Didn’t Hawkfrost mention that he was worried Stormfur would be chosen as deputy if he and Brook stayed with the Clans? So we know he has the potential, but he’s old. Let him not worry about the hardships of leadership and give the role to a younger cat.

That being said, while Stormfur is pretty old (only a few days younger than Brambleclaw according to FoS), having a Stormstar as RiverClan leader could be a neat callback to Crookedstar's former name and what his leadername could've been, especially since Stormfur is his actual grandson.

I’m all for Stormstar. I’m fine with somewhat older cats taking leadership positions since they at least have experience and wisdom I just think a leader should be at the least 2 years old when they become leader otherwise they are just to young and in experienced. The best age frame is probably 2-6 years old. Just as long as Froststar doesn’t happen I will be happy. Frostpaw is a great medicine cat for RiverClan while her original destiny was not as a medicine cat similar to Cinderpelt and Puddleshine she is the medicine cat with a connection to StarClan that her clan needs.

Stormfur coming back after years of living with the Tribe in order to be Riverclan's "messiah" sounds about as bad fanfiction as Frostpaw suddenly becoming leader.

I love Stormfur, but I'd rather not. Just like Squilf, I'd rather the TNP cast not be relevant anymore. Besides, his home is in the mountains now, where he is happy with his family and tribe.

Now if one of his kids were to be RiverClan’s new leader, that would be interesting. The second litter is a bit on the young side but as long as any of the four have mentored a to-be, they’d be a decent candidate.
Plus, it would subvert the typical issues with the tribe where tribe members have to save one of the Clans.

If the series were retconned so Stormfur hadn't moved to the Tribe, or perhaps stayed in RiverClan when he and Brooke got exiled, it would have been awesome to see him become RiverClan's leader in Arc 4 or 5. Ideally with Leopardstar dying midway through Arc 3 and being succeeded by Mistystar for a few books before she kicks the bucket too. (I miss the days where cats had solid, concise story arcs! :-P ).

I say this mainly as I love the thought of Crookedstar's bloodline remaining in RiverClan. It seems Mapleshade finally succeeding in wiping his descendants from the Clan since Reedwhisker never had kits! I wonder if she can fade away now ...

The part of me that loves Stormfur and always wants more Stormfur content would jump for joy, BUT...I also love his whole thing of finding his place outside of RiverClan and outside of the clans in general, so nah, I'd prefer if it didn't happen.

Totally agree Sundance. I've been wondering if Erin would reintroduce Mapleshade's curse on Appledusk by pointing out that Duskfur's mate is actually Reedwhisker, and that Mapleshade, as the manipulator behind the scenes, incited Curlfeather to murder and usurp her father, and in turn engineered her demise via Splashtail.
However, so far the plot doesn't seem to be showing any signs of moving in that direction, with our Reedwhisker remaining a poor old bachelor and Curlfeather being just one of the RiverClan cats randomly chosen by the author team to be the villain.
If Stormfur (as Appledusk's only surviving clancat descendant at the moment) does return to the lake in a new arc, one way or another, I think it would be an interesting kind of plot development. Though I think the odds are that it's just because Erin couldn't come up with any new ideas and needed to pull the tribal cats out of the hat again (similar to SkyClan in Arc 6)
