Is Firestar overrated? I personally think so but he's the OG so it kinda makes sense and then again it doesn't. I'd love to hear what you think!

I like him, but yeah, I think he is. Liked his character in TPB but then the Erin's sort of ruined him, making him and his family always the spotlight and never giving it to any other cat. And he'd always find a way to have a part in any prophecy that happened while he was alive

And he'd always find a way to have a part in any prophecy that happened while he was alive I'm not sure how that would be ruining him, tbh, given his character has stayed pretty consistent for the most part. Alot of stories also tend to follow a single bloodline, it honestly doesn't surprise me that the series is still doing it, though I do agree it would be nice if another family was focused on instead (not counting DotC, obviously). I'm confused what you mean by that last one though, because he really didn't? It was really only the fire prophecy and I guess him being deputy in the first arc, and again with the Fourth cat prophecy near the end of OotS. Unless you mean things like trying to interfere with the fire and tiger omen.

The guy saved literally everyone multiple times, he has a genuinely good character arc, especially in the first series, and he has enough flaws to seem like a real character. In my opinion, he doesn't get nearly enough love in the fandom. People tend to brush over him because he's Firestar.

I think Firestar is a good character. He was always my favorite, and rereading the books makes me appreciate his character and growth even more. He has moments where he doesn’t make the smartest decisions at first, but the more hardships and challenges he faces, strengthen him and give him experience. He becomes someone who does what’s right, and doesn’t sway under the influence of others. He has a unique perspective due to his kittypet roots that the others don’t have, which allows him to problem solve in a different way. He’s a good friend, and offers kindness and compassion towards those who don’t always deserve it, but he’s not a push over. He’s a good guy, and I really like him.

It really annoys me to see people rant about Firestar being overrated (Not saying you are of course.) because he's earned his love many times over. He's such a great cat, he's interesting and he's reasonable, and I don't see why people seem to think he doesn't deserve his love. I know people can be annoyed about how the spotlight is mainly focused on his relatives, which I do agree with, but his character I believe is really well-written.

Nope. Firestar has always been my favorite character and I think that he deserves all the love/attention he gets from the writing and fandom <3
He was the first protagonist, saved the Clans multiple times, had a great character journey in the first arc by going from kittypet outsider to Clan leader and also still has flaws (he's not a mary sue/gary stu, as claimed by some fans).
I understand that some people thought he became boring in the later arcs or some think his family is getting too much attention and that's valid (even though I disagree with the first thing and don't see the latter as a bad thing overall even though other families deserve attention too, of course) but that doesn't change the fact that he's fully earned his place as the iconic character he is, modern cameos that feel like fan service (which are still fun) like in ALitM included.

I think he kind of is. It's understandable of course, since he was the first protagonist and he's a very heroic character, but I think a lot of the reasons people like him is actually just liking the first series. He was a good camera to the warrior cats world from an outside perspective, but his character beyond that is, in my opinion, a bit flat. He just wasn't that interesting, unless you read him as an unreliable narrator.
Also, him being the fourth cat was such a let down. Wish it had been just about anyone else.

Firestar is a case in which I think he deserves all the love he gets, and that love from the fandom isn’t blown over the top either. He’s appreciated for his strong character arc, his story, and his kind yet “takes no bs” personality. I think Firestar was the perfect first protagonist and face of the series, he deserves the love he gets

Reading all of these replies makes me think that Firestar can be a bit overrated but also a good character at the same time. He could've been a better mate to Sandstorm though and he always had that secret crush on Spottedleaf but oh well. But TPB Firestar will always be my favorite
