The fandom has been calling for an evil protagonist, especially an evil medicine cat, for ages. She would have made for the perfect one. Imagine if she had been in cahoots to kill Mistystar all along but kept it from the reader, unreliable narrator that she is. Or if she appeared naive and easily taken advantage of by Splashtail only for her to back stab and betray him, usurping power for herself and revealing that she was always the real threat.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with Frostpaw's characterization so far and, given the current narrative, I'm rooting for her to become a benevolent leader of RiverClan, but this idea popped into my head so I wanted to share it. :-P
Thoughts on evil Frostpaw?
Similarly: if one of the current POV characters had been given a more antagonistic role in the arc, who would you have wanted it to be? (POLL QUESTION)

I wanted evil nightheart so bad (but in a way where he might redeem himself at the end, like clear sky done right).
Evil frostpaw could have been cool but I like her either way. Her story is unique enough.

Honestly wanted Nightheart to stay in Shadowclan or at the very least, become evil to his family. That would have been an interesting development from his family's legacy.

I wouldn't want any of them to become *fully evil* but rather misled. I've always enjoyed the pov characters who get manipulated by the villains...
Sunbeam going along with her mother's ideals without realizing the full extent of them, or Frostpaw being further manipulated by Splashtail, would have been really cool to see.

I feel like a lot of people kinda expected Frostpaw to become a medicine cat villain, myself included back then, due to Kate Cary's comment when asked to describe her as a character while ASC just started. Because she said that Frostpaw's soul was "the colour of a chilly leaf-bare dawn" which does sound rather ominous in a way, though I suppose it can be interpreted differently in retrospect.
I voted for Nightheart though. Because a direct Firekin member antagonist sounded fun as a concept at the time. Even though I understand why it wasn't done in canon and don't exactly hate his actual character arc. That being said, I think there could've been more to his story. Heck, an eventual redemption would've had the potential for a great conclusion with impact. As in, Nightheart snaps under the excpectations/pressure of Firestar's legacy and goes rogue for a bit. Although there are a few changes I'd make to his character, appearance, name and so on.
First order of business would be to change his appearance from all black to ginger. There is a reason so many people continue to say that his story arc could easily have been given to his mother Sparkpelt due to her getting described as a literal Firestar clone, after all. The difference with her is that the writers never bothered to showcase her having problems with Firestar's legacy. Which could easily be rewritten to be a mask on her part or be used in her son's rewritten story to act as a mirror to his own negative experiences while she is proud of her heritage and enjoys the attention and praise that being a Firestar clone might get her from her Clanmates. Just spitballing some ideas at this point but will likely expand on this and write a full AU summary for it soon.
Sunbeam only really had potential as a bad guy after the third book when there were a bunch of rumors/theories that she potentially turned evil from a broken heart after Nightheart left her to go back to his birth Clan and that she was only joining his Clan to get revenge on him or being used by her mother Berryheart to spy on them. The first reason is quite over the top in hindsight lol.

Ok so someone please agree with me, we need LGBTQ cats in Warriors. Even if it isn't outright said because of publishing issues, having a cat who nonchalantly tells the clan they are trans, or nonbinary, or just say their pronouns would be fine. I have been waiting for a cat like this the ENTIRE TIME I HAVE BEEN READING THIS SERIES. Just have too male or female cats get together! Don't outwardly make them the main characters of a new series just because they are LGBTQ, just have them be minor characters who are still mentioned at times!

Don't outwardly make them the main characters of a new series just because they are LGBTQ, just have them be minor characters who are still mentioned at times! We already somewhat have this (though not officially but the fandom at large sees it as canon) with TallJake (Tallstar x Jake) and RavenBarley (Ravenpaw x Barley). I think one of the big reasons as to why the Warriors series still sadly does not have actual LGBTQIA+ rep though is due to the publisher Harper Collins wanting to continue making money/sales in countries that don't exactly have LGBTQIA+ friendly laws but bring in profit, such as Russia and China. But anyway, this specific thread is not about the topic you've brought up (it's about Frostpaw's previous villain potential and that of the other ASC protags instead) . I'm sure making your own thread about it on Warriors General will bring in more discussion on the issue, which multiple other people already pointed out in the past as well.

Sorry, I joined yesterday and I thought this was just the general WC discussion and the last thing a person said was that frostpaw should have been evilโฆ sorry! No worries, welcome to the forums! Warriors General (the forum board we are currently on) is indeed for general discussion purposes. But the threads people make have different topics (displayed with the title). And in this case, the topic of discussion for the thread is about Frostpaw's villain potential with 'Frostpaw Should Have Been Evil' being the thread title and thus topic. Of course, sometimes other topics can come up within a thread and be discussed by a few members for a bit (which is still referred to as thread derailment more often than not). But considering that no one brought up LGBTQIA+ content on here, regarding Frostpaw or other characters before you did, it came a tad out of nowhere and just did not have to do with the actual topic of discussion on this thread. I just saw that fellow forum user pepperflake made a recent thread about LGBTQIA+ rep in the Warriors series on WG though so you might be interested in checking that one out or, again, even make your own thread on the topic.

I am putting all my bets on Birchpaw for being an evil protagonist in arc 9,but more like a Darkstalker if you read Wings of Fire. (No,I donโt even know is Birchpaw will be a protagonis, but the Erins have set it up so well for him to be a protagonist)
