The cats in question: Darkstripe, Sandstorm, Graystripe, Ravenpaw, Dustpelt, Ashfur, Ferncloud
Graystripe is canonically Willowpelt's son, & Ashfur & Ferncloud have obviously been Brindleface's kits since the beginning but who do you see as their fathers?
And I know the family tree claims Darkstripe's mother is Willowpelt, RavenDust are RobinFuzzy kits, & Whitstorm is AshFern's father, but they aren't officially canon in the books.
Do you accept the family tree as canon or see other cats as their parents? As for Sandstorm 2 unknown parents & Darkstripe & Graystripe's unknown fathers, who do you think they are?
In my opinion...
Ferncloud & Ashfur:
I don't mind Whitestorm as Ferncloud & Ashfur's father, but he's not my favorite option since he has so many descendants through Sorreltail already so him being Ferncloud's father just makes Ivypool & Fersongs kits more inbred than they need to be.
I think Runningwind would be a fine choice, he was who Vicky initially believed to be their father and he's a bit better than Whitestorm genetic diversity wise.
Redtail is an ok choice too, while he doesn't seem to have any relationship with Brindleface in his messy novella, Daisy's whole novella went by without the name Spiderleg even appearing once so it's whatever. They could've had a one night stand he just didn't think about & he died before realizing she was expecting his kits or something.
I'd also be fine with a random kittypet or rogue, I guess Ashfur is the epitome of fatherless behavior after all.
Ravenpaw & Dustpelt:
I guess Robinwing & Fuzzypelt actually look like them so it works I guess.
I'll always hate the fact Ferncloud is Dustpelt's niece though, I think that's a bit too closely related for me to feel comfortable & the Erins even axed the Foxleap x Rosepetel ship they were setting up due to them being uncle & niece.
Graystripe:
Popular theory seems to be that his dad's a kittypet or rogue, which is reasonable but a bit boring for my personal taste.
I like the idea of him being Featherwhisker's son because him being the product of a forbidden relationship would be kinda fun. Plus Featherwhisker doesn't have any relatives besides his brother Sunstar who also died childless so a little pinch of genetic diversity would be nice.
I also heard the idea of Thrushpelt being his father & I'd kinda love that ngl.

I don't like his mother being Willowpelt if I'm being honest, she feels too young. I don't really like Tawnyspots being his father either, I'd rather he be another FuzzyRobin spawn ( it can't ruin the family tree more since he has no descendants anyway) or Speckletail & Smallear's offspring.
Sandstorm:
I can't see her mother as Brindleface, even if they had a distant relationship like Graystripe/Willowpelt & everyone forgot Brindleface was her mom, her non-reaction to Brindle's death is too much.
I can't see Redtail as her father either, she was alive during his life so it makes 0 sense for him to not think of her at all if she was his kit even if his mate is non-existant in his thoughts.
I think her mother should be Rosetail. Dead before the first arc so it makes sense Sandstorm doesn't conveniently ignore her mother or anything.
I'm also fine with Dappletail for genetic diversity purposes & I think Sandstorm looks a good deal like Dappletail's mother Rainfur & brother Thrushpelt.
I think Runningwind should be her dad (as long as he's not also AshFern's dad) with either of Windflight's daughters as her mom. Toms weren't really expected to be parents in the first arc anyways.
