Do you think Jayfeather is jealous of Alderpaw, and that's why he is so harsh? I feel like Jayfeather never really got over the fact he isn't Bramblestar and Squirrelflight's real son. I know he always played it cool, but I think deep inside it bothers him.
I think he might be a little jealous of Alderpaw's relationship with Bramblestar and Squirrelflight. Maybe he feels replaced, or like they don't love him as much as they do Alderpaw. And now that Alderpaw is a medicine cat too, he might feel like he's being replaced with his job as well.
Just a random thought I've been having.

This is actually very interesting and I'd love if the Erins actually went into that. I mean, after PoT, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, Bramblestar and Squirrelflight never really acted like a family. Their relations seem more formal less like Bramble and Squirrel are their parents.

I was thinking about this a few days ago. It's interesting, because he must feel more lonely than ever: Squirrelflight and Bramblestar had a litter, his sister is dead, his brother is now a dad and has a new family and his relationship with Leafpool isn't the best.
Even so, he seems to be proud of Alderpaw in TaS.

Jayfeather needs some friends, or something to keep him occupied. He seems very lonely. Hopefully his relationship with Alderpaw will get better as the series goes on and they will become closed.

That's the life of a medicine cat though...it's lonely.
That's mentioned repeatedly throughout the existence of the series.
Medicine cat's live a lonely existences. They're separated from the rest of the Clan because of their code. They can't have a family of their own. Any friendships made aren't as close as a friendship between two warriors. You might remain close to your littermate, but even then it might not be as close as you were as kits.
All in all it's not that Jayfeather might be lonely... He is lonely... Because medicine cats live a lonely life.

Huh, that would explain his behavior. Breezepelt was jealous of his siblings at times too, which probably only added even more aggression into his personality.
Not to mention the fact that he lost Leafpool to ShadowClan.
