The alternate title being "What villains actually intimidate you compared to cliche cardboard copied bad guys?"
I'm curious, because writing actually good villains are difficult and I want to see opinions on specific types of them. I want to see what types of villains intrigues people, and what types actually make people slightly fearful of them.

i enjoy the villain that believes what they're doing it right. that way, it's less of a red vs. blue, and more of a clash of ideals. bonus points if you throw in a crapton of philosophy and mind screw.

The villain who believes they're doing what's right. They're quite interesting, I must admit.

I personally like the villain who is only evil because of family or loyalty. They don't WANT to be bad.

The deceiving ones. They appear to be one of the good guys before backstabbing ensues.
And
A smooth, sly villain that uses their charm and words to get others on their side.

Shaky ones are my personal favorites. Although I like that type of desperation in any character.

The one that stays in the background
and
The villain that believes they are doing the right thing.
