We can only keep the rules if the moderators only want to. You will have to talk to Tom about enforcing these rules if you really think they're that important. Although the majority often overrules; getting a LOAD of mods // admins who enforce the rules will usually fix the problem
Depending on if you actually think it's important.

Or we can get a huge host thread by the mods and instigate the members to say what they do and don't want in these forums. A collaborative effort.
{EHC never had that}

People may not agree, but I for one, enjoy discussing politics with other people. I think it's an interesting way to get to know somebody :/ It is an interesting way to get to know someone. However, the rules are made to cater the "general" audience. There are portions of the rules that several people may agree/disagree about, but at the end of the day it is the general* population of users the rules are made for. Also- keep in mind that the user age range is a wide one, to the point that some people care/not care/ would rather not talk about it because that is not what these forums are "sorta" intended for. The general giff is, Erin Hunter related topics/lore. Then off topic get to know, and converse on the sidelines with people. That's true. As also said above, there could be a civilized debate topic.

Honestly most of this makes sense! I agree with the edited rules, just that can we have a place where we can suggest things to mods/admins? Just saying.

if lgbt topics are banned, 50% of the people will probaby leave. so, don't take wildlake's discriminatory advice, or you'll screw literally everything up for yourself :^)

I personally favor a mostly faithful interpretation of the rules. One of the things I loved about the WCF was how safe it felt to me. Sure, it could be overly strict. But for the most part, one of the reasons it felt like a refuge to me was how concerned it was with protecting its users.
I'm honestly glad we can use outside images, and I don't think we should change it. The rules should have a warning about copyright if they don't already, and users still need to be careful about what they do and don't use. Also, there needs to be a content rule for images--not just about copyright, but appropriateness. We don't want images that could be potentially questionable to younger users or their parents.
I also think that the no personal information rule should be upheld for the most part. It's safer. And keeping in mind that we have PMs now, you can always swap contact info with someone privately. I feel the same about selfies. It should be kept out of the public sphere.
If people really want to talk about politics, I'm sure that will be fine if it's civil and contained to its own topic(s).
Just my two cents.

I would definitely be mad if LGBT topics were banned, especially how long it took for them to be accepted on the WCF. I'd much rather lose a few homophobics rather than an entire group of people who just want to be accepted and feel comfortable js
