warriorcats.com/content/article/official-warrior-cats-animation-announced"We are delighted to announce that Coolabi Productions has confirmed a deal with Tencent Video to create official animation for Warrior Cats. In collaboration with Coolabi, Tencent Video will work with the original characters and storylines to create animated adaptations for audiences across the globe. This will be the first authorised official animation of Warrior Cats, which we know the fans have been requesting for many years!" What are we thinking, chat? I'm personally not hopeful. It's just a reminder of 2016 again - we got the announcement, we were excited, we got more news two years later, and then after that... nada. It seems to be another Chinese company, like Alibaba Pictures. But who knows?

Better late than never, I suppose.
I'm still pretty excited to see how this turns out though!

Interesting, but it's pretty vague as to what they'll actually be making. Multi-episode series adaptations of the arcs? Stand-alones of specific popular scenes? Just ITW?
I'm sure they're still working out the details of what exactly they will produce, but I'd imagine they at least have some idea and that it would be part of the contract. I can just imagine the fandom getting really excited, expecting a SSS-style adaptation of the whole first arc, only for it to be a handful of couple-minute AMV style productions without voice acting.

Coolabi Productions, hmm...I don't know how I feel about that? They own the books I mixed it up with Tencent, my bad (just woke up). But yeah, I don't know how I feel about Tencent. From what I've seen, they're only a streaming service right? And this is like the third time (?) they announced they'd be animating the series in general? Has there been any actual progress...? At all? Or am I missing something?

While Tencent does do streaming in the form of Tencent Video, the films they've been associated with aren't necessarily exclusive to it. That said, I definitely understand the hesitation. We know absolutely nothing about the production, and though animation can take a very long time to make, it doesn't make the near complete silence any less concerning. Even something like yearly updates would be nice, rather than these large gaps. The fact that Tencent is based in China might also have something to do with it, for one reason or another.

I'm cautiously hopeful. I looked up "Tencent Video Warrior Cats" in Chinese and can't seem to find anything. And I know that China is up to date with most of the books up to Broken Code, but given the earlier "news" with AliBaBa a long time ago, I don't know what to feel.

I'm pretty optimistic about this in so far as it's not unusual for stuff like this to get stuck in development Hell for a while sometimes and then suddenly, all at once, the gears start moving.
Anyway, me personally I'm thinking an animated adaptation of whole arcs is unlikely, and an original story might be more along the lines of what we'll get.

If they make a series I wouldn’t know if they’d make it Tv 14 or TV MA.

If they make a series I wouldn’t know if they’d make it Tv 14 or TV MA. Neither. This series is marketed to 9 year olds and they would probably only make a product that could be consumed by the whole fanbase (and certainly the under 14 demographic which accounts for a large chunk). They’d probably just tone down the blood and violence.

If it happens, I won’t be happy, but I’d understand why they did it.

Really hope this isn't anything like the Wings of Fire show. In 2020 (I think), we got the announcement that there was going to be a WOF show. Fans were super excited, and then a year later in 2021, the show got cancelled and now there are petitions everywhere to restart that show. And even last year in March we got leaks of what could've been of that show. Sorry I'm getting off topic. But same as what you said, I'm not hopeful. It will most likely be just like the WOF show, and I bet it's going to be boring. Might just be an entire recap of the first arc. If it does actually release and it's what I predicted, I most likely won't be watching the show as we've already known what happened in the first arc for the past 21 years.

They’d probably just tone down the blood and violence. It would ruin a lot of the series if they toned down the violence. Imagine Tigerstars death if it was toned down. If it happens, I won’t be happy, but I’d understand why they did it. The Rise of Scourge manga already toned down Tigerstar's death and no one cared. I don't see why they couldn't do the same here. They'd probably handle violence similarly to the Redwall animated series, with deaths being rescripted and/or reframed so as to keep the violence off-screen. Though that series was funnily enough able to get away with decapitating Asmodeus; I guess that snake gore matter less than mammal gore.

Like a few others have said, I'm cautious but hopeful. I'm hoping that since they announced it, that means some or most of it is done or in production. I'd like to see a movie to start us off, then go into a tv series. Maybe have like Firestar become leader in the movie, then start the series with Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw's POV. I really think the travelling scenes from Squirrelpaw's POV would do great for a series imo. Idk, like I said I'm cautious because I know they've announced something similar before and it fell through. But I'm going to stay hopeful!

May happen, but I'll keep my hopes low.
The same thing was announced 2022 for the movie to be released in late 2023, however there's been no announcements since. Now, there's this. Hopefully we'll get it (no matter how much I would have preferred it if it was a live-action) on its due date.
