I'm getting Riverstar's Home very soon and was wondering if it was a good or a bad SE out of curiosity

It's all right. Not particularly mind-blowing, but far from the worst. It has its funny moments, too.

I really liked it. Riverstar is a pretty neat dude. His character is consistent throughout the SE in relation to the DOTC arc. I will say that a decent amount of the book is a rehash of DOTC from Riverstar's POV (obviously) but it's still very intriguing. I'd definitely recommend it!

As the others have said, it's not incredible. But if you like Riverstar, then you are going to love this book.
Imo calling the first half a DOTC recap isn't really fair. It's not a one-on-one recreation of the arc, but rather the major events as seen through Riverstar's POV. We see how these events affected him and watch his evolution as a character. It's necessary in order to understand Riverstar's perspective in the later chapters.

It's not a great book, but it's not bad either. Riverstar's POV is fun to read about though.

There have been worse super editions. Riverstar's Home was readable.

It's the only book in the series I dropped midway and chose not to bother completing. It just couldn't hold my attention or convince me it was worth any more of my time.

It's the only book in the series I dropped midway and chose not to bother completing. It just couldn't hold my attention or convince me it was worth any more of my time. Same thing happened to me when I was reading Tallstar's Revenge. I think that's because I lost the book and then couldn't find it for a week and at that point I was already reading another book

I loved it! Such a good read. Gives insight in early RiverClan, which was brushed over a lot.
