So I was looking at the moon cycle when a thought occurred to me— how many times do the medicine cats meet between full-moon Gatherings? Is it once or twice? Somehow I’ve never thought before about how there are two half-moons in the sky a month.
I don’t know how I’m only realizing this now. But I always assumed med cats met once a month, two weeks (a “half-moon”) between Gatherings. Which would be when the new moon is in the sky. That made sense to me, given how the books seemed to depict a Gathering, then a half-moon meeting, and then another Gathering.
Yet somehow I simultaneously recognized that the moon is described as half-full during these meetings? So are there two half-moon meetings every month, or are they just meeting at either the first quarter moon or the third quarter moon?
Has anyone else been confused by this? I feel really mouse-brained, having read the books with this complete cognitive dissonance for years.

I think it was always meant to be once a month, but this was just probably something the Erins probably didn't think of while writing.

I always thought they did two a month, one before Gatherings and one after. It kind of doesn't make sense though since the full moon appears different times of the month.
I assume if the Gathering is late in the month then med cats would only meet once? Then again these cats only have concepts of seasons and not a month system so idk it's bound to be confusing anyways
