I've always liked Lionblaze, I just wish his story hadn't been turned into a soap opera in OotS, at least in terms of how it was executed.

Lionblaze is one of my favorite characters. While my favorite list changes constantly, practically every day, Lionblaze and his littermates are always on it.

I really do like him. I think he's overshadowed by Jayfeather and Hollyleaf, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Lionblaze. I love his relationship with Cinderheart, how he trained Dovewing, how he cares so much about Jayfeather / his relationship with Hollyleaf. They always bickered but Lionblaze worried the most about her, and his line in TFW where he says something along the lines, "I won't let you run away again, Hollyleaf!" when he sees her with Dovewing and Ivypool always gets me. I also liked how a big part of his plot line in POT was the line between him and Tigerstar disappearing, and how he was turning into the dark warrior. I thought it was better done than Brambleclaw/Tigerstar.

I think it's not that Lionblaze himself is poorly written, it's just that Jayfeather and Hollyleaf are...better written? More compelling? Something like that. I like them all but I think Lionblaze is focused on less simply because he was introduced in the same arc as his siblings. I've always found him compelling, and imo he’s a more complex character than the fandom gives him credit for. Re-reading I've found he's also got a pretty snarky attitude sometimes, like Jayfeather.
I know many people found him to be a bore, but I personally enjoyed his chapters. His characterization in PoT and TBC was fantastic too. They definitely dropped the ball with him in OotS though, as much as I like LionCinder.

Lionblaze being on the edge of having a breakdown in TBC was incredibly fun to read, I loved that he's just a guy who struggles with self control and his biggest problem is his temper. Even then, he was clearly trying, it's just that the stress of having his crazy mentor and near murderer brought back and possess his step father's body would be horrible for a lot of people

I've said it before and I'll say it again: not having Lionblaze be the one who takes down Tigerstar in TLH was a major waste of his character.
