Usually I like to wait for an arc to be completed before judging it in its entirety, but so far, the previous three books are definitely a vast improvement in terms of how Sunbeam and especially Nightheart were handled compared to the first two. Frostpaw and her story I've just always been more invested in from the get-go, but if I were to rank this arc now, it'd probably go: TBC PoT DotC AVoS ASC TNP OotS TPB So, neutral, I guess? The first two books are still a pain to get through when I read Nightheart's chapters and I really wish all three protags had interacted much sooner. At least Bristlefrost, Shadowsight, and Rootspring were all connected to the main plot from the start, but Nightheart and Sunbeam have felt so disconnected from the main conflict until recently, and even then, Sunbeam technically doesn't really get involved until the end of Wind .

It's better than the two trainwrecks known as AVOS and TBC, but I'm disliking it at this point. The plot has barely moved forward. Putting the rest in spoilers because of Wind. Literally nothing happened in Wind. It went 279 pages without nothing, and then in a single page Splashtail kills Harelight and Berryheart becomes the new deputy. Which is insane. Splashtail isn't a compelling villain at all, he's like 2 years old, not powerful in the least, and his only ally is Podlight. He's not manipulative like Hawkfrost was, physically intimidating like Tigerstar was, or batright cruel like Brokenstar was. He, quite literally, is a joke. The plot hasn't moved at all - we're still in the "RiverClan has no leader" boat. And honestly, that's the plot of ASC.
You could edit all the books, take Nightheart and Sunbeam's POV out, and the plot wouldn't change. They're really only there to satisfy the mandatory 3 POV. Like, what exactly is Nightheart's character arc? After Shadow, he does nothing. He goes with Frostpaw, yeah, but what exactly did he do other than get her in trouble? And he does absolutely nothing in Wind, and I don't think he'll do anything in Star either. Sunbeam is a bit more interesting, but still, she doesn't add anything to the overarching plot. You could argue that she shows up as part of the plot about the changing warrior code... but other than that... okay? What exactly does she do? It would be interesting if they actually put some of the other new code in motion (cough overthrowing a leader cough) but that's not going to happen because the editors love Tigerheart too much, although I see it happening with Squirrelflight considering how much they use her as a punching bag.
This isn't really a great arc - the story moves along way too slowly, and the overarching plot relies on a single protagonist, Frostpaw. Sunbeam and Nightheart aren't connected to the major story at all, they're off doing their own thing. Also, the high school drama between Sunbeam/Blazefire/Lightleap really was terrible in the first 3 books. Nothing is really happening other than page filler to get to the number of pages needed so it's considered a book and not a novella. It doesn't exactly help that these books have the shortest number of pages out of all the arcs. There's no substance to this arc... and it's terribly boring when we change POVs from Frostpaw to Sunbeam and Nightheart.
Over all, I dislike it. It's better than AVOS and TBC but that really isn't a good thing.

It's not as great as TBC was, but it's better than the slog that was OotS, for example. I think it primarily suffers from that the first two books are rather slow to get into the main plot and only one protagonist (Frostpaw) has any connection to it. Nightheart and Sunbeam most of the time are off doing their own thing and all three protags never interacted that much up until the latest book. The first two books are also just...not enjoyable, and feel like they just druge on. The other three however, are vast improvements for both plot and character-wise. I overall like the angle of Clan politics they're showing too.
Splashtail and Curlfeather are great villains. I love how manipulative and cunning Splashtail is. He feels like a much better written version of Hawkfrost, and feels like a genuine threat while also having and having an interesting rise to power. Curlfeather is good too, but I wish we actually got to see more of her. Would love to see how the whole conspiracy formed.

They really cooked with this one. We get a POV romantic pairing that actually works, a very well-developed apprentice when all the previous ones have been stuck in a neurotic place throughout, and a reminder that sometimes, the Clans are their own worst enemy. If they stick the landing with Star, it might replace DoTC as my favorite arc.

I really love this arc so far! Mostly because of Nightheart and Sunbeam! They have such a healthy relationship and communicate well! And have each other’s backs, even when unsure.
I also liked the park cat’s healing ways through meditation and licking!
I much prefer that the treat to the Clans is internal and rooted in reality again, too!

I really like the three protagonists of this arc and their interaction, but emotionally speaking, due to my love for Mistystar and Reedwhisker, I still feel that the author team's hasty death of the two for the sake of plot advancement is toooooooo bad. My poor Reed deserves what belongs to him

This is tied with POT as my favorite arc followed closely with TPB. My order would go ASC/POT, TPB, OOTS/TNP/AVOS/TBC, DOTC. I personally really didn’t care for Dawn of the Clans. I didn’t really like any of the characters and I hated how Bumble was treated so terribly in Thunder Rising. Overall I am more a fan of the modern clans.

I haven't read it, but from the spoilers it seems cool, much better than TBC. I am dying, not literally, obviously, over the fact that Splashtail is a villain in this arc because way back when he was first introduced as a kit, I joked that he'd be the next villain because he was a randomly occurring dark brown tabby, and now, here we are. Next joke: He's Hawkfrost reincarnated

I love it so far. It's nice getting an arc almost entirely focused on inter-clan politics, and the characters feel a little more fleshed out
