Here are cats I'm thinking of just need appearances
Quiet Trees- she cat

History:

Long time ago, a loner named Timber was approached in his dreams by a starry cat. He was told to find a sacred place where the trees never end. He was confused but decided to set on on a quest.  Along the way he ends up picking up other cats who were also told to find this place.  The journey was long the cats walking through open grasslands, swamps and even a mountain. Eventually, they reached the forest that seemed to match what the starry cat had said.   They stop near a massive tree and they are once again met by the starry cat.  The starry cat tells them to make their marks on this tree and that this land is their new home. 

Maybe something in here about they recruit cats and they thrive or show all the hardships they had to endure. Or there was a sort of tribe/group living there but were facing hard times until the group showed up.

Ranks  Rough draft 

Canopy or Crown-  The Canopy is the leader of the tribe. They make the rules and their word is law. 


Understory:  They are the healers of the tribe.  These cats know a lot about herbs and have a deep connection to the tribe ancestors.  They also act as deputies to the leader and should the leader perish one of them will step into the role or they will ask the mother tree to figure out who will become the next leader.  

Note: May be allowed to have mates and kits however must understand that their duties must always come first. 


Branches: Branches are cats who hunt and patrol in the trees. These cats are muscular, lean and have long claws to grip the tree branches.  They act as lookouts and will be the first to see if danger is coming.  This role can be dangerous cause one wrong move can injure a cat or kill them. 

-Some branches like to sleep in trees. Usually just a preference cause they feel safe or some want to feel closer/higher up? 



Roots: Roots are cats who hunt, patrol and fight on the ground. These cats are better suited to being on the ground rather than being in the trees.  Roots make up most of the tribe and they come in different shapes and sizes.  

- Some roots help the understory with herb gathering ect? 


Saplings: These are young cats training to be either branches or roots.  They spend at least one to two moons learning both ranks before being given a proper mentor from whichever rank they are best suited for/want to pursue.  Saplings are encouraged to get a feel for each role. Some start out learning to be branches but switch to Roots and vice versa. 

-They are given some herb training in case they need to help themselves or their clanmates when they are away from camp?

Tribe of the Mother Tree:  These are spirits and ancestors of the tribe.  The mother tree is said to be a giant tree in the middle of a vast forest.  These cats watch over the tribe and send usually cryptic messages mainly to the canopy or the understory.  The tribe of the mother tree is a mystery to most even the understory. They reveal as much information as needed.  Most cats view them with reverence while others try to appease them as to not anger them. 


Tribe of Blackened Trees:  These are evil spirits or those who have committed a sin to the tribe or to the mother tree.  The land here is said to be always changing but it's usually a marshy area and the land is forever dead or charred. 



Random notes: Perhaps there is a secret rank for cats who are good at being both branches and roots. 

Just like irl there are a ton of cats who have been named after different trees. For the sake of the rp I'll try to have it so only tree cats have the same name or we have a little chaos and have like five cats named Oak 


Unsure if they gain their second name after they become a root or branch or if they just have that name at birth or they choose their second name once they become a branch or root.

I would say maybe when they become a sapling they pick their second part of their name and as a kit they get the first part and at the end is Sprout, as a means they are still growin/developing but once they hit sapling age they are considered ready to take on a full name because they will be in training to become a branch or root?

for a secret rank could be called trunk, since it connects to both the roots and the branches of a tree and so it could be what cats that are talented in both areas are called?

i also like that! maybe they often get in scuffles during leaf bare with one another cause some of the newer generations of both sides dont respect the agreement of where one can hunt and cant?

Thinking of to further add to it maybe the cat the healer chooses is jsut "coincidentally" the healers kid who they have been grooming for this vary thing so the cat is very much under the healers influence and does whatever the healer tells them too?
