Chapter one.
A quiet and rather early morning made many cats grumble, unhappy with the current weather. "It's been snowing again," Remarked Adder paw quietly. Stretching, Drop paw stood, her eyes set on finding her mentor. "See you later, Adder paw, tell Wind paw I'll catch him something." Drop paw called, leaving the apprentice den.
"Hey, slow down there!" Holly frost yowled, after Drop paw had almost run head-first into her. "Sorry!" She called in return, before continuing her trip.
She dashed through the stone cavern, warriors muttering annoyance as she went. "It's about time you made it," Star walker hissed, turning around to face Drop paw. Shaw narrowed her eyes on the stones and herbs there were in Star walker's collection. "They're low,"
"I know." Star walker replied. "So why aren't you going to send out hunters to find herbs?"
"There's a reason for that, two actually," Star walker began, "well, for one, I can't be worrying them, they need to think I have enough herbs to help them, and two, it's my job to find herbs, they must hunt, and defend. They don't have time for silly herb-finding," the elderly grey tom explained, glancing over his shoulder to deliver a dimmed yellow gaze. "Oh, I suppose that makes sense."
"Mm."
"But if you don't tell them, when they are sick, what are you supposed to do when you don't have any herbs to help them? I'm sure that's a lot more worrying than finding herbs will ever be." Drop paw continued cheekily. She waved her tail, as if she were patiently waiting a response. "That's just- Go do something other than bother me."
"Like?"
"Go moon over Adder paw or Wind paw or whatever it is female apprentices do." Star walker growled, leaving Drop paw with a smirk on her bright face. "I don't love anyone," she lied, "I've promised myself to never ever get distracted from my learning and work."
"Oh, to be young and thinkin' that way. Run along, then, and fetch me herbs. Plenty of 'em!"
