I have actually still not seen it yet- would need to pirate if i do. But from what I can tell non-fans love it, fans are strongly divided. Mostly because Bethesda is going to treat the show as canon from here on, but the timeline either doesn't work out or retcons parts of New Vegas, and considering NV is widely considered the best Fallout game and is basically the only thing holding Fallouts storyline together between 1 & 2 to 3 & 4. So, if New Vegas events don't happen, then you might as well consider them two different timelines entirely with only similar worldbuilding and split it right down the middle into to Obsidian's Fallout and Bethesda's Fallout.
Still going to watch it but it was definitely a bad move, or at least they could have done their homework. I mean, fans have literally already done the work for them on that because there is an entire wiki page dedicated to outline the most important events in what locations and date they happened in.

Idk what any of this means but the story seems to flow fine and the overall ratings are pretty good at an 8.7/10 on IMDB and a 94% on rotten tomatoes. Though, I can imagine why a game fan would be more nitpicky when it comes to things like the lore.

Though, I can imagine why a game fan would be more nitpicky when it comes to things like the lore. Fallout 1 & 2 were made by the game company Obsidian and are both gameplay and tonally very different from the new games, after Bethesda bought the rights to Fallout. But New Vegas is kind of their "link" game, because Bethesda worked WITH Obsidian on it and the events tied the old & new games together, both in tone and story. But from what people are saying, and Bethesda saying the show is canon. It retcons Fallout fans favorite game and essentially, 1 & 2 with it since they won't have those pieces of lore to hold it together. Imagine if Warrior cats made a movie that followed the lake and part of its plot subtly retconned the forest entirely, but then you have issues like: where did firestar and skyclan come from? why is tigerstar and his kin important? which will never be resolved without the original arc. I believe what people have said about it being good its just. Either intentionally disregarding or being sloppy about source material. Which is gonna annoy people. I think they shouldn't treat it as canon and instead have kept it "based on". Supplementary material.

I know I'm kinda late to the thread but I honestly really liked the show! I've been a fan of the games for a while so I am biased, but the show does a good job of not relying heavily on them. I saw the New Vegas fanboys complaining about how to retcons stuff, though Todd himself said while the show is canon, it does not change New Vegas' timeline and it's still a part of the lore. Some comments were made about Fallout 4 too. I guess we'll have to wait to see in the next season.
Anyway, while I liked all the protagonists, I was surprised with how much I liked Lucy. As well as Norm and Chet, who I know were kinda secondary characters but honestly the whole Vault mystery was really well done and there were times I was more invested in that then what the three main protagonists were doing. The secondary characters (Norm, Chet, Steph, and Thaddeus off the top of my head) were super enjoyable and I love them.
