What is the general opinion in the community on these subjects? Cat OCs that are lesbian/gay/bi/other sexualities, trans, or unnatural colors? I was in the Warriors community for years and a long time ago many of those things were disliked or were immediately ridiculed. I’m just curious if this has changed, as my oc is lesbian, trans, and has an unnatural color pallet.

It's rare to see any form of hate to the LGBTQ+ ocs/headcannons nowadays. And tbh, I haven't seen any hate whatsoever with how accepted it's become

It was so common when I was younger! There's a lot more accepted headcannons of characters being trans like Rowanclaw because he was listed as female and then changed genders (mostly due to continuity errors). Ravenpaw/Barley and Tallstar/Jake are very accepted as being gay couples even though it can't be confirmed.

A lot of forum members on here are members of the LGBTQIA+ community themselves (myself included) and have a lot of ships and headcanons with those themes as well as OCs and AUs to share <3 So this is most certainly a safe space on here these days :-)
I was not part of the forums until 2020 though, so I can't comment on any situations from before that. Although I have seen a handful of homophobic people around the forums, they usually don't stick around for long as far as I've noticed and aren't welcome either.

the online warriors forum is kinda famously gay. i often feel like the odd one out as a straight cis person.
i dont remember “unnatural pelt colors” ever being a source of noticeable discourse? i’ve been on the forums since 2011 for context. i suspect a lot of RPs would frown upon it but nobody really cares if you’re not joining their RP with it.

^^
It's been pretty lgbt positive since like... maybe 2014? Before that, I don't think anyone cared about OC, but people were pretty strict about canon. Then again, it was ANYTHING that wasn't strictly canon that people would dogpile you for back in those days. Like I remember people getting roasted and stuff for claiming cats had different fur lengths or breeds that weren't confirmed canon.
As for weird colors, there was always a thriving community of people with neons/sparklecats, especially in the artistic side of the community. Pretty sure there wasn't anyone there that would hate on a well-designed neon. Roleplay, esp on the forums, was always stricter, mostly because people wanted realism. There were little nooks for fantasy/sparklecats tho: kitstealing was the main one, and one I loved because of it.
I think a lot of people associated sparklecat OC's with younger members and the ROFL XD WAFFLES kind of spammers/trolls, and so many people thought they were "cringe" because of that.
but yeah it hasn't been like that, at least in the spheres of the community I participate in, since like? 2016? maybe 2017 before it was fully normalized? idk if it's still cringe don't let me know. I love my sparklecat OC's

On a somewhat similar note, is there still any hate towards the "forbidden" names? (Moon, Sun, Spirit, etc.) I remember that people would really make a stink if you decided to call a OC somthing like "Moonfur" because of the author statements. (Despite the fact that them being considered forbidden to use is never stated in canon and that cats like Ambermoon, Sunbeam and Harveymoon exist.)

I don't have any problem with it, Sun is one of my favorite prefixes. I'm not sure how other people feel nowadays.

I personally don't have a problem with it, a lot of my OCs have special names (because they are my special kitties). Whispermoon and Echosun my beloved (they are characters from my Cursed Sisters AU) <3 Also, besides the canon examples you already named, there's Moonflower as well. The only name I get people being more careful with is spirit as a suffix (and maybe prefix) since Brightspirit was based on a Warriors fan who lost her young life.

The only name I get people being more careful with is spirit as a suffix (and maybe prefix) since Brightspirit was based on a Warriors fan who lost her young life. I didn't mention Moonflower specifically because she wasn't meant to be called that at first before the Erin's stuck with it. (Which is where the whole statement of the moon being sacred came from, though they later went back on that and said ) I agree, I always thought some people went too far about it. I remember seeing someone on Amino go on a rant why you shouldn't use moon because of the reason I mentioned before and that one of the Erin's (I think it was Vicky) didn't want Ambermoon to have the suffix moon. (Which is strange because Harveymoon existed before that?) I understand people not using certain names or using traditional naming, but to force it onto others is just wrong. I do agree about Brightspirit through, and her parents by extension since they were all given unique names and based of the girl's parents who tragically passed away as well. One thing I should note though is that on the poll Rootspring's warrior name, one of the names was Rootspirit, and some people thought that was offensive. When someone on Blogclan told Kate about this, she said (taken directly from her comment): "I’m glad the name has helped fans remember Emmy. That’s why we named a cat after her in the first place. If using the name “spirit” keeps our memory of her alive a little longer, surely that’s a good thing?" (I personally don't use it regardless.)

Honestly, I think the only time there was ever discourse over gay topics was when some people were asking for "straight pride" flags, years ago, but the admins took care of them appropriately and with grace, pftt.
