Jayfeather's behavior with Twigkit really bothers me. He was even being lectured by Alderpaw, and I agree with the apprentice: Jayfeather needs to stop being so mean and rejecting Twigkit. What happened to him? I loved Jayfeather because he had a grumpy behavior, but with a soft side, but now he's just... mean. I get that he's busy, but he could try to show a little sympathy and let Twigkit be with him. Jayfeather understands how it feels to be separated by his own sibling (Hollyleaf), and he's been soft in previous books, but now he just seems mean and doesn't act like he cares about the kit at all. He even went as far as telling Alderpaw not to worry about the kit, like his feelings doesn't matter!
"Don't tell me how to behave!" Jayfeather hissed. "I already know my herbs. I can cure my Clanmates. You should spend less time worrying about that kit and more time concentrating on your training." Jayfeather was such a great character, one of the most decent ones, but now he's just an ass and he reminds me a lot of Crowfeather.
Now before you mention it, yes I know they lost Leafpool to ShadowClan, I know he lost his powers, but I don't care. This is a kitten who feels rejected and Jayfeather should understand that since he's been rejected himself. But clearly learning is more important than a living kitten's feelings. It won't kill Jayfeather to allow Alderpaw to spend some time with Twigkit.

He's become mean in his old age. Hey! I am not mean. Twigpaw just annoys me, that's all.

He's become mean in his old age. I found it pretty funny when Jayfeather actually called himself old.

I've never liked Jayfeather at all. This is just more fuel to the fire, I suppose!

I wonder how this is going to affect his character. Many people love Jayfeather, but many people dislike Crowfeather. If Jayfeather becomes like his father, how will the fandom take this?

It's not Alderpaw's job to care for her. He isn't her father. He isn't her adopted father...in fact thanks to the medicine cat code that states that a medicine cat can't have kits or a mate prevents him from being able to say he's her foster father. The Queens should be looking after Twigkit not Alderpaw. I don't think Jayfeather had a problem with Alderpaw spending time with Twigkit. I think it was the amount of time Alderpaw spent with her vs. How much time he had spent learning his herbs and uses as a medicine cat.
This is a prime example of why medicine cats don't have kits. If spending all that time with her was halting or slowing down Alderpaw's training, then I could understand Jayfeather's frustration. If Alderpaw was a fully trained medicine cat this might be a different story, but he isn't he's still just a medicine cat apprentice, an apprentice that hadn't gotten his full name.
