Interesting! I wonder if Moonpaw is a NightSun kit. (Still hoping for a WC POV lol.) With Crowfeather on the cover, it seems like we're having a rehash of TNP but with the characters who didn't have POVs. |

I want Tawnypelt to depose Tigerstar in Changing Skies with the warrior code. In Wind he said he would agree to step down from leadership if ShadowClan no longer wanted him as leader so I hope that happens in Changing Skies and he becomes Tigerheart again and Tawnypelt or Cloverfoot becomes ShadowClan's leader.

In any case, it is now unlikely that Brambleclaw will die in Star, he will certainly participate in the quest with Tawnypelt and Crowfeather.

However, I can see Brambleclaw dying in The Elders's Quest or in volume 2. I can see him succumbing to the after-effects left by Ashfur upon returning due to exhaustion from the journey.

So we got a new arc and first book reveal in May similarly to back when TBC ended and ASC was announced at a similar time in April/May/June (can't remember which one rn) a few years ago, after all.
Again, love the arc title and love the premise of elders/older characters going on quests (even though it usually means death, RIP Sandstorm in TAQ at the start of AVoS and RIP Graystripe a few books after his SE in TBC). I feel like either Leafstar, Tawnypelt or Crowfeather will die in this new arc (highly doubt all in one but we'll see).
Sad but not suprised at this point tbh to read that Tigerstar II is still in power and that WindClan does not seem to be the main Clan for this arc (even if the arc title already suggested as much). Love SkyClan but dang does modern WindClan need some focus fr.
Crowfeather got mentioned but I'm not sure he's a PoV since Leafstar, Tawnypelt and this new character Moonpaw (possibly a NightSun kit?) seem to fill the roles of three protags/PoVs per arc which have been established/a staple in the main series for a while. Still hope WindClan gets focus though and considering Whistlepaw's prologue in Ivypool's upcoming SE, my hopes are up.
Was hoping for a DotC sequel or at the very least a soft reboot set a few years after ASC but oh well. There seems to be some level of a timeskip at least although my guess for now is that it's moreso akin to six moons like in between PoT and OotS or a year/two years (not sure) like between OotS and AVoS.
Speaking of which, some of the blurb details do read like a bit of a rehash of previous arc material (Twolegs destroying the home of the Clans like in TNP, a mysterious quest and SkyClan focus like in AVoS, a mysterious voice with sinister imtentions guiding an apprentice like in TBC) but I'm still cautiously optimistic/excited for this new arc nonetheless.

Being perfectly honest, the moment I saw that cover my immediate thought was 'that looks like Leafstar'. Turns out it was, with Crowfeather and Tawnypelt being behind her. Looks like those three make it through ASC. Leafstar, Tawnypelt and an apprentice named Moonpaw seem to be the protagonists. Looks like Tawny was the cat who we've been following since the first arc that would play a central role. Does she retire before this arc starts?
So the Moonpool is in danger, as well as the Clans connection to StC. Poor Leafstar. She's been leader for around 10 years at this point and it looks like her age is starting to catch up to her with her losing her vision. Poor thing. I wonder what Tawny is about to do. Also, who is Moonpaw? A Night/Sun kit? Hm. |

I’m actually pretty excited for this, especially if we’re getting a Tawnypelt POV! Her and Crowfeather on the cover make sense considering this is echoing the second arc, but Squirrelstar and Brambleclaw were key focuses in that arc too. Wonder why they aren’t being represented? They got a lot of rep in ASC. But theories think that Tawny may move to TC so perhaps that's how we get it. Also hoping the Tribe appears for Stormfur <3 |

I'm glad Tawnypelt is getting her own POV, this arc might finally make it right for me, since I'm not a fan of the "political crisis" concept that ASC is developing on . As usual, Tigerstar 2 is right in one book and wrong in the next one, but we've seen that before, haven't we? I appreciate the "farewell" to the older generation, while also introducing new characters.
I'm curious to see who Moonpaw is, since she's not present in the Clans yet, maybe she's adopted, like Twig and Violet? Or maybe the blurb refers not to the following Leaf-bare in Wind, but the one after it..

okay, I'm actually REALLY excited for this arc now. I'm very interested to see what will happen with SkyClan and Leafstar and the Moonpool, and I'm happy for the Tawnypelt and Crowfeather focus. And omg...I already love Moonpaw so much. Moon- is one of my favorite prefixes, and I'm sooooooo happy we're getting a main arc POV protag with it. My first thought upon seeing her name was "NIGHTSUN KIT" and I honestly hope she is and that she's the TC POV, and that's coming from someone who doesn't even care about NightSun that much.
Either way, it'll be fun to have a Moon- protag right after the arc where we got a Sun- protag lol. I also hope Moonpaw is from a single-kit litter. We've never had a POV protag in the main arcs be straight-up from a one-kit litter, right? Oh and one more thing: Moonpaw, pls don't be gray with blue/green eyes |

The voice in Moonpaw’s head just sounds way too similar to Shadowsight and Frostpaw, with her being manipulated once again by a sinister force to believe she has a spiritual connection. And more Tigerstar drama, just… why? Leafstar’s leadership plot-line is the one that I’m genuinely excited for. I’m usually pretty positive about all things Warriors, but this blurb has me a little discouraged and worried. Hoping for the best though!

Poor Leafstar, it’s sad seeing a legend come to her end. From Leaf, to Leafdapple, to Leafstar there’s no denying she’s laid down a legacy and claim to the world of warriors. Very interested in seeing who Moonpaw is? Something tells me she might be a WarriorClan cat but I’d love to see a WindClan focus. Changing Skies, specifically The Elder’s Quest, is off to an unpredictable start. |

I hate the cover so much. The cat head up close completely ruins it. And it's hard to tell who the background cats are.
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about it being similar to TNP and TBC. Anything from TNP is welcome, but I'd rather not be reminded of TBC. yikes

Almost certainly intentional that her name has the same prefix as the Moonpool. Gives me Ashfur-manipulating-Shadowsight vibes here. Assuming this is literal, Leafstar has gone blind by this point in the timeline? She is rather old, but still, poor girl. So that confirms the SkyClan involvement...I presume Leafstar's kicking the bucket pretty soon. Based on the blurb, her leadership is being called into question because of her increasing age. Also cool, it's Tawnypelt! I'm assuming she retires to the elder's den in or after Star. Poor girl needs a break. On another note, interesting that Crowfeather is on the cover too. Looks like this arc might be something of a farewell to the older generation of characters? Leafstar is supporting Splashtail despite the obvious facts. I think she is falling to dementia and her blind will be part of her old age as the longest serving Clan Leader in the series (FQ takes place in between TPB and TNP) I'm sorry, but attributing Leafstar's behavior in ASC to her possibly having dementia and her eventual blindness just feels wrong to me, like it's a punishment for her inaction (I know that's probably not what you're saying, but the wording still feels off). And to be fair, what's obvious to the main cast isn't going to be obvious to everyone else, otherwise there wouldn't even be a story. The entire reason Harestar now believes Frostpaw at all is because she proved WindClan would be in danger during a storm and saved one of their kits; Leafstar has so far had no such evidence besides word alone, and considering how much her Clan has gone through up to this point, can you really blame her for being skeptical of—from her PoV—a former medicine cat apprentice who has not only been misled in her visions before, but had also purposefully faked her death and is now being publicly supported by the one cat she's constantly been at odds with? Unless the rest of RiverClan deny the exact circumstances of Harelight's death and are convincing enough about it until the end of the book or she's secretly harboring Mothwing and co, she now has her evidence. That said, I'll definitely be disappointed when Leafstar finally goes, but I certainly won't be surprised, either. |
