But she doesn't believe in StarClan or nine lives right? If she believes in the extra lives but not StarClan how does she explain it? Or was she just pretending in front of the other medicine cats

I don't even know. The evidence is right in her face, and yet she still refuses to believe. Mothwing has witnessed StarClan (and the Dark Forest, for that matter) in action. She's seen Clanmantes die during the great battle, she treated real injuries, she may have even fought herself. Yet, Mothwing continues to deny their existence. It drives me mad. Do the Erins believe that atheists are too stubborn to change, or something?

Could be a front? Not everyone knows she doesn't believe in StarClan. She still goes to Moonpool if she has to, and pretends to dream about them, remember?

I think she just doesn't want to believe in StarClan because of Hawkfrost and she is using that to come up with whatever reason she uses to not see what is right in front of her.

she could've easily altered her sentence to align with her subtle disbelief, so i don''t think she was trying to pretend.
mothwing has also encountered the burning reed sign. the one that wouldn't burn out or get washed away from the rain. she acknowledges supernatural occurrences but is too stubborn to connect the dots that are right in front of her.
i really enjoyed that moment where she wants to remind krestrelflight's escorts that the moonpool is for medicine cat. hope she realizes why its for medicine cats and actually start doing off instead of telling off other cats about it.
