"Yeah." Claus sighed. After a while, he asked in a lighter tone. "I wonder why you're so much smaller than me."

Samus leaned back, watching the creature launch himself skyward. A small flutter of pride entered her heart as she watched. One lesson and her student was flying, not bad for someone who never taught anything before.
"Stand back," Claus gently pushed at Lucas with his tail, turning away from his brother he opened his horrendous mouth and roared. His teeth turned black with shadow as a blinding flash erupted from his mouth accompanied by a deafening crack. Claus' mouth snapped shut, and he studied the patch of blackened earth in front of him.

Samus squinted as she thought. "Dead and dark...hm, only one of those is caused by stuff I'm familiar with..." She called up to Pit. "How do you feel about investigating?"
"I am, a little bit," Claus said airily. "Really all I want is to be able to is protect you." He added in a more serious tone. "So, yeah, it is pretty awesome that I can do that."

"Yes, I was already going to investigate, I just wanted to know if you wanted to come as well." Samus looked up at her companion. "I'm not gonna force you to go if you'd rather wait away from it."
Claus nodded. "Yeah! I could crush anything big that tries to hurt you and if a group of little things attacks me, you could set them all on fire!"

"Okay," Samus spoke somewhat softly. "I won't judge you if you run away." She began walking briskly forwards, "That said, let's get a move on, I wanna see what's going on over there."
"I bet we could force whoever got us here to take us home, if we needed to." Claus rumbled thoughtfully.
