Curious if anyone would like to share their interests or hyperfixations from media that not a lot of people know about. Feel free to infodump and ramble here! I'm going to share a couple of mine just to get conversation going:
Castle Cats- mobile RPG game I'm not big on the mobile gaming craze but Castle Cats is genuinely so fun! The whole premise is that you send cat characters on quests and collect more, but the game constantly updated with new events for the holidays. I've been playing on and off since about 2018 and its crazy how much the game's improved! I just find it disappointing that hardly anyone talks about it because I'm such an avid fan.
Tally Hall- early 2000s indie band
I know they may not be that obscure for some, but I feel Tally Hall is in that unique realm of not entirely being mainstream but enough dedicated fans know about their work that there's a very solid fanbase. Some of the information on Tally Hall is very well known (such as their sister bands like Miracle Musical and Cojum Dip) but sometimes their music pops up through niche crevices that you have to be crazy enough to look for (Like, I just found out today that one of their songs was used in a Crayola commerical? Whaaaat?) The Tally Hall lore runs DEEP, y'all.

OFF.... the nearly nonexistent fandom only grew slightly because at one point it was listed under a tumblr post of things to do WAYYYY back when Homestuck was on its first hiatus, and then everyone promptly forgot about it again. I see no one online ever talk about it though and the few people I've met who know about it aren't really that into it so I start gushing and come off as a weirdo.
I'm also being the same way about FAItH unholy trinity though but that's just been... the past week. Time has yet to tell whether this is a lasting interest and if it gains popularity or not because I have basically consumed every scrap of content i could find be it plays or interviews over a mere 2 days and was running into posts from 2 years ago without even going that far down so uh...
It just seems like both of these horror games are only temporarily on peoples radar as a bizarre experience that they enjoy and move on from. Which is sad because I have many Thoughts and no one to share them with.

Oh hey, I play Castle Cats (and their newer game Dungeon Dogs) too! I’ve played it for I think 2-3 years now, started during the Easter event focusing on Logan.
Any favorite cats/dogs? I guess Conan and Catniss in Castle Cats. Mainly I love all the little references everywhere (especially Dovah, as I’m a big Elder Scrolls fan.) I’m surprised there isn’t a Warriors reference, but I remember one of the devs mentioning in their Discord that she hasn’t read the books and didn’t think she’d enjoy them ‘cause she didn’t want to read about cats getting hurt. (I swear Yule looks a lot like Graystripe, though.) With Dungeon Dogs, I’d say my favorite characters are Lyra, Ken, and Willow.

Uhh, aside from TØP lore which I eat, breathe and sleep… 60’s Sci-Fi. I looove retro Sci-Fi book covers, I love reading all the pulp books and comics, I love hearing retrofuturistic jazz. I love all the golden age Sci-Fi writers. Just wish I could be a kid at that time and go to some expo

I was planning to download Dungeon Dogs a couple months ago but I didn't think my phone had enough data space for it, but I'm looking forward to getting into it one day. My favorite cats right now are Mortimer, Halley, and Selene! I got Mortimer for the Halloween event a year back and I love him so much <3 my sweet alien kitty! The Halloween event is always my favorite! A couple other cats on my wishlist are Silver (since I love werewolves) and Strix (his story in the Call of Heroes event was cool but he costs money last time I checked)

Shiren the Wanderer is the best roguelike franchise I have ever played. I discovered it as a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon fan, but after giving StW a try, I haven’t found a reason to go back. The gameplay is just so intuitive! Here’s to hoping more people discover it with the upcoming Switch title.
As for JRPGs, I really enjoy the Suikoden franchise. Good story, good gameplay, many things to do besides combat… it’s the golden standard of the JRPG.

rpgs, apparently
the dragoneer academy series by e.e. knight. i finished it a month ago and it still lives rent free in my head but i have no one to talk to about it
big band music from the 30s and 40s
military marches from different countries. they're historically and culturally interesting okay
christian historical romance... listen i know it sounds cringe but reading a solid story with fantastic attention to historical detail, strong characterization, and a well-written romance without unnecessary sexualization and gratuitous vulgarity is so refreshing. not all of them are overtly religious, either. it's just a nice, clean romance.

The Weepies are my favorite band and i've never met anybody else irl who's heard of them. Also feel like a number of my favorite books are kinda obscure, particularly Mirrorworld and anything by Hilari Bell.

One of my favorite bands is Junie and the Hut Friends. They have a decent following but I've never run into someone irl or online that knows them. The Consequence of Imagination is Fear is a top tier song.

I don't actually know anybody else who plays the Sonic games despite being well known. Now with the movies, I'm stuck in a fandom with 1/3 actual fans and 2/3 little kids who just saw the movie. Not that new fans are bad but the Sonic series is kinda stuck in a Pokemon situation where more people are familiar with the other forms of media than the original.

My favorite sonic games are sonic heroes, sonic colors, and sonic rush. i've played a couple of others those are just my favs.
idk why i never considered myself a sonic fan though, i really do like the games but its one of those things i never engage with outside of playing it for a while and thenmoving on. i did sometimes draw them though and even some of my own ocs in a sonic style cause the style is easy.
sonic music goes hard tho.

Have you played Sonic Frontiers? Also yeah what you said about moving on seems to be most people's experiences with Sonic. I guess what I'm looking for is someone who's more into it than just playing then moving on.
