Chances for 90L remain unchanged at 10%/20% in 2 and 7 days respectively. A low-level circulation was visible offshore Western Florida earlier today. How it does once it emerges offshore eastern Florida into the open Atlantic remains to be seen.

Invest 90L is inland over Florida. The Low-level center is poorly defined now but still visible. A second disturbance has been marked in the Gulf of Mexico’s Bay of Campeche, with a 0\30 in the 2 day and 7 day chances. No changes yet the the Eastern Pacific area of interest yet, but it will like contribute to the formation of the Bay of Campeche system if not becoming the system.

Well Invest 90L was a dud. But we have two new systems in the Atlantic with the Bay of Campeche system likely to become our first storm in the Atlantic this year. It is the Atlantic’s latest start since 1994.
Another system could form from a front east of the Bahamas in the Atlantic in a weeks time.
We finally have our first Eastern Pacific invest in 90E. It could sneakily become a short-lived tropical depression before moving inland tonight. But the Eastern Pacific has yet to see its first storm of the year.
Models keep treading a very powerful typhoon in the Western Pacific in about two weeks. Well I say models but it’s only the GFS so far doing it.

Potential Tropical Cyclone One is expected to have a 45 mph peak and is expected to landfall in either Mexico or Texas. NHC note though that the system has a chance of never becoming a tropical cyclone.
Keep watching the Gulf for next week, as another signal is growing for a possible system in the coming weeks. It would originate from a tropical wave and the Central American Gyre.
The Southwest Atlantic system’s model support is weaker than before but it could still become a subtropical or tropical cyclone against model guidance.
After how underestimated the models projected Hurricane Otis last year to intensify/peak (First advisory expected a tropical storm at landfall, a day later it was expected to be a Category 1 at landfall; ended up a monstrous Category 5) Models even showed Otis tangled up with the Intertropical Convergence Zone when in reality it was already a tropical storm. I will watch realtime before seeing the modeled outcome.
