Introduction! So recently I've seen the internet swarming with "OMG, THERES GONNA BE A HUGE SOLAR FLARE CUTTING OF ALL OF THE INTERNET WIFI FOIR SEVERAL MONTHS, oMg SoLaR fLaRe!!!!!" Its pretty annoying, well i am bringing in smart people or even just curious people to discuss, hold on, YO BRAMBLECLAW TURN ON THE THINKINK MUSIC, ok so as I was saying, we are discussing if the 2025 solar flare is real,
What are solar flares? So, solar flares are intense, electromagnetic radiation from the suns atmosphere, NOW I do not know how these solar flares work, my theory is that they have some sort of signal that interferes with the internet signal and cuts it off, now they CANNOT burn up the earth so don't worry. You've probably experienced thousands of them and don't even know it! Now there is this thing where people are saying that there's some sort of 11 year cycle of solar flares, I personally think its cap, BUT I do not know much about solar flares so it might be real IDK.
Why I think it probably wont hit, IF IT DOES EVEN HAPPEN! Ok, SO, I WHAT IF the earth is in a completely different place of the orbit and the solar flare misses? What if the solar flare is not even as big as scientist's thought it would be and it barley takes effect!

Apparently discussions about this have been going on at least since 2021, so it isn't exactly recent news. That said, this is my first time hearing about this and so I immediately went to Snopes: www.snopes.com/fact-check/nasa-memo-pending-internet-apocalypse/ And even if I hadn't, I thought it was pretty common knowledge that solar flares aren't that powerful. Then again, it's also the internet.

Oh this has been in discussion for years (hi I keep up on space related news), however it is not as big of a deal as the internet makes it out to be. Likely, some places may lose internet for a couple hours, but no more than a few days, and even then it’s not a guarantee.

I believe the government is more likely to shut the electrical grid off than a solar flare in a what-if the internet shut down scenario. However I’ve seen some people claim there was a solar flare in the 1800’s that disrupted the telegraph system. How widespread or how long that was, I’m not sure. Technology has advanced a lot since then though, so I imagine our technology would be stronger and more capable of withstanding something like this if it did happen again.

I don't think that's how the internet works.

solar flares can happen and would definitely be bad, look at the carrington event. on a largescale we'd probably be fine, and i do doubt that we see anything on that scale happen (despite the increased likelihood)
i think recently actually we narrowly avoided a pretty big solar flare that mightve caused some issues. stuffs just random, and not worth worrying about. if it happens it happens but we cant change whats going on up there
