As a long time fan of fnaf and as someone who used to watch 3 hr long videos explaining the lore, while the animatronics look great, and the movie had Easter eggs all over it, I am kinda disappointed by the storytelling ngl. For a movie that took 9 yrs to create, you would expect a more concise storyline.
I lowkey wish they went with the Mike Schmidt being Michael Afton theory. However, it looks like they wanted to incorporate Vanessa from Security Breach into the story and the best way of doing that was apparently making her the daughter of William Afton.
The thing I loved the most about the theories was the idea that fnaf was a story about redemption. Michael Afton accidentally killed his younger brother which eventually sent in motion the idea that he has to be the one to stop his father. Even when he died, he still kept on. I’m one of those people who find the ending of Pizzeria Simulator to be the perfect ending for the story and treats it as such where Henry, Michael, and William, all burn with the others.
Idk, Scott Cawthon helped with the film and if he came up with this banger of an ending, then maybe with the next two films that are supposedly coming out, the story will play out better.

For me the movie is really in the middle. Not in a "ha this movie was mid af", but in a "it was nor good or bad" way. I felt like the storytelling was quick paced, but it wasn't much of a problem for me. I think it's a solid 7.5/10. But I will be re-watching it on Tuesday in the cinema (couldn't wait so I just watched it online), so my opinion might change. Regardless, I think the critics are being too harsh, it's really not that bad and it was a fun watch I really liked the springlock scene, but the "I always come back" was hilarious. It was really cute when they built the "pillow" fort. What I didn't understand/felt off is when people died they kinda just swept it under the rug? There could have been more about the 4 people that died in the restaurant and the aunt. I don't necessarily mind that tbh, it just didn't feel right I guess? Seeing MatPat and Sparky (why are people saying that's Fetch?) was cool. I heard there are possibly two more movies, so I'm excited for those. Also!! It baffles me that people are saying it's not lore accurate. Of course it's not, everything outside the games is in a different universe

It baffles me that people are saying it's not lore accurate. Of course it's not, everything outside the games is in a different universe I enjoyed all the references to Sparky and Matpat. I never read the books, so I didn’t get some of them until I looked up at more reviews online. I feel like the movie could’ve had a better story. We also never found out it Mike’s aunt is dead or just passed out? And how did Mike just automatically know Abby was gonna be at the pizzeria when she was at home? There was a lot of little things that didn’t match up. How was William controlling them? Was it really through pictures?
Also, I know fnaf can get goofy sometimes, but how did Max just get chomped in half like that. It had me giggling.
I actually liked the line delivery of “I always come back.”
I also plan on seeing it in the theaters next week, but ended up impatient, and bought a Peacock subscription lol.

Idk if I should put in spoilers but I'm doing it anyways- going to be summarizing my thoughts in my thread once I have the chance! The MatPat cameo was so cheesy but I loved it, me and my mom were watching the movie on Peacock last night (she's also an avid Fnaf enjoyer) and we were like "Oh hey he said the thing!" Also THE LIVING TOMBSTONE SONG IN THE CREDITS!!! WE WON!!! That must've been CRAZY to listen to in theaters!

Just watched it and I thought it was fun! They're doing some wonky stuff with the lore, but I think that's ok. The games and books already have different lore, the movies might as well make something new to lol The critics are being too harsh imo. edit: AND OH, the Animatronics were really well done! I'm glad they went for that instead of just doing CGI.
I thought the fort scene was a little goofy and not needed, but if you ignore the child murder FNAF is kinda a silly goofy series so it's not totally out of what I was expecting. I wish Mark had the time to do a cameo, but maybe he will if we get more movies! It was fun to see MatPat. The scene where Springtrap walked in was spooky, I liked it a lot. Otherwise I think it was kinda of weak on the horror side of things. I think they could have relied on jump scares more, it IS the jump scare game after all.
LOVED that we got a Living Tombstone song for the credits! I got really excited when it started to play, it's a BOP.

It was so good lol. I noticed a lot of people who didn't like it weren't fnaf fans. I saw in an interview someone said "we're making this movie to keep current fans engaged, not to enlarge the audience" and they were so right - there was tons of stuff you could only really catch onto if you were a fnaf fan. Here's some of the stuff I saw. - Sparky the Dog in the storage room, as well as the Sparky's cafe place as a reference to the hoax when fnaf 1 came out
- The springlock suit that Abby was going to be stuffed into was the robot from 1:35am, a fazbear frights book. Could've also been a reference to how Abby is basically Elizabeth Afton and the 1:35am robot looks like Circus Baby
- Abby's name being an anagram of "Baby"
- Matpat and CoryxKenshin, obviously. As well as several fnaf youtubers being mentioned on the "employees of the month" board in the background of one of the scenes
- The mascot for the ice cream parlour that Mike works for in the beginning is the rainbow from Chica's Magic Rainbow, a FNaF world minigame. Also ice cream parlour could be a reference to Circus Baby, as was the ice cream parlour in security breach
- One of the break-in guys was wearing a shirt that seemingly had the minigame Midnight Motorist on it, a reference to pizza sim
- Mike's dream theory book referencing a fnaf 4 theory
- Aton taking the place of phone guy could reference the phone guy = purple guy theory
- Freddy eating Max as a reference to the bite
- "IT'S ME" written on some dust on a mirror as a reference to golden freddy's iconic quote
- mike's little brother didn't appear as a ghost because he is the more "chill" spirit of the two that possess golden freddy. the reason golden was such an opp in that movie is because one of the two spirits is also insanely aggressive and hellbent on revenge
- the animatronics all watching afton springlock as a reference to what happened in the books
- vanessa being afton's daughter connects to how afton and vanessa were working together in security breach to kill kids, but actually afton was manipulating her. afton says "help me clean up again" implying that she's covered up his past murders, maybe even helped
- the puppet music box in the outro, also the iconic fnaf song
- foxy's iconic hall singing
- bonnie killing one of the break-in dudes in the janitor's closet as a reference to how bonnie is the only one that goes to that spot in fnaf 1
- in abby's classroom there's a chalkboard in the back that has "charlotte" as a reference to the puppet, also fox, bunny, chick and bear are on there too
- balloon boy
- obviously the iconic "i always come back" line
- abby hiding from foxy in the arcade is a reference to a scene from the silver eyes
- abby hiding in the ballpit as a reference to one of the fazbear frights, into the pit
- after credits scene of a robotic voice spelling out "come find me" as a reference to what happens in fnaf 2, also could be a reference to when mike says "father, i'm going to come find you" in the games
- the living room in abby and mike's house is an EXACT replica of the one in sister location
- in the family portrait, mike's little brother is shown wearing a striped t-shirt like the crying child as that is the character he replaces
- one of the break-in dudes was called jeff, a reference to jeff wilson who was the manager of fredbear's
- all the break-in dudes looked like the fnaf bully kids
(oh, and not a fnaf fan thing but afton wipes the knife as a reference to scream because afton's actor played in scream 1)

Yeah, for 9 years in the making, the story could’ve been better but will I rewatch it once a week for the rest of my life, probably

Yeah, for 9 years in the making, the story could’ve been better but will I rewatch it once a week for the rest of my life, probably I talked about this in my discord with some of my friends I feel like they knew kids were going to see it hence the pg 13 rating but i really think the pg 13 rating held back the story from actually reaching it's full potential, so it got hung up on being really simple and not showing a lot to make sure it didn't become r rated. So like. It's just okay. And that's kind of sad. But it's nowhere near as bad as people are complaining about it like it's the worst movie of all time or something. I did enjoy going to the movies and some of the scenes it's hard to pinpoint what exactly was even wrong with it that could improve what they had.

I think when you've invested in something for so long as a fan, you build unrealistic expectations, and just end up being disappointed. I don't think the movie is bad per se. It has a great soundtrack and I loved the practical effects when it came to the animatronics and also all the Easter eggs, but the story was lacking. I really wanted Mike Schmidt to be Michael Afton because that would've been compelling to see on the big screen, but I suppose the creator wanted the game and movie to have their own stories going on. Anyways, I am still grateful that there at least is a movie.

That's probably why, you would need a lot more context to like this movie I know the lore I just straight up don't like fnaf. I think the games are boring and cheesy. I was hoping the movie would make me like it more though because I do find it generally interesting enough, just not to play, and I'm in too many other fandoms to really care about whatever books there are or whatever other youtubers say about it
