Kits and Kin of the Sun
In the beginning....
There were two cats - a tom with golden fur that gleamed as if the sun itself had settled its paws upon the ground, and a silvery white she-cat who's pelt gleamed like the river's waters at night. The tom's name was Copper and his sister was named Piano. They had been domestic cats, kept by the same creatures who kept cattle to eat and who claw the ground to make plants grow. These two were the founders, our ancestors, and the cats who found the Sun Cave and gathered together the others who would help them strive.... and to survive the harsh climate of this dry, sandy land.

Please understand that your cat is not perfect, even one who is considered special or a part of a prophecy. Cats will miss prey, they will get hurt, fall, and sometimes die. Do not under any circumstance God-mod. Please be aware that this RP does not allow substantial Spotlighting, Mary Sues, unrealistic cats ( with the exception of certain eye colors/pelt colors and patterns that may be less common/less well known or fan accepted like "heather blue" ), forced-mating, graphic writing of ANY kind, or. No cats in Solarclan have powers; any alluded to "powers" are merely legends and clan myth.
Mortal tenants...These are RP specific rules:
- These cats are nocturnal due to the nature of the land they live in. It is safer, colder, and easier to hunt at night. They have excellent night vision and are stealth hunters. Most (but not all) cats in Solarclan have short fur.
- The leader will chose an active RPers Warrior to become Deputy should the old one die.
- When an apprentice becomes a warrior it is the responsibility of both RPers (apprentice and leader) to come up with the full name for the cat and bring it up to the Discussion Page.
- It is up to the medicine cat who their apprentice will be and what their full name will end up being; it is as well their choice to choose when their apprentice is ready to graduate and earn their name- this must also be brought up on the discussion page.
- If you would like to volunteer a cat for a prophecy or have an idea for one; bring it up to the Discussion page.
- All battles, fights, significant patrols, or important events must run through the Discussion page and be accepted BEFORE they are RPed, just so that RPers are not left floundering on what to do. We want you to be comfortable in where the plot is going!
- If you have any questions do not be afraid to ask Rookbriar - their PMs are always open to questions about Solarclan or you can mention them directly on a reply on the Discussion page. The code word is Luna.
- Kits born to a medicine cat and forbidden romance are allowed - but must be discussed. Understand that there will be consequences for the actions IC, including but not limited to a cats exile or their title being taken.

The OasisThe Oasis is home to two major locations:
- Solarclan Camp
A thick patch of trees, bushes, and rock piles near one of the smaller lakes away from the twoleg path.
- The Stump: Doubles as the leaders den as well as the location they call for meetings from. It is a large and old stump that as been around since the founding of Solarclan. It has claw marks for every past leader, including Copperstar.
- The Medicine Den: Under a pile of rocks near The Stump lay the cool and humid Medicine Pool, the source of cold water for injured and sick cats in Greenleaf and a source of warmer water in Leafbare. The Medicine Cat has many moss nests in here, as well as a their herbs, cobwebs, and the camps store of moss during the colder seasons.
- Elder's Crag: To the side of the medicine den and through a small path in the rocks lay the Elders' Den. It is a well shaded area close to the Medicine cat; allowing for close watch of the elderly and disabled clan cats.
- The Nursery: A well fortified den in the bushes near the other side of The Stump. With solid and dry thorns weaved into the outside and softer leafed bush on the inside, it is the ideal place to keep the kits inside safe from themselves but also any predator, cat, or animal that may think they are easy prey - if the queens don't get to them first.
- The Warriors' Den: A den on the other side of Elder's Crag, closer to the camp entrance while still leaving enough room between it and the rockpile for the Freshkill Pile. It is another bush den, though significantly less armored than the other dens of the camp.
- The Apprentices' Den: Located under a log that spans from the entrance of the camp, over it and the Nursery, and to The Stump. It's back shares the only soft part of the outside of the Nursery walls and is just as armored on its sides.
- Rat Trail Lake
The first and largest of a few little lakes in the Oasis, named for their shapes seeming to be as if carved out by a family of giant rats. The smallest of these lakes is the Camp's lake, a shallow pond used for keeping cool in Greenleaf.
The SouthThe land to the south of the Sun Cave and the direction Dawn Runner runs.
- The Frozen Tree
A fossilized tree that did not naturally grow in the area. It looks like it was placed here long ago, wedged between two large boulders.
- Piano's Tears
A pair of islands in the wider southern part of Dawn Runner. They are said to have appeared after their namesake's death and are a hotbed for some water-loving herbs.
- Moon Island
A large alluvial island in the river's Delta as it expands towards the western Large Waters. It is large and steady with a large clearing in the center and a large, climbable boulder that glows in the moonlight.
- The Untamed Lands
A dense and green forest to the south of Solar clan territory that is the territory of a large wolf pack. The wolves rarely go past Dawn Runner's delta.
- Twoleg Lands && Camps
The areas of permanent twoleg dens and their temporary Greenleaf dens that settle closer to the Oasis. This is part of why the cats of Solarclan are nocturnal.
The Barren Lands The Western part of the territory that runs on the west side of Dawn Runner from Moon Island to the Large Waters and the Thunder Cliffs, to the Mountains and Cooper's Peak. It is a large expanse of open and rocky barren land. - Thunderwood Forest
A forest to the west between the Barren Lands and the Thunder Cliffs that is well known for its thunderstorms. It is a very sparse forest that is good for hunting squirrels.
- Thunder Cliffs
The cliffs between the Thunderwood Forest and the Large Waters. It has a large overlook and a steep drop to the water and beach below. There is a way to the beach from the river's Delta but it can be unstable and cats who can't swim can be caught off guard and swept out to sea by accident. - Copper's Peak
The mountain Peak on which Copperstar had first spied the territory that would become Solarclan's. It was where Dawn Runner was first seen as a glowing line of fire.
The Sun Tunnels The Sun Tunnels are separated into two locations: The Sun Cave The mouth of the Sun Cave is like a rabbits burrow in the hill-land below the mountains, near where Dawn Runner, the dividing river of Solarclan territory, runs down from them. It is here that the blind journey to the Sun Cavern starts. Leaders and Medicine Cats alike memorize the twists and turns of the tunnels to get to the Cavern. There is a distinctive sound of rushing water at all times. If you feel your paws have gotten wet, you are going the right way. The Sun Cavern The location of the hole in the cave that lets in the light of the Sun to shine down upon the cats that visit and the Sun Spring inside. It is the only lit location in the Sun Tunnels outside of the Cave's entrance and a location of great importance. It is said that this was the last resting place of Copperstar's sister Piano, Solarclan's first Medicine Cat and first Queen.

THE LEADER
Prairiestar ( 60 moons old )

A warrior of large structure and impressive muscling, Prairiestar made something of a name for herself as a warrior in paw-to-paw combat as a younger warrior, before climbing through the ranks to eventual settle herself as clan leader. A silky dark brown coat is marked with sandier and creamier brown patches of striping, and each leg is marked with black socks. Prairiestar has dark, oak-brown eyes, and a scar from her younger days has left the left side of her face somewhat deformed, pulling her features into a semi-permanent frown that makes her look harsher than she is.
This is a she-cat who is fiercely protective of her clan, whether you are the newest kitten, the most revered warrior, or the frailest elder, she will protect you all the same. Her problem lies in the fact she will rarely admit she needs help, or let anyone protect her, even when she needs it. Even as leader she views herself as no more valuable than any other cat. Since having kits of her own, fairly early on into her leadership of Solarclan, she is mildly concerned the rest of her clan will view her as showing favorites over her little ones, so if anything proves to be more strict with her children than she is with everyone else, holds them to a higher standard and rarely shows them affection in public. But in private her kits know they can look to her for help and love when they need it - she was a young mother, but a good one. A fair she-cat, she is a good listener and a firm but kind demeanor for the most part, but she is very much the mama bear stereotype. It doesn’t just go for her own kits but just about every young cat in the clan. And she has a good amount of fury in her if someone hurts a loved one of hers - she may be noble, but her claws are sharp and diplomacy has not dulled her fighting talents.

THE DEPUTY THE MEDICINE CAT Birchmask ( 56 moons )
A small black tuxedo tom-cat with white down from his chin to his belly, over his eyes, and at the tip of his tail as well. His front two paws are white as well, though the left one is larger than the others. He is very slender and his tail is long and thin. Birchmask's eyes are a sage-colored hazel and almond and angular like the rest of him.
Birchmask is a sly cat for a Medicine Cat, known for his wit and sharp tongue around the rest of the clan. He is one of the cats that can trace back his kin to Piano, one of Solarclan's founder's, and is the son of the clans late leader before the current one, Spiderstar. Much like his mother, Birchmask holds great regard for their sunkissed ancestors - though he will often go hunting even while on herb patrols, usually to gather prey for the elders and his wards himself, rather than relying on the warriors.

WARRIORS Stormeye ( 56 moons )
A black tabby she-cat who's stripes are nearly invisible unless she is under direct sunlight. She has longer fur than her siblings but is still small and lithe like Birchmask. Her long claws are thin and light colored like her silver-blue eyes. Her ears have little tufts to them, though they are thin and subtle. She has a large claw-mark scar on her right flank.
Stormeye is certainly Birchmask's more levelheaded counterpart. Where her brother is known for his wit, she is known for her temper, though it is seldom seen in public unless she is furious - though many cats claim to hear her yowling late into the dawn. She is very protective of her kin and clan, often volunteering to take patrols though the Oasis and loves to race next to the Dawn Runner for exercise.

Raptorshade ( 56 moons )
A tall, sure-footed Tom, Raptorshade was a kit that seemed to grow ever upward but rarely outward, leaving him a long-legged, narrow built creature with a rather severe look about him. He is marked with a pale grey coat, mottled with fading grey tabby markings and a splotch of cream white at the chest, and black socks to each rear paw. His eyes are a very rich shade of amber that seem to pierce the very soul when he deigns to look at another - which, mercifully, isn’t very often.
Too much emphasis was put into growing during his younger years that he didn't remember to grow other things, most notably patience. Marked with a razor-sharp tongue who's lash can leave wounds just as fierce as his claws can, the mother who named him for the raptors possibly did the birds something of a disservice. This isn't a tom of clanblood, rather was found abandoned as little more than a moon old kit, and the rogue-blood in his veins is rather apparent. He remains in service to SolarClan from obligation, not from sentimental value for the most part. Without the Clan, the tom would not be alive.

Mallowspring ( 49 moons )
Mallowspring is a strong-limbed dilute tabico she-cat. Her pelt is made up of pale grey, ginger, and dark grey patches. They interlap across her short fur while dark grey tabby stripes lay across her figure. These tabby stripes grow paler as they reach her face and limbs. She has bright amber eyes.
Mallowspring is known for her loyalty which she displays quite often among her clanmates. She is usually quite focused whenever it comes to her duties or relationships. Mallowspring is a very calm cat which can be sometimes unsettling. She doesn't overreact to most situation unless it deals with how protective she feels over the cats who surround her. Her overprotectiveness is just a glimpse at how compulsive she can be. Although Mallowspring means it out of good will, it's difficult to understand and see it that way. Still, her compulsiveness results from a deep urge to continuously be doing something repeatedly. Such as a strong desire to protect her clanmates, family, and friends, one should know that Mallowspring cannot overcome it.

Shrikescar ( 33 moons )
Shrikescar is a large, muscular short-haired tom. He has dark grey fur with black mackerel tabby markings. He has a white chin. His left eye is yellow. He's missing his right eye as he wasn't born with one. A thin, healed scar covers it.
Shrikescar is a charismatic and keen tom. He seems quite likeable as long as he gets along with another cat. Otherwise, he comes off as aggressive and quite territorial. He has a temper and isn't afraid to threaten cats who pose as a threat to him. Even if it's a clanmate, he will be brash with them. He is shameless and doesn't mind admitting his faults as long as they're in his favor. Shrikescar believes that whatever he chooses, it means he is in the right. Shrikescar sees himself as the cat who is in the right, even if his choices or decisions are risky, incorrect, or borderline immoral.

Reedpaw ( 10 moons )
A handsome brown tom, he has darker brown markings that make faint tabby like markings on his fur. He has flecks of white on his pelt, with a single white paw and on one paw he has white toes. He has bright leaf green eyes. One of his ears has a nick in his left ear from a training exercise he had done.
A very loving and affectionate cat, Reedpaw loves to be there for others be it family to his friends to even clanmates he doesn't know well if he sees someone having a rough day. He is sadly loyal to a fault and will often stick to a cat's defense that he cares about even when they are in the wrong. He often is rather naive which often can get him into trouble.

A creamy brown she cat with black striping on her fur. She has a darker cream colored underbelly. Her eyes are a light brown with a darker ring of brown around the pupil of her eyes. Her tail has a slight bend in it.
An energetic she cat, she often always needs to be moving be it training to hunting to just a patrol. She always wants to be doing something to help her clan in whatever way possible. She is determined to make her mark on the clan and make herself standout, not wanting the label of being a leader's kid to be tied to her. As a result she often never refers to Prairestar as her mother, determined to separate herself from her. While she does love her mother, she hates when achievements she makes are tied back to her mother.

Eclipsepaw ( 10 moons )
Unlike his littermates, Eclipsepaw is a pure black tom, with even his nose being black, with dark brown eyes. His fur does have hidden tabby markings on it, though they are only visible under the right amount of light. His whiskers are twisted and often can get tangled as a result. His fur often always seems to be messy no matter how often he tries to fix it.
Eclipsepaw has always been odd, compared to the way his littermates are, preferring to play on his own or just not play at all. He would often rather spend his time listening to stories from warriors and elders about clan history. He is a closed book, keeping things to himself when things are bothering him, and as a result is incredibly slow at opening open. He often is a quick to act cat, and doesn’t seem to really stop to think when in heat of the moment. Eclipsepaw doesn't take criticism well and often will start to doubt his abilities as a result of any critiques he is given, constantly feeling like he will always be in the shadow of his mother.

Bramblingpaw ( 8 moons )
Bramblingpaw is a medium-sized, semi-long haired feline with a silky pelt and a broad face. They are a cinnamon silver tabby point cat. It's hard to tell the color of Bramblingpaw's pelt with one glance. Their face, ears, paws, and thick tail are cinnamon colored. However at the edges of their face, there's a faint silver blur which is hard to see. Their pelt base is white. They have dark blue eyes.
Bramblingpaw is an eccentric cat, known for their whimsical and peculiar behavior since they were a kit. They are not the type of cat to conform to societal norms as they find it odd that their clanmates follow it so easily. Sometimes this leaves Brambling to be an outlier as their behavior is unusual. They are also very optimistic as they tend to see their world with a positive outcome. Their optimism shows them to be a ray of sunshine as nothing is ever too dull about this feline. Bramblingpaw is dependable, like a trusty friend that any cat would want on their side. They are willing to work hard as long as there's a positive outcome to it.

Kitepaw ( 7 moons )
A small light ginger tabby tom with long legs and a thin, slender build. He has bright green eyes with speckles of yellow in them that are round and curious.
Kitepaw is the more hyperactive sibling between him and Leafpaw, often bounding around and rushing about. He admires any cat stronger than him and often subtly bullies his sister by constantly comparing their catches, their speed, and their fighting skill. But he does care about his kin, and will often claim that he is the only person who can say mean things because she knows he doesn't mean it. Many cats in the clan hope he will grow out of this though.

Leafpaw ( 7 moons )
A small sandy-ginger she-cat with large bright yellow eyes. Small and quick, she can fit into almost any space though she is very quickly getting bigger. Aside from her eyes, she also has a white flare on her nose that reaches up to her forehead.
Leafpaw is a quiet cat, often being forgotten or at least not being seen when she comes up to some cats. Often she finds herself at the end of "How did you get there?"s and "How long have you been there?"s. She doesn't hate her brother for his antics, but she is much more mature than him in terms of competition. Leafpaw is much more interested in honing her hunting, tracking, and fighting skills than constantly trying to beat Kitepaw.

A thin and scraggly little white tom-cat who is certainly showing his age. He has pale lemon-yellow eyes that always seem to be squeezed into little slits no matter the time of day. His tail is kinked and he wears and worn collar from around his neck.
No-claws is one of the oldest cats in the clan, and the uncle of the late leader Spiderstar. Having once been known by the warrior name Whitefoot, No-claws was abducted by Twolegs one Greenleaf when he was hunting too near to the Twoleg Camps to the south of the Oasis. There, he was brought to the Cutter and the Twolegs had removed his claws. It was the loner Nutmeg who brought No-claws back to the clan two moons ago.

STARCLAN/DARK FOREST Crowecho ( 43 moons at death )
A large and powerful long-furred black tom with a white flare on his nose between his eyes and a white tail tip. Crowecho had large paws and large white claws that he couldn't retract very well. His eyes were very thin and hooded - a more yellow-shifted hazel from Birchmask's eyes.
Crowecho was like a silent and stoic gentle giant in the clan. He was very calm, though unafraid of confrontation when the need arose. He took after his father, according to his mother Spiderstar, a cat who he nor his siblings ever got to meet, as he was a kittypet from the Twoleg Lands. He worked tirelessly as an apprentice to prove himself as a loyal clan cat because of this. He died trying to run from a large lone wolf who had ventured down into the Barren Lands from the mountains near Copper's Peak.

A small and lithe cream and ginger tabby cat with a white belly and muzzle, white paws, and white tail tip. They are thin, dainty, but quick to move. His tail is long and thin and his eyes are a bright green.
Nutmeg is a helpful cat, wanting to do her best to help any cat she can - even the not very friendly cats of Solarclan. Though, after rescuing and returning No-claws from his "people", they are on much more favorable graces with the clan. He tends to stick to around the Twoleg Camps, or closer East to the Twoleg Lands, but is very respectful about not hunting on Clan territory directly.

Reedpaw-Camp-Open
Reedpaw slipped out trhough the entrance that lead to the apprentice den, the young tom, giving a glance around to see who else was currently awake in the camp, hsi gaze flicking to the fresh kill pile, wouldn't hurt to get some duties out of the way. He headed over picking off a piece to bring to No-Claws, wanting something easy for the older cat to have that wouldn't require needing to use claws, settling on bring the tom a mouse. Heading for the elder's den of the camp, he carefully placed his paws in the fading light of the sun, not wanting to risk tripping and ruining the piece of prey. Pausing briefly he poked his head into the den slightly as he listened to see if the elderly tom was even awake yet, not wanting to go bruging in and putting the potentially sleeping cat into a sour mood for the night.
