I've said it once, I'll say it again. We need to stop giving all the Firekin very important roles. Exhibit A: Firestar is leader. Exhibit B: Squirrelstar is leader. Exhibit C: Lionblaze is acting deputy. Exhibit D: Ivypool is deputy (although I think this was a wise choice she'll be a good leader). Exhibit E: Leafpool, Jayfeather AND Alderheart have been the three most recent medicine cats. ERIN'S STOP WITH GIVING ALL OF FIREKIN THE MOST IMPORTANT ROLES GIVE THEM TO OTHER CATS WHO ARE NOT RELATED TO FIRESTAR (although at this point basically everybody is related to everybody in some way).

Disagree or neutral. Should be specifically on what makes sense for the acting leader/medicine cat to choose. These cats all chose who they did because of their closeness, and these are their familial ties. It makes perfect sense they wouldn't chose just anyone. Additionally, all these characters are [by warriors standards] fairly developed, whereas [from what i recall of past books] most background characters in general dont get much development [take with grain of salt i havent read a warriors book in full in year lol, im just replying for kicks]
I can agree that maybe cats in the clans should take annoyance as to it seeming to become a family hierarchy, granted i havent read the newer books so I dont know if they have

Kinda disagree. There’s an argument to be made for lineage of good stock continually producing well-formed people (basically the argument for aristocracy).
I think giving a character a position of power just because they are related to Firestar is dumb. However, that’s not really what happens - it’s former protagonists or formerly prominent side characters, which…. It’s pretty natural to give important roles in-story to characters the readers already know and are familiar with. Those characters often happen to be Firekin.
I think excluding a character from being a potential pick just because they are related to Firestar is dumb.
Also…. Almost everyone is related to everyone now. How many modern cats are kin of Whitestorm? Dustpelt? Frostfur? With two daughters and a nephew who reproduced, it’s pretty hard to find someone who ISN’T related to Firestar in some way now four generations later.

I don't mind at all. I'd like expansion on other families, but you still get firekin characters that don't really talk about their relation to Firestar. Bristlefrost and Shadowsight are both firekin and that was never mentioned.
Pretty much most characters are firekin and it's unavoidable atp

Disagree.
I understand and do agree that other characters not directly related to Firestar should get their time to shine as well but almost everyone is related to him in ThunderClan at this point (even ShadowClan has some of his relatives now thanks to Dovewing who is his nephew's granddaughter). In ThunderClan, most of the cats are either related to Firestar or Frostfur or both. Except for the ones who are originally outsiders like he was. Which is why I'm still hoping that Stormcloud gets character development, an apprentice and the deputy position under Ivypool once she's leader (though maybe as her second one after Lionblaze so he has better chances at actually succeeding her).

It wouldn’t hurt to have them, but it doesn’t matter. As long as the quality of the book is fine, I don’t really care. (Sadly, that’s why I’m leaning closer to the no firekin side than not.

Agree, unless there is a plotline about hierarchical family structures in the clan. Originally, at the beginning of ASC, I kind of thought that was the direction it was going in. I really wanted the background characters to band together to overthrow the continuous firekin family line. Think it could be interesting, but knowing Warriors I doubt it will happen.

I disagree. If we stop giving Firekin important rules, we can basically rule out the entire Clan for important roles. There are definitely a number of non-Firekin characters who could get important positions, but those charactes are underdeveloped and would be boring as leaders, especially ThunderClan leaders. But that's just from a writing perspective. I agree that if you look at the situation from a story perspective, Thornclaw and co are right.

I never cared much that Firestar's kin have important roles.

Honestly? Very SLIGHT agree. I think it would have been cool for a more background cat like Poppyfrost, Stormcloud, or Lilyheart become deputy, even though I do like the idea of Ivypool being deputy. I think a background cat becoming deputy/leader/a member of power in Thunderclan would be a great way to develop their character and do some cool stuff with them. For example, I really got interested in Cloverfoot when she became Shadowclan's deputy because they picked a background cat rather than a cat like Tawnypelt. IDK, am I making any sense or is this all word-salad?

I voted agree, probably because I never really minded that, and also because I really want a Tawnypelt POV. But yeah, if I was given the opportunity, I would say make it stop. It's also that pretty much every ThunderClan cat has Firestar's blood, which is really weird.

I would agree, but pretty much everyone in ThunderClan is related to Firestar at this point.
