Yeah yeah back with another villain/Dark Forest related thread but skimming through the Last Hope again while going through this thread: "https://wcrpforums.com/thread/62126/why-brokenstar-leader-dark-forest"
Really got me thinking. Assuming Brokenstar, Tigerstar, and Hawkfrost survived would anybody listen to them again? I mean Brokenstar and Tigerstar give this grand speech right before the battle begins in the last hope: -------- “This is the last night you’ll spend in this stinking forest!” Brokenstar declared from the stump. His amber eyes gleamed as he surveyed the sea of bristling pelts. -------- Tigerstar leaped onto the tree stump and nudged Brokenstar aside. “Tonight we will sweep away the warrior code that has robbed the Clans of true honor for so long. For too many moons, the Clans have nurtured the weak and rejected the strong.” He swung his broad head around to take in all the cats below him. “But tonight we will rage through the Clans like a storm until only the strong remain. We will build a new Clan where strength and victory are prized above weakness and failure!” “No more warrior code!” yowled a battered tabby. “The Dark Forest will rule the Clans!” Cries rose from the crowd. “Follow me tonight!” Tigerstar lifted his voice. “And I promise you more power and freedom than you have ever known.” The Dark Forest warriors’ cheers rang in Dovewing’s ears." 246 (pdf version) -------- Brokenstar claiming that they won't have to stay in the Dark Forest is a pretty big promise and claim to make before a battle. Not to mention the fake promises Tigerstar made before slinking off into the shadows before getting his 1v1 with Firestar (and then getting beat). Assuming the big three leaders lived would anybody actually listen to them? Or become leaders again? Would any bitter Dark Forest cat try and kill one of them? Mapleshade seemed to be more of a advisor/secondary leader compared to the other three.

Probably not, but the Clans put some pretty terrible people in charge so I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to get manipulated by the same horrible dude again

Interesting topic!
I personally don't think that anybody with common sense would've listened after seeing the Clans live and beat them up the first time, but some cats might support them out of fear or they have no morally good brain cells, like Breezepelt. (I like him don't hurt me)

Tigerstar probably manipulates everyone into blaming Brokenstar for it and manages to wriggle his way into top position that way. He's good at that and the fact that he let Brokenstar and Hawkfrost take the spotlight gave him a good deal more flexibility.

I think that someone else would try to take over and come up with a different plan that would ultimately fail because they are the villains and this is still a book series for children where "good always wins" and all that. Maybe Mapleshade or Thistleclaw would try their luck first.
Not sure how often this would be repeated since it would get rather tiring for the Clans in universe and readers in real life if the Dark Forest tried to still destroy or take over the Clans multiple arcs in a row.
Another more interesting take could be the older DF cats (such as Maggottail and Silverhawk or perhaps even One Eye) taking over and deciding to do things their own way from now one while no longer letting the younger/newer spirits be in charge of anything.
Regarding Brokenstar, Tigerstar and Hawkfrost as the former leadership characters though, I'm thinking that Brokenstar might either try to continue making vengeful plans forever that no one takes serious any longer or that he chooses to walk alone from the others again and that the DF will eventually get back to that concept of spirits not interacting much with each other in general like it was shown in TNP, PoT and TBC. Even though it got kinda retconned in additional material (like CP and SpH).
Tigerstar would never give up on wanting revenge on Firestar though, I'm sure. I do think he wouldn't try to convince the other spirits to fight for him again but rather go off on his own and eventually be double killed. Either by Firestar or by Hawkfrost if he ever grew tired of his father's obession and being stuck in the Dark Forest forever. Or even just him finally realizing that his father doesn't really care about any of his kits and only about himself instead.
