasha Romanoff is working with Steve Rogers to uncover and resolve a HYDRA conspiracy within SHIELD. Both were invested in this after Nick Fury's supposed death, which they still believe to be legitimate. Fury had left with the two Avengers a USB disk that contains the encrypted whereabouts of Arnim Zola, a former HYDRA scientist. Steve wants to decrypt the USB, but is attacked by corrupted SHIELD 'agents'. He then realizes that the USB had been taken. Natasha meets him again, and reveals that she had taken the USB without alerting Steve, causing him anger, and making him demand what other secrets Natasha is hiding, which she reveals to include knowledge of the Winter Soldier's existence. Was Natasha justified in not telling her ally about the hidden USB? (UNJUSTIFIED)
10. In Guardians of the Galaxy, Ronan the Accuser is a radical member of the Kree. Despite the leaders of the Kree making peace treaties with their rivals, the Xandarians, Ronan goes against them to kill Xandarians and "purity" the Kree. Two of his victims were supposedly Drax the Destroyer's wife and daughter. Drax swears revenge on Ronan. Later, Drax joins the Guardians of the Galaxy, and aims to protect the Power Stone from Ronan, who wants to use it for his radical cause. Drax gets drunk, and seeing this moment and his strength as an opportunity to defeat Ronan to save the galaxy and avenge his family, summons Ronan to Knowhere. While this takes Drax's allies by surprise, and results in the near-death of Gamora, and the group being separated; they manage to recuperate and ally with the Nova Corps to defeat Ronan with the Stone. Was Drax justified in summoning his enemy? (JUSTIFIED)
11. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner attempted to create a peacekeeping AI with the Mind Stone. This failed, and led to the creation of Ultron, a rogue AI whose definition of peace means the end of humanity- and whose programming makes executing his vision his top priority. Ultron defeats Jarvis, Tony's AI assistant, and wreaks havoc on the planet before mind controlling a doctor to make him a synthetic body. Thankfully, Hawkeye manages to steal the synthetic body, and Tony is able to recover Jarvis. Tony wishes to try making an AI again, this time using Jarvis and the synthetic body. Bruce initially doesn't want to, but agrees nonetheless. This angers the other Avengers, who fear that this will result in another Ultron being created. There is a fight, but Thor brings the new AI to life without knowing the context. But this AI is a kind individual who later becomes Vision and defeats Ultron. Were Tony and Bruce justified in engineering a second AI to stop Ultron? (UNJUSTIFIED)
12. In Ant Man, Hank Pym had resigned from working at SHIELD due to his colleague, Howard Stark, trying to replicate Pym Particles, which Hank thinks is unethical. Pym particles cause an object to change size and can cause mass destruction if misused. Hank tries to suppress Stark's work, but in 2015, it is pirated by Darren Cross when he makes his Yellowjacket suit. Hank worries about Cross, because he was Cross' mentor, and knows that Cross will use the suit unethically, seeing how the technology had been stolen. To prevent Cross from causing any damage, Hank decides to find somebody to become his apprentice, and the new Ant Man. Hank thinks that a man named Scott Lang would be a good choice. At this time, Scott Lang is an ex-con who is trying to rebuild his life for his daughter, and doesn't want to do any more crime. Hank, knowing this, convinces Scott's friend, Luis, another ex-con, to get Scott to do a test. Scott agrees, and puts his life at risk once more to successfully steal Hank's Ant Man suit. Scott passes the test, and becomes the new Ant Man. Was Hank justified in manipulating Scott to steal his suit for a test? (UNJUSTIFIED)
13. In Captain America: Civil War, Tony Stark learns that Bucky Barnes killed his parents during the latter's time as the Winter Soldier. As the Winter Soldier, Bucky was brainwashed by HYDRA, resulting in his memories being wiped multiple times, and in him having little to no sense of free will. Any time Bucky did regain his morality, HYDRA wiped it again. When Tony learned what Bucky had done, Bucky was already atoning for his time in HYDRA, remembering and regretting every action he did. Tony, blinded by grief, and angry that his friend Steve Rogers didn't let him know of the action, gave 100% of the blame to Bucky and attacked him. This resulted in Bucky's prosthetic arm being blasted off, and the further deterioration in Steve and Tony's relationship as friends and peers. Was Tony justified in blaming and attacking Bucky? (UNJUSTIFIED)
14. In Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange recently had his first battle as a sorcerer in the New York Sanctum. He had joined the ranks of the Masters of the Mystic arts in hopes of healing his severely damaged hands from a car crash, and thus restoring his career as a successful neurosurgeon. Despite not practicing medicine at this time, Stephen still lived by the Hippocratic Oath of not harming or killing people. In this battle, he and his Cloak killed an enemy Zealot out of self defence.
Upon returning to the aftermath after recovering from a stab wound, Stephen mat his mentor, Mordo, and leader/Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One. Both congratulated him on defending the Sanctum, and he was promoted to the Sanctum Master. Stephen refused the promotion, saying that his job was to save lives, not end them, and he had gotten the position by killing a man. Mordo accused Stephen of being a coward, to which Stephen reveals a revelation that the Ancient One had been using the same dark powers of the Zealots to artificially extend her life by centuries. This was later proven to be true, although not at this moment. Mordo further accused Stephen of being self centered, arrogant, and lacking a spine. Was Stephen justified in (1) denying the promotion or (2) accusing the Ancient One of hypocracy? (1) JUSTIFIED, (2) UNJUSTIFIED
