A year ago, I started watching Breaking Bad, but once I got halfway through season 2, I stopped watching it because Walter White annoyed me with how he kept treating Jesse, that poor kid can't catch a break. Anyway, everyone and their grandmas seem to love this show, so I'm thinking of giving it another shot, but I'm wondering if he gets more likable as the show goes on or if he continues to be annoying

i was actually just thinking abt starting this show. i just rlly hate contemporary fiction where people get away with doing awful things and i feel like this show is gonna have a lot of that. but aaron paul is cool and i've been told Jesse is kinda the best part of the show so i'm curious.

I haven't seen the show in a hot minute, but from what I recall, Walter being as horrible as he is... is kinda the point. You don't exactly become meth distributor without becoming at least a little morally corrupt, after all. Jesse's definitely the best part of the show, though!

One shouldn’t expect Haau-Mun Je, The One Who Knocks, to change from his ways. This will give Jesse further shock.

Walter gets worse and his treatment of Jesse does not improve. There are ups and downs but their relationship is NOT ever good.
If that keeps you from watching then yeah it's not enjoyable. But I would say keep going at least through season 3 (my favorite part in the series is the s3 finale). Season 4 is also really good. If you really like Jesse... maybe stop after the s4 finale lol because season 5 is not nice to him at all.

Not sure if anyone gets away with it. Edit: breaking bad and it's spin off better call saul are actually widely appreciated for how the characters eventually confront their own actions and face the consequences. They do it very well.

I personally don’t know Breaking Bad from much but memes, and I personally don’t like Walter at all, and think he’s kind of a a disgusting character altogether…? But then again I haven’t really seen much of the show.

To answer your question, he gets more engaging but if you’re wondering if he becomes better (as a person). Without giving too much away the answer is no. He is a character progressively gets worse the longer the show goes as it is about his fall to the dark side and eventually becoming a villain. But just to let you know he is show is good, and absolutely worth getting though, and I do recommend it. But just keep in mind that he is a character that intended to be compelling but not necessarily meant to be likable.
Additionally, Jesse does maintain his sympathetic traits for the majority of the series, which adds a bit more levity to the show. And yes I do think he deserves better.
