*None of this is official nor set to take place anytime soon, this is just an IDEA that-may-or-may-not happen*
So a few months back, when I first joined the forums *not this account*, I had watched this youtuber *don't know who* and they said that when they were new to the art community a few more experienced artist took her under their wing and taught her stuff and said she wanted to do that for others.
It has been a long, long time since I saw that and since then I've been planning out ways WC Forums could put this into the website. I've decided to call this the 'Mentors & Apprentices' system or project. The mentors will be experienced forumers *what is this word* that teach their "apprentice" some Warriors knowledge or creative skill that the person wants to know.
Below will be random ideas that are I've constructed over the months:
Mentors: - Can choose to teach general information, Warriors history, about characters, how to navigate WC forums, etc. - And/or can teach a specialized skill to someone else who wishes to learn more about said skill.
- Example: User456 is a Mentor and specializes in writing, Squilf55 wants to learn more about writing in general. They are paired together and now User456 has taken on the responsibility to teach/share what they know about writing with Squif55.
- Sub skills - Writing = World-building, Character creating, etc
- Senior Warrior rank *min, unsure how this would work*
- Up to two apprentices if they have the time and/or the apprentice works better in a group
Apprentices:
- rank and below *opt* - Is new the forums and/or wants to learn a skill - WIP

ayo you just recreated the old forum schools lmao
I know there were schools for writing and coding, I think there was a mentorship program for comics at some point too?
Totally go for it! I'd be down to lend my knowledge where needed ^^

I didn't know the forums had schools at one point, maybe I should look into it at some point! it was the old forums, not here. I think a few of them transferred over for a few months but died fairly quickly since a lot of the original members that used the services left or never made the move

oh that's a lot of memories, actually ;-; I remember back in 2013ish I joined Sweet's writing school. Skyfall taught me for a while, like a dozen or so short story workshops, and then Sweet mentored me for a few "finals" before I graduated. Good times.
A user I only remember as Holly (Hollysong with fancy letters??) mentored my coding. Back in that day, there were layout shops (and they were COMPETITIVE) where members could request banners, coding or layouts for any of their threads. It was fairly standard for a well-known shop to "hire" underlings to make the simpler requests, while the main thread owner would handle the harder/bigger projects. I applied to work in Holly's shop as a coder--doing rp headers and signatures mostly, custom coded signatures were HUGE back then--and I eventually moved up to doing dividers in GIMP and headers using the custom font website. And then I moved on to co-own a shop with another user, who I unfortunately don't remember the name of. We were both underlings on Holly's thread and only had our shop for like, less than two months before the forums were deleted. I made the layout for it, though, and I remember being super proud of it. Esp the red/black/gold color scheme. I think the shop was called "loyalty layouts" lmao

Coding is really cool, someday I might attempt to learn it.

it was truly a 2014 forum era moment and I wish more people got to experience that
and coding really isn't that hard!! I found it easiest to learn by copying someone else's code and then messing about with each part to see what it changed
