post directory: post 1 | post 2 | post 3 | post 4 | post 5 | post 6 | post 7 | post 8 | post 9 IntroductionA thin, silver-blue molly strides up to a vast lake, its turquoise colored waters swaying wildly against the breeze. Two swallows fly overhead, chasing each other into the sunset. The molly stares at the lake with a soft grin, her green eyes flickering in the pale sunlight. She knows this is the place. The place for LakeClan to call their home.
Terra was right, but her prediction did not last for long. LakeClan thrived easily off their large territory, with the lake being the largest provider to their needs. The abundance of fish and songbirds kept them well fed for moons to come. Even when leafbare came around, they rarely starved. They were fortunate for their new beginnings after a deadly fire brought them to the Cypress Lake. Their territory had everything any clan cat could ask for; a forest, caves, bodies of water, and a camp that they called home. It was all well kept, organized, and seemingly built to be perfect. And it was, it really was perfect.
Yet all of it meant nothing once LakeClan's leader, Spiderwatcher, and deputy, Birchfog, chose war. Spiderwatcher was considered to be too cautious by Birchfog's standards which led them to distrust. The mistrust between the two cats led them to post themselves before any other cat. Their feud spread like wildfire, similar to the one that almost purged their entire clan many moons ago. Once the bickering turned physical, cats chose to take sides between the cats. Blood was shed, lives were lost, and territory was destroyed. As the moons went on, the silver-blue molly appeared once more. Except this time, she was not alone.
Three cats had joined her. A short calico she-cat and a brown black feline stood before them. There was also an odd lilac molly who appeared as a silhouette. Spiderwatcher and Birchfog had lost enough cats to their senseless war. It had sent LakeClan into chaos and there was no going back. The two leaders refused to fix their relationship. Instead, Justitia, the transparent molly, chose their fate like she did with every cat.
"Since you two refuse to mend your relationship, there is no point in saving LakeClan," she mewed coldly, her copper eyes full of fury.
Birchfog opened their maw, prepared to retort. Justitia wasn't going to get away with this so easily. "You know that's not true!" they spat with their pale yellow eyes fixated on the goddess. "This entire time, any of you could have stopped the war. You didn't."
Spiderwatcher, who was still in shock and appalled by his former deputy's words, stood still. His murky amber flickered with concern. It wasn't long until Justitia hissed, startling the white and black tomcat.
"You both have the experience and tools to create a clan of your own. You know the consequences of your actions will follow you for the rest of your life. If either clan ends up in ruins, you have no cat to blame but yourselves," the odd lilac molly growled furiously, ignoring Birchfog's comment.
Before any of the cats could blink, Justitia was gone. The two war leaders glanced at each other and noticed that the calico she-cat was gone as well. Even the brown-black cat had disappeared. The cavern grew dark as midnight approached and soon enough, a crackle from the sky could be heard. Thunder boomed as the cavern floor began to tremble ever so lightly. It was clear Justitia was furious. The two cats turned to each other for the first time in moons with their claws sheathed and widened eyes. "We have to tell everyone," Spiderwatcher meowed, almost choking on his words. Silence hung in the air until lightning struck once again.
"I know," Birchfog responded curtly as mixed emotions seeped into his tone. "We'll tell them at dawn together for the last time." About the Role-PlayOliveClan and StarlingClan are part of a two clan role-play. They were once part of LakeClan which recently separated two moons ago. As LakeClan no longer exists, this means the former members of the clan have either joined OliveClan or StarlingClan. Some cats may have left their kin behind for many reasons. The tension between the clans in the role-play will be strong and unwavering. Some cats may regret their choice and some may think it's the best for everyone. There is the possibility of cats feeling indifferent to it as well. You can decide whatever you find fitting for your character(s) in this odd situation. You do you.
The divide between both clans will be a main plot point in the role-play. It will take place two months after the separation which was approved by the Pantheon. post directory: post 1 | post 2 | post 3 | post 4 | post 5 | post 6 | post 7 | post 8 | post 9 HistoryMany moons ago, OliveClan and StarlingClan were not separate clans. They were a unified clan known as LakeClan. The ancestors of LakeClan came from the south, where a perilous fire had killed many cats. They were nomadic, so naturally, they traveled to the north. In hopes of finding another place to call home for a few moons, they instead were greeted by a silver blue she-cat known as Terra.
Terra had followed and purposefully led the nomadic group to the north as they found a home near a vast, turquoise lake. She knew this was the perfect place for LakeClan's beginning. Once the cats had met Terra, they agreed to form LakeClan, in honor of their deceased group members. It was a way for them to earn a new beginning, one that would keep them away from danger.
Within forty-eight moons, LakeClan was falling apart at the seams. Their leader at the time, Spiderwatcher, was seen as overprotective and too cautious. The deputy, Birchfog, was known to be a determined thrill seeker. The two felines began to disagree about LakeClan's future, as Birchfog wanted to expand the clan's territory. Since there was no cat living on that land, they believed an expansion was just. Spiderwatcher told his deputy that he would think about it carefully. He didn't want to make a hasty decision. Soon after, the leader agreed with Birchfog and a patrol was sent out to the new territory. The LakeClan patrol spent four sunrises expanding their territory until they came upon a band of rogues. At the time, the clan had no knowledge that the rogue group was living there temporarily. The LakeClan patrol realized that the new territory belonged to the rogues, so Spiderwatcher ordered his clanmates to leave. The leader's late decision had ruined Birchfog's expansion plans.
The deputy blamed their brother for deciding too late when the clan could have profited from bountiful prey and herbs. Suddenly, Spiderwatcher was backtracking on the clan's botched expansion. He claimed that he would not take prey away from the band of rogues, despite his clan living adequately. The two bickered constantly, leading to chaotic discourse. It did not take long for Birchfog to grow furious. They were fed up with their brother's behavior and they insisted that the clan had every right to take the territory away from the rogues. The white and black cat began recruiting clanmates based on how they felt about Spiderwatcher's leadership. Once word got to Spiderwatcher, he realized he too needed to prepare for the worst outcome. He recruited any cats that were loyal to him.
Not long after every cat had chosen a side, a civil war broke out. Birchfog ambushed Spiderwatcher's den during the night, despite them living in the same camp among their clanmates. In a hurry, claws were unsheathed, fur was flying in the night breeze, and things began to take a turn for the worse. Battle after battle, the divided cats of LakeClan became heavily injured or lost their lives to protect their clan. Spiderwatcher's mate, Willowshroud, died from wounds sustained in battle against Birchfog. Once Spiderwatcher learned that his mate was gone, he reluctantly withdrew from the civil war, but refused to apologize to his sibling. Since neither cat wished to try and mend their relationship, a decision was made for them by Justitia, the goddess of death. LakeClan ceased to exist. Instead, the story of OliveClan and StarlingClan quickly took to the spotlight.
Only time can tell where the newly founded clans will go from here. The PantheonThe Pantheon consists of many god and goddesses, mainly ones that come from Roman mythology. The cats of OliveClan and StarlingClan follow them as it is their connection to their version of StarClan and Dark Forest. They also have a deity for their respective clan.
When a cat becomes leader, the Pantheon gives them their nine lives and new suffix. The suffixes were picked by Pax and Nerio, the deities of OliveClan and StarlingClan. Once a cat reaches death, their life is in the paws of Justitia. As the goddess of death, she seals their fate early on and decides where they will go in the after life. The clans pray to the Pantheon during each Gathering, asking for their guidance.
Shared Gods & GoddessesTerra is a short-haired silver blue she-cat with large peridot green eyes. Known to be the personification of Earth, she is the oldest ancestor of the Pantheon. She is not always present in feline form. Terra founded LakeClan's territory by helping the nomadic cats find their way to their home. Quiet and perceptive, it's no wonder that Terra keeps mostly to herself. She rarely speaks with the clans unless it is necessary.
Jupiter is a fluffy ginger mackerel tabby tom with copper eyes and a deep scar across his flank. He is the god of the sky. In his position, Jupiter is a divine witness to oaths which are sacred trusts held by the Pantheon, OliveClan, and StarlingClan. For instance, when leader ceremonies are held, Jupiter is one of the many cats to give a life. He always presides over multiple ceremonies. Some cats believe that Jupiter is the god who controls the weather. It has yet to be proven by the god himself. His kits are Mars and Minerva. Mars is a pale ginger mackerel tabby tom with white paws and green eyes. Unlike his father, Jupiter, he is methodical and sneaky. As the god of war and agriculture, Mars seems to have a paw on two very different worlds. When prey is bountiful, it is considered as a gift from Mars. It is almost as if he has blessed the clans. Yet when war occurs, he is seen as the culprit. Some of the gods and goddesses believe that Mars caused LakeClan's demise. He, of course, denies it. Quirinus is a stocky pale silver cat with thick black tabby markings. They have folded ears and big hazel eyes. Originally known as the god of LakeClan, Quirinus is rarely present and does not interact with the clans as much as they once did. Instead, they have faded to the background since LakeClan's split. They mentored Pax and Nerio, the deities of OliveClan and StarlingClan. For the time being, Quirinus manages interclan judgements. Terminus is a lanky seal point Siamese tom with a cream body and pale blue eyes. He is the god of the borders. Terminus' duty is simple and straightforward. Known for being strict and unrelenting, his focus is the border between OliveClan and StarlingClan. It is his job to protect it. If a border skirmish takes place, Terminus is present and will step in. He dislikes chaos and refuses to tolerate it within his boundaries. Minerva is the goddess of education and wisdom. She is a short-haired brown tabby she-cat with white paws and pale green eyes. Her father is Jupiter and her half-brother is Mars. She is ambitious yet sympathetic. She guides cats to right and wrong. Minerva teaches the Warrior Code. If a cat breaks the code, they must deal with Sancus.
Sancus is the god of honesty and loyalty. He is a tall, white Oriental tom with heterochromia. Sancus is a soft-spoken god and rarely interferes unless it is necessary. As the god of honesty and loyalty, he connects deeply with warrior apprentices. He is also the god that straightens out cats who break the Warrior Code. He tries to keep an unbiased opinion when dealing with OliveClan and StarlingClan cats. When warrior apprentices become warriors, Sancus is present for their oath. Sometimes he performs the ceremonies himself. Aesculapius is the god of medicine and health. He is a ruddy ticked tabby cat with gold eyes. Aesculapius specializes in healing and is considered by the healers to be their deity. He experimented with herbs at a young age while being formally trained. He became an excellent healer over time and was able to bring cats back from death. However, he no longer has the power to do so. Aesculapius is seen as a resourceful and courteous god. When a healer apprentice is named, Aesculapius leaves a gift behind for them. He encourages healers from both clans to excel at their duties.
Justitia is the goddess of death. She is a short, solid lilac-colored she-cat with big copper eyes. Justitia is known for her cold, blunt demeanor. She usually appears as a transparent silhouette to the cats of OliveClan and StarlingClan. Her duty as the goddess of death is to decide where a cat may go when it dies. There are three stages to death in Justitia's part of the world. Limbo is where a cat waits for her decision. Next is the afterlife. The afterlife has two partitions. The first is StarClan and the other is the Dark Forest. Justitia determines a cat's final resting place based on their behavior and actions throughout their life on Earth. For example, a cat who murders another usually finds themself in the Dark Forest. A cat who serves their clan to the best of their abilities can find themself in StarClan. The DeitiesPax is OliveClan's deity. She is the goddess of peace. She is a medium-haired calico she-cat with narrow green-yellow eyes. She is usually seen as a kind and respectful goddess. She has a difficult yet meaningful place within the clan. She is meant to stabilize the clan after a horrific, deadly war between OliveClan and StarlingClan. One of her duties is to prevent wars from happening. Another duty of hers is to reduce conflict and violence. As their deity, she is supposed to bring prosperity to OliveClan. She chose the leader's suffix, -heart, for the clan's benevolence. Pax has many discussions with Nerio, the deity of StarlingClan. The two communicate often. Nerio is StarlingClan's deity. They are the god of valor and bravery. They are a long-haired brown and black cat with dark moss green eyes. Nerio is known to be a bold and fierce god. It is said that Nerio is volatile especially when it comes to bloodlust. Their duty is to show the capabilities of StarlingClan's members whether it be in hunting, battles, or border skirmishes. Nerio is expected to provide courage and defensive skills to StarlingClan. They chose the leader's suffix, -talon, for the clan's tenacity. They communicate often with Pax, the deity of OliveClan. The two deities tend to bicker about the current relations with both clans.

Moon Twelve: Amberwatcher's Legacy - a large black amber classic tabby she-cat with bright green eyes. - her warrior name was Amberfin - was known for her valuable mediating skills - she was considered to be clear-headed yet stern - lost her first life to blood loss from birthing a litter - she was reckless with herself and lost her nine lives rather quickly - encouraged her clanmates to fight in battles or skirmishes, no matter the risks - her deputy, Flintstrike was killed in a deadly border skirmish - she then picked Darkstep as her next deputy, who retired after 2 or 3 moons due to injuries - ignored her symptoms after greencough epidemic broke out through the camp - refused her treatment from the clan's medicine cat until she became very ill - died after a long battle with redcough notable deputies: Flintstrike, Darkstep (living), Honeypool (later known as Honeywatcher) notable healers: Peppercloud, Fawnheart
Moon Twenty-Four: Honeywatcher's Legacy - a tall golden brown spotted tabby cat with dark green eyes - their name as a warrior was Honeypool - was known for being mellow and easy-going - lost their first life to a fox attack while on a hunting patrol - established a permanent gathering place, The Pointed Boulder, for LakeClan - was more than willing to allow outsiders to join the clan - this caused a divide between Honeywatcher and their clanmates - some cats retaliated by refusing to take in any outsiders who waited at the border - lost their last life to old age notable deputies: Spiderwatcher notable healers: Fawnheart
Moon Forty-Eight: Spiderwatcher's Legacy - a lanky white and black tom with murky amber eyes - his warrior name was Spiderfang - he is known for being approachable, cautious, and overprotective - however, he was reluctant to back down once the news of LakeClan's split began to emerge - a civil war ensued, causing injuries and deaths among the divided clan - once the Pantheon stepped in, both cats chose to concede and followed the Pantheon's order - he now leads OliveClan and kept his name from his time as the leader of LakeClan notable deputies: Birchfog (later known as Birchtalon) notable healers: Darkstep & TBA
Disclaimer: LakeClan's leaders received the suffix of -watcher until OliveClan and StarlingClan were formed. PlotsOliveClan & StarlingClan: The Thought of War It has not been long since OliveClan and StarlingClan became their own entities. The tension is high and the clans are not on friendly terms with each other. As usual, they still hold a Gathering each moon in honor of the Pantheon. The cats of StarlingClan and OliveClan seem to be having second thoughts as some are without their family and friends. While they learn to accept their fate, it's clear that a storm is brewing. Spats at the border are unfortunately common. Some cats are willing to ignore the Warrior Code and steal prey without shame. On some nights, cats meet at the border to fight loneliness. However, the tension is building once more as war looms overhead. Some cats believe that the separation of LakeClan was all for naught because peace hasn't come to them. Instead it seems lives were just ruined and more fighting was the result of it for the time being. Will the hostility become too much for the clans and spark another war? - Involves every cat in OliveClan & StarlingClan.

post directory: post 1 | post 2 | post 3 | post 4 | post 5 | post 6 | post 7 | post 8 | post 9 About OliveClanOliveClan's members consist of former LakeClan cats. Some of them struggle to put the past behind them and don't know how to completely identify with their fresh start. These cats chose to side with Spiderwatcher, who was removed as the leader of LakeClan during an intense civil war. Despite the tension between both clans, the OliveClan cats are able to relax a bit thanks to their calm and collected behavior.
Known for their adaptability and dexterity, the members of OliveClan are notorious for being too tolerant. Just like the cats of their rival clan, they have thick paw pads made for walking across the mountain's tough crags and ridges. Their pelts are usually of all length and vary in color. However, having a shorter coat is beneficial due to the mild and humid weather. This helps a lot during heavy rainfall.
In the past two months, OliveClanners were busy rebuilding their camp after the civil war. They began to enforce new borders with advice from Pax, their deity. During leafbare, a wave of sickness hit the clan and herbs were unusually sparse. Several cats caught yellowcough, but luckily survived. As it is now newleaf, the most necessary herbs are turning up throughout the territory. Border skirmishes are common due to the confusion with both clans' scents and how warriors of both clans are reinforcing the borders. Gatherings are not in session, so OliveClan and StarlingClan do not interact besides running into each other at the borders.
Clan character: Clever, Easygoing & Critical Physical trait(s): Thick paw pads Prey: Fish, birds, mice, hares, squirrels, voles & shrews Predators: Wild boars, snakes, badgers, red foxes, wolves, ibexes, birds of prey (eagles, kites, hawks, falcons, buzzards, etc.), owls & coypuses Weather & Season: sunny partly cloudy & newleaf
Common pelt color: to be defined Common eye color: to be defined
Relationship with StarlingClan: Unfriendly, cold & uneasy Territory & CampSet in Northern Italy, OliveClan and StarlingClan have their fair share of territory from the former home of LakeClan. They share many landmarks. However, the Olive Field and Thundering Creek belong to OliveClan. They also claim part of Cypress Lake as their hunting grounds.
❖ The Cardinal Mountains - The Cardinal Mountains have gentle slopes and sharp peaks. It is covered in broadleaf trees, snug twoleg nests, and craggy rocks. It is a steep, dangerous climb for most cats. ❖ The Divided Valley - It is a long and wide river valley that separates the clans. Trees, shrubs, and fallen rocks are scattered around. A set of large grey rocks mark the border between OliveClan and StarlingClan. ❖ Cypress Lake - Cypress Lake is a vast turquoise lake with plenty of fish in its waters. The lake is a common fishing spot for both clans. A fallen laurel tree creates a border between two banks. Cypress and laurel trees are found close to the lake's banks and shore. ❖ The Pointed Boulder - Shaped like an arrowhead, the Pointed Boulder is the Gathering place for OliveClan and StarlingClan. A few large ferns and broad-leaved trees sit behind the rock. The clans gather here every moon to share news. The leaders always sit on the top of the boulder while their clanmates sit below. ❖ The Olive Field - Rows and rows of olive trees form the Olive Field. It almost appears as an orchard. Birds, specifically starlings, can be found perching in the trees. Other smaller songbirds will feed on the olives, making it a decent place for hunting. ❖ Thundering Creek - A dangerous narrow creek that makes a loud, thundering noise. It flows against walls of rock and ivy. Cats must climb down from the cliff to a pathway that leads to the creek. OliveClan's camp is ancient although well kept up. These cats live almost in the dark as they kept the former camp of LakeClan, but made changes throughout it. Located in the mountainside, a small tunnel leads to a vine covered opening, hanging like drapery. It's difficult to see past the long, lush green vines unless one knows the correct entrance into camp.
❖ the leader's den - a small grey tunnel covered by shrubs and vines. ❖ healer's den - a deep, long tunnel with shelves ingrained into the grey stone. The shelves are used to store herbs. At the back of the den is a small pool which produces fresh water. The ill cats sleep on the right side of the den, not far from the pool. ❖ warriors' den - a wide tunnel with vines and ferns covering it. ❖ apprentices' den - a smaller yet wide tunnel covered by ferns and moss. ❖ the nursery - nestled back by the healer's den, it is a wide den covered by large ferns and bracken. ❖ elders' den - a deeper tunnel covered in lichen.

Darkstep OliveClan - Camp - Open @tag --- He learned very early on that he lacked control of his own paws. Dexterity wasn't a skill a warrior needed to hone, and what little Darkstep might have had in his youth he'd lost from lack of practice. It was repetitive, carefully extracting the veins from oak leaves with a claw, but it was the best way to ensure that he had enough control to be precise when it really mattered. Scraps of green stuck to his white paws, danced around in the dust around him. Two skeleton leaves--empty veins bare as trees in winter--sat off to the side, evidence of his stubborn dedication. Some of the more delicate bits were truncated, snagged by errant claw strokes, but despite his errors, Darkstep was proud of his progress.
At the start of his training, he had struggled to cut free the stems.
The black-and-white tomcat's tail twitched as he worked, for the most part focused on the leaf in his claws, but every time he managed to excavate a stubborn vein--pale yellow against green flesh--he let out a breath, relaxing, allowing his amber eye to roam around OliveClan's camp.
OliveClan. The word buzzed on his tongue, sour as a fermented grape, bringing a scowl to his face as it always did. It wasn't as though Darkstep was a stranger to change: he'd been born a nomad, after all, spent his youth roaming the lands. When LakeClan settled here, having a camp and borders was something he'd needed to grow into. Change was natural; he knew that better than most every cat here. Kits, all of them.
Change wasn't what bothered him. It was the split, the rift, the horror that Clanmate could turn against Clanmate. Blood against blood. And that he had a paw on either side, pulling him further and further apart until he thought he'd split down the middle.
Darkstep saw Spiderwatcher emerge, his amber eye locking onto his son. He could see the tension in the way he held himself, the wariness as he stepped forward, as if the ground were covered in snakes. He wasn't as good at reading Spiderwatcher as he had Birchfog, but they were both his blood. He knew them, better than he knew himself sometimes. And yet... and yet he hadn't seen this coming. Hadn't been able to stop anything as he was scattered across the land like so many raindrops, only now able to collect them together in a cupped leaf and try and find his reflection again.
His next clawstrike went jagged, ripping his delicate work to scrap.

DarkstepOliveClan - Camp - with Spiderwatcher☾ѕησσzє☽ ---Spiderwatcher approached. He figured it was inevitable, really, that his son would try to fix... whatever they'd crumbled into. It was impossible, of course; whatever their small family had once been, it was now in as many pieces as the leaves between Darkstep's paws. "Do you need to gather more, Darkstep?" Spiderwatcher said, voice soft. His words were an offer to help, an olive branch.
How fitting. Darkstep grunted, a sound that could mean anything. Spiderwatcher sat on his right side, his good side, where Darkstep could see him out of the corner of his amber eye. "They're unimportant," he said. Oaks were more common on StarlingClan's side of the lake, but they were plentiful enough on OliveClan's side that a cat could find enough oak leaves for the entire season simply by rolling down the hill and collecting what stuck to their pelt. Which is the main reason Darkstep used oak leaves to train his dexterity.
A blink passed, the older black-and-white tom content to leave the conversation there. After all, he didn't need to explain himself to Spiderwatcher--neither family relation or Clan rank obligated him to speak further. But another sideways glance at Spiderwatcher's long-limbed crouch, his earnest face contrasted with the hunched shoulders, eased a few more words from his mouth: "They are supposed to be this way, see?" He plucked one of his more successful works from the pile, the thin, yellowed vein of the leaf all that remained once the green was carved away. Darkstep twisted it between his claws, marveling at the shape, the similarity to bones with the flesh eaten away.
"My claws weren't meant for this," he muttered, more to himself than to Spiderwatcher, dropping the skeleton leaf onto the pile of scrap and pinning it there with a claw, piercing a hole through the pile until he hit stone.

[[ My brain just blanked writing the starter and forgot OliveClan was underground woop. I don't think it was all too wrong, but maybe there would be less breezes moving leaves about heh I just wanted him to have a very Dramatic and Symbolic moment xp ]]

Kestrelpaw Where - Cypress Lake | With Morelstream (Sand )
Kestrelpaw spared a brief glance at the slimy, slippery fish at their paws. Disgusted, they recoiled inwardly, the idea of continuing to hunt more fish making the fur along their spine stand on end. Despite their aversion, they knew that some cats enjoyed this particular activity, even if they didn't.
However, the simple question seemed to trigger a momentary conflict within Kestrelpaw. A crisis? No, just a quick decision, that's all. They turned their head away, hiding their face from their mentor. "We are already here. We should fish. We will waste daylight moving more," they declared, choosing the immediate task over potential alternatives.
The apprentice's ear flicked, and their eyes closed briefly. "I have no concerns over my claws growing. Even if they don't, they have proven useful in other ways," Kestrelpaw stated, unsheathing their claws. The unspoken implication hung in the air – these claws had been used on cats before, fought in a war. It didn't matter to them whether the claws grew or not in the long run despite their earlier words. Morelstream had complimented them earlier, hadn't she?
Their eyes quickly opened as they jerked their head back, addressing the unnecessary words that had left Morelstream's mouth. "Of course, I did well, though. That didn't need to be said," Kestrelpaw asserted with their usual unemotional candor. They didn't move to go fishing again though, just standing there. Were they actually...hesitating at the idea of trying to catch the prey again? Just the scent of a single one was so strong between the two cats. The thought of having to carry more back was unpleasant, letting the stench pile up on the shore while they continued. For once, Kestrelpaw was regretting their choice.
ooc: tagging once c: and also I kinda just wanted to give Kestrelpaw some form of emotion even if it's just disgust -- so I'm doubling down on them hating fish.
Fleetflick Where StarlingClan Camp | With Birchtalon (sand)
Fleetflick had spotted the leader in the camp, not expecting them to actually approach. Suppressing the purr forming in his throat, he saw an opportunity. A strong cat, but would they fall for the trick of pushing a rock? A challenge indeed. Fleetflick briefly turned his head skyward, silently addressing the Gods and Goddesses. Is this a trial you're giving me? I will pass it.
The russet tom met the pale yellow eyes of the leader with a glint in his own. Did he seem too excited for this? Perhaps. The black and white feline was unfamiliar to Fleetflick, known only by reputation. Without waiting, Fleetflick started to leave the camp, his tail waving behind him, and didn't bother waiting for the leader to catch up. They would follow – who wouldn't want to join him on a grand adventure?
With a bit of a jump in his step, Fleetflick walked, calling over his shoulder loud enough for any cat interested to join, after all more paws to help would mean less work for him later. "Near The Divided Valley." He emphasized 'near,' not actually there. Should he have framed it as a border patrol? Maybe that would have been a better option. Fleetflick had scented a stray shrew or mouse near the border but nothing more. He decided to divert attention from the actual destination. Instead, he opted to keep the air filled with new conversation, steering the leader away from any suspicions.
"I will say, I didn't think you would join me. I don't believe we ever interacted back in LakeClan," Fleetflick mused, slowing his pace to walk beside the leader. His gaze was everywhere but on them, stopping now and then to appreciate the small wonders around—flowers reaching for sunlight, fallen feathers, nature's wonders.
"Why is that? I do believe you could have been of help on a few trips I made in the territory before." Fleetflick quickly moved back to Birchtalon's side, a purr erupting from him. Ooc: He's my ray of sunshine and this is why I think it would be hilarious to see the two interact though now that I look they have thrill seeking and careless as traits together so that could be..disaster lmao

[ birchtalon & fleetflick will lead to a disaster for sure. sorry that morel's reply is short-- I'll see if I can add to it. ] Morelstream cypress lake — accompanied by: Kestrelpaw she/her - warrior, starlingclan Although Kestrelpaw’s kill had not been the cleanest, Morelstream was still beaming with pride. She had yet to notice the apprentice’s dislike towards fish as she was too busy being prideful. Her amber gaze was set on the lake, watching for any signs of foolish prey. Once Kestrelpaw had answered her question from earlier, she carefully turned to face them. "Great! I’ve got to catch a fish next," she meowed enthusiastically, taking a step towards the lake.
The cream tabby’s ears flicked in the brown tabby’s direction before flipping around. Oh. I remember, she thought to herself, flinching inwardly at the unspoken mention of the war. Morelstream didn’t know too much about Kestrelpaw’s time in the civil war, but surely they had a part in it like most cats did. It was a bit much to think of the war now that it was over. She despised any memories from it, so the warrior tried to block them out as much as possible. Plus, she was fine! Completely healthy and living. ”Of course,” she meowed flatly. The prideful warrior’s ears twitched, feeling the need to roll her eyes. There it was again, her apprentice’s strange unemotional response. "Take a compliment for once, will you? It doesn’t hurt to be praised."
Morelstream turned away, making her way towards the lake once more with a scoff. Her gaze focused on the rippling water which moved ever so slowly in the shallow parts. She sat down on her haunches, waiting patiently for the fish to swim by.

Birchtalon starlingclan territory — accompanied by: Fleetflick they/them - leader, starlingclan Birchtalon wasn’t so sure what the glint in Fleetflick’s gaze was about, but it did puzzle them. Was there something so interesting about hunting that he just couldn’t wait to leave camp? They hurried after him, wondering if they could trust Fleetflick at all. A bit rude to not wait for me, but whatever. Let’s see where Fleetflick is taking me, the white and black cat thought with a light huff.
Hearing the location, their pale yellow eyes grew in surprise. "That is normally where we do border patrols, Fleetflick," they reminded him, unsure if the tom remembered where the border was. After all, it was a contested and confusing area for most cats. They wanted to make sure that would change soon, especially for OliveClan. StarlingClan had formed its territory rightfully and the border was an important part to it.
As Birchtalon followed the russet colored warrior through the woods, their gaze studying the woods as they padded along. Their black ears flicked in acknowledgment as they listened to Fleetflick. "No, I don’t believe we did," they responded, glancing at their patrolmate. They couldn’t think of a single moment where they spent time with Fleetflick in LakeClan. Maybe they had assigned him to a patrol way back then, but it wasn’t memorable enough for Birchtalon.
What were they supposed to say? Sorry, I don’t remember you because you’re average and typical like most cats? Or you're just not important to me at all? the leader pondered, doing their best to not utter their thoughts. Fleetflick’s purr caught them off guard, leaving Birchtalon with a wide eyed look. Is he purring…?
”I’m sure you would have been. I’ll try to remind my deputy to have you join patrols more often,” they mewed to Fleetflick, unsure if they wanted to make eye contact or not. They were uncertain if the warrior was trying to please them or trying to make a strange move. "By the way, do you mind if we check the OliveClan border? I want to make sure that they know where the border lies."

Dawnbreeze | Starlingclan Camp | Open
Dawnbreeze awoke, stretching and exited the den. There was a slight morning breeze, and it ruffled her fur. The sun was over the horizon, but most of the cats were still in camp. Who she was really looking for, was Peachpelt. She was scared that her sister had finally broke and left for Oliveclan. She did think it was brave for her sister to join Birchtalons side, and stay with her. But Dawnbreeze knew that Peachpelt's anxiety had only worsened since the two clans broke apart. But, she hasn't left yet. Honestly, Dawnbreeze fully expected to never see Peachpelt again. But, she thought that every morning, and she was there, every time.
Peachpelt | Hawthorn Woods | Starlingclan Territory | Open
Peachpelt had woken early, again, plagued by the nightmares from the war. Again, she wondered if she should leave, and join Oliveclan. I can't. They would never take me in. I betrayed them. Then, should she run away and become a loner? Would anyone miss her?Probably not. Peachpelt walked deeper into the the woods, enjoying the scents all around her. Her paws sunk into the moss at her feet. Would they kill me, if I asked to leave? Should she ask to leave? What if something awful happened? Or a border scrimish turned into another war? Peachpelt thoughts turned back to her nightmare, where she had been walking in these very woods. Someone had been following her, but she didn't know who. Then, she had felt claws in her back and had woken up. Will they ever end? Will my memories of battle and betrayal ever go away? Will living her feel normal after awhile? Probably not. Peachpelt knew the best thing for her to do was to just stay here, with her sister who didn't trust her, in the clan she felt as though she didn't belong in.
Tansypaw | Oliveclan Camp | With Hollypaw
Tansypaw was sitting outside of his den, staring at the sky. He was wondering if the clouds really took shape into things sometimes, or if they just looked like blobs of fluff all the time. After awhile he noticed Hollypaw had joined him, and he looked at her. How long had she been there? Sometimes Tansypaws thoughts ran away with him, taking him to another place. I wish mother and father were still here. But Tansypaw knew that they weren't, and that the never would be. He hoped that whoever had killed them were dead, long dead and that their bones were rotting under the soil. Focus Tansypaw! Your sister is right there! "Hi Hollypaw. How are you doing this morning?"

Kestrelpaw Where - Cypress Lake | With Morelstream (Sand )
As Kestrelpaw continued to observe the water, patiently waiting for a fish to come into view, their stillness resembled that of a tree, every muscle tensed. However, when a fish did swim by, Kestrelpaw made no sudden movements to snatch it with their claws. The excuses lined up in their mind: too small for the clan, too swift to catch. Distraction, welcome this time, came when Morelstream spoke.
"It's not that being praised will hurt," Kestrelpaw finally responded, appreciating the diversion. They shifted into a more upright position, stretching a leg to alleviate the tension in their muscles. Should they delve into explaining to their mentor why they didn't readily accept compliments? It might momentarily halt the fishing lesson.
"Praise isn't necessary, is all. Why be praised for things that every warrior should know? That should be a given for myself," they continued, casting a brief look at the fish they had caught. Indeed, such skills were expected of apprentices in the clan, and Kestrelpaw felt that such achievements should be considered ordinary. "Do you expect to be praised when you wake up in the morning? Or even a step further, when you are now a warrior, do you expect praise for a single catch?" The feline stepped back from the shore's edge fully now. The she-cat with them seemed to think that compliments should do something for them, maybe push them to try harder? It went unspoken for Kestrelpaw, these were just basics for a warrior, expected and ingrained into their life.

Fleetflick Where StarlingClan Territory| With Birchtalon (sand)
The warrior continued along the familiar path he had traversed earlier that morning, his goal fixed on reaching the spot where he had spotted the rock. When Birchtalon began to question their location, Fleetflick initially considered interjecting but thought better of it. He opted to remain silent, allowing the leader to continue speaking uninterrupted. Arguments were best avoided, as they tended to only result in headaches that lingered far too long.
"More patrols?" Fleetflick's ears flattened against his skull, and his purr nearly choked in his throat at the suggestion. He shook his fur briskly, returning to his casual walking pace. The mere thought of additional patrols made his fur bristle with discomfort. He reminisced about the days in LakeClan when Birchtalon would either overlook him or he would be long gone before patrols were formed. The notion of being forced into more patrols elicited a visceral reaction from him. "I don't believe that's needed. Patrols are running fine without me after all this time." Fleetflick remarked, his tone tinged with a hint of reluctance. While he didn't mind occasionally joining patrols to suit his own needs, the idea of being coerced into more was unsettling. Nevertheless, he acknowledged his duty as a warrior, even if it meant engaging in tasks he disliked. "If you truly want that though, I won't be opposed," Fleetflick added, turning his gaze ahead to focus on their destination.
At the mention of checking the OliveClan border, Fleetflick picked up his step. Not fighting the leader against going to the border seemed to work in his favor. As they moved further from camp, Fleetflick's spirits lifted. "We can most certainly, there was something there I wanted to check out anyways." His voice was light, they were too far from camp now for the leader to turn around on him. The pair of cats could easily check the border out and collect his rock as a reward, a win win situation for both in his eyes. Ooc:

DarkstepOliveClan - Camp - with Spiderwatcher☾ѕησσzє☽ ---Darkstep scoffed, he couldn't help it. "If the Pantheon is watching me, it is only for entertainment." He pressed a paw against the stem of a leaf, pinning it. He hadn't been raised a healer, and a warrior knew that he could never rely on the Pantheon to step in. The only trait they all shared was selfishness, after all.
He let the leaf go, a grumble in his chest, then stood. His bones creaked from sitting on stone. "I need to collect marigold today," he said, turning his head so that Spiderwatcher was centered in his good eye. His stare would convey his point: there were still OliveClan cats injured from the war, grievous wounds that only now, after three moons, were starting to heal. At least by this point, any cat that would have died has done so. Those that lived yet were likely to recover, though not without scars.

Starlingclan Camp
Silverdawn steps out of the nursery to stretch her limbs. She sits down to groom herself and to observe how her clanmates were doing. She has to constantly remind herself that some of her clanmates were now in Oliveclan including her former mate. She tried her best to just forget about him, yet her heart had other ideas. She hoped that once her kits were born, she would be able to spin a tale about their father or claim one of the Starling cat toms were their father.

[ ooc: I have Cootpaw open in StarlingClan. In OliveClan, I've got Cinderhowl, Perchglide & Littlepaw! Littlepaw's starter is on the first page. ] Morelstream cypress lake — accompanied by: Kestrelpaw she/her - warrior Morelstream was surprisingly not impressed by any of the fish that swam past. Some were as small as a juvenile char which would feed an apprentice or a kit. It wasn't good enough for a warrior if the clan were to ever go hungry although it did bring some promise. If the smaller fish were swimming nearby, maybe a larger one would follow them and she could land a big catch.
The cream tabby she-cat kept her gaze fixated on the water, watching ever so closely for another fish. Kestrelpaw's voice barely brought her out of her obsession until they mentioned praise. Her ears twitched towards them to show she was listening. For Nerio's sake, I might as well throw him into the lake with all of the pathetic small fish. Maybe they will swim for their life then, she thought, holding back a scoff. "Praise is necessary. Would you prefer I nitpick at your skills and talk down to you?" she retorted back, tempted to ignore them.
Yet the brown tabby kept going, so she willing listened. She felt as if her head was steaming due to the frustration and anger. Maybe Morelstream was not a decent mentor, but at least she treated her apprentices properly unlike some warriors. She refused to look at them because she wasn't going to waste her time after waiting so long for a fish. She would catch one and show off to Kestrelpaw with the hopes that they would fall for her boast.
"You aren't a warrior yet, Kestrelpaw. The point in being praised is to learn how to take it, to understand it. Is that so hard for you to understand?" she snapped as her temper began to flare. "No, I don't want a cat to praise me for waking up each morning. Sometimes it is nice to be praised for my great catches like I used to experience. It's a sign of respect and support. Do you not like being respected by your mentor or your fellow clanmates?"
Morelstream's amber eyes grew big, noticing a lake trout swimming before her. It was of good size and she knew this had to be her kill, her first one of the day. She plunged her paw into the water as her claws hooked onto the trout. The warrior scooped the fish out of the water, using her other paw to slash its throat gingerly. "Was that a good catch, Kestrelpaw?" she asked in a bitter tone, setting the fish down and away from the shoreline. "Or is praise not necessary for me?"

Birchtalon StarlingClan territory — accompanied by: Fleetflick they/them - leader Birchtalon had slowly grown used to the path that they and Fleetflick were taking towards the Divided Valley. They kept their gaze steady, focused on what was ahead of them. The sound of Fleetflick's voice, though, caused them to turn their head to see a warrior with flattened ears. Is he choking on his words? This tom did take part in the civil war, right? How are patrols so scary? they wondered as thoughts flew through their mind.
If the russet colored tom didn't want to participate in more patrols, then so be it. Birchtalon could continue to overlook their clanmate like they were worthless without being told to do so. It was Fleetflick's choice if he wanted to be an excellent warrior or a lame, lazy one. It wasn't the white and black cat's place to decide for the warrior, but the wheel in their brain was already spinning. Fleetflick's visceral reaction gave them enough to know about the tom. "Oh? Well, that's too bad. If you haven't noticed, we aren't in LakeClan anymore. We have less clan members, so we will need to double up on patrols when necessary," they mewed in a cheeky tone. They waited for Fleetflick to finish speaking before weighing their options. "Hm. You know, I will think it through. You will be at the top of my list though."
Birchtalon wore a bold grin, pleased that the russet warrior was willing to check the OliveClan border. They had plans of their own, ones that they weren't willing to divulge yet. They could easily corral Fleetflick into following them as long as it was under the disguise of a border patrol. It technically was one, to be fair. "Sounds good to me," they mewed, picking up their pace. The quicker they got to the warrior's destination, the better. Their toes were itching to check the OliveClan border and it was all they had their mind set on. "So, what exactly do you want to check out? It's not the scent of a predator, is it?" Birchtalon asked, glancing at Fleetflick for a response.

Kestrelpaw Where - Cypress Lake | With Morelstream (Sand )
They pondered the molly's words with deliberate consideration. Was praise more valuable than critique to them, or were the two concepts mutually exclusive in their perspective? Kestrelpaw flexed their claws momentarily, a subtle sign of contemplation, before turning away, avoiding direct eye contact with their mentor. The hunting session was momentarily put on pause; they needed time to mull over their mentor's words.
"I need to be told when I make mistakes, yes. When a failure occurs, it is your duty as my mentor to rectify it. Praises may be necessary for other apprentices to acknowledge their accomplishments, but I do not require them," they stated firmly. Memories of the war echoed in their mind—no praise, just an intrinsic knowledge of success when a fellow apprentice fell at their paws. Failures were unmistakable, marked by the searing pain that surged through them when claws met fur. Yet, in hunting, the lines were often blurred, the rationale behind a misplay not always apparent to them. In this, Kestrelpaw could concede to Morelstream.
"Respect is not mutually exclusive with praise. I respect many of our fellow clanmates without explicitly praising them," the words flowed out spontaneously. What, in their mind, deserved praise? Something beyond the daily grind of warrior life, perhaps a solitary warrior toppling a formidable foe like a boar—worthy of, at the very least, congratulations, even in a clan where warriors were expected to fight to their last breath. "If those in the clan don't respect me, that is their problem. I am fighting to earn my place here, much like any apprentice."
They awaited a response, but their attention was diverted as they watched Morelstream plunge her paw into the water, emerging with a sleek trout. The brown tabby leaned away, avoiding water droplets, as they observed the precise maneuver. Their expression remained neutral, a thoughtful absorption of the scene to commit the exact actions to memory. Once the trout was lifeless, Kestrelpaw's gaze shifted between the caught fish and their own, noting the significant size difference.
"This catch? It befits a warrior of your skill," they acknowledged with meticulous phrasing, delicately balancing on the edge of praise. Unconsciously, Kestrelpaw began to realize their own choice of words as they lifted their head to find a more appropriate response. Morelstream was different from them, and, for the sake of completing their apprentice training, perhaps they should attempt to appease her and offer some form of acknowledgment.
"You performed admirably. However, seeking my approval, or any warrior's, is unnecessary. We hunt for the clan, not for the validation of others," they concluded, attempting to strike a balance between acknowledging their mentor's efforts and emphasizing the collective purpose of their actions. Kestrelpaw moved a few steps away, letting a few tail lengths occupy the space between them and Morelstream. The pair had only caught two fishes so far, not nearly enough to feed the entire clan but suddenly their desire to continue had been dissipated. No, we have to continue hunting. I can't return with such a measly piece of prey.

Fleetflick Where - Divided Valley | With Birchtalon (sand)
The journey through the territory had been progressing steadily, although Fleetflick's penchant for stopping every few tail lengths to inspect something of interest had noticeably extended the duration of the walk. When the leader mentioned Fleetflick's potential involvement in patrols, the russet tom's mind immediately sprang into action, concocting a plan to evade the additional responsibility. He could simply slip out of camp early in the mornings, ensuring he was long gone before the patrols were organized, and return with a catch to appease any potential concerns. Yes, that would suffice. However, he realized he had fallen silent, jolting himself back to the present moment.
"Oh, how honored I am," his words dripped with sarcasm, belying his true feelings. His mind raced to recall the names of other warriors in StarlingClan. Why hadn't he bothered to learn more beyond the name of the clan and its leader? Flashes of orange and cream filled his mind, two cats older than him. What were their names again? His pace slowed as he wracked his brain, trying to summon the information. Something about mushrooms... and the other had a name related to hearts? Foxdung.
"Mushroo-" he began, but his words faltered as the correct names suddenly surged into his memory. "Morelstream! And the Rowanheart tom," he corrected himself eagerly, a sense of pride swelling within him. "They are older and wiser than I, much better suited to take on the honor of leading patrols. I wouldn't dream of taking that opportunity away from them." Fleetflick found himself unexpectedly pleased that he could recall this much; while these cats had been familiar to him for his entire life, committing their names to memory had never seemed particularly useful until this moment.
As they approached the border, Fleetflick's attention was suddenly captured by the glint of sunlight on a white object past the trees. He dashed ahead, spotting the rock he had identified earlier. With a small push, he tested its stability, noting with satisfaction that it shifted slightly. A fleeting thought crossed his mind that perhaps he should have requested a third warrior to accompany them, to lighten the load of their return to camp. However, he realized he had missed a question directed at him and jerked his head up to meet Birchtalon's gaze.
"Even worse, Birchtalon," Fleetflick spoke dramatically, his tone filled with mock seriousness. With a graceful leap, he landed on the rock, skillfully balancing on its uneven surface. He kept his paws close together and allowed his tail to wave behind him, maintaining equilibrium. The rock, although not spacious enough for a full-fledged warrior to stand comfortably, became his makeshift stage.
"This rock here," he continued, emphasizing the grandiosity of the moment, "has been yearning for a place in a camp for seasons now. It's a lost soul, the perfect comfort for apprentices to rest upon or even a warrior of small stature!" Fleetflick theatrically extended a paw towards the rock, as if introducing it to Birchtalon.
"I've heard tales of rocks finding solace and purpose in the heart of a clan. Just imagine the joy it would bring to our camp! A rock with character, with a story to tell. Plus, think of the countless warriors who would find comfort in its stony embrace during moments of contemplation. It's not just a rock, Birchtalon; it's a potential camp legend!" He purred, awaiting Birchtalon's response.Ooc: changed a few things because i dont think cats can grin and stuff woops
