Not a vegan myself, but if you wanted to elaborate, I'd be interested in reading about that. Just speaking out of genuine curiosity. Do you mean like vegans as a whole, or vegans who are one step away from joining PETA?

Do you mean like vegans as a whole, or vegans who are one step away from joining PETA? Both actually. I can't stand the air of supriority or open denial of people who have food intolerance, eating disorders, or live in areas where fresh food is unaffordable or completely unavailable. Or the outright denial of natural science on moral grounds. They're like religious zealots, but about food. Even vegans who don't harass people openly still treat it like it's a moral high-horse and look down on other people which I do not care for.
I don't care if thats what you choose for yourself- or if you bring it up because it's relevant (Ex: I've invited you for dinner, and you tell me your food restrictions and preferences. I will be fine with that- I'm not a complete asshole.) But if you're bringing it up as a topic out of the blue, or acting superior because I'm eating something and making my own choice that you don't like you can get lost.

something really petty that annoys me about vegans is that they pretend like there’s no difference between vegan versions of foods and the original version. I can absolutely tell a difference between, for example, vegan cupcakes and regular cupcakes. idk if I’m just unusually sensitive to tastes or what, but either way I wish they’d just admit that vegan substitutes are fundamentally different from the original.
also a lot of vegan products are not ethically sourced (cough quinoa). if you want to buy ethically sourced food your best bet is to buy local as much as possible IMO

I do understand where you're coming from. Come to think of it, I haven't met a vegan personally who didn't put their choice on some sort of pedestal - some have been delusional enough to claim you can't be progressive unless you're vegan. That's like saying you can't be a progressive unless you choose to ride a bicycle everywhere. Of course there's also those who feed their pet cats and dogs non-meat products (ex. salad, fruits, etc.) under the claim it's "morally correct", but I won't go down this rabbit hole here, not in this thread at least.
I would be fine with any vegan if they just let you know they don't like animal products in their diet, and left it at that. Such as, "Oh, I would love to attend dinner with you, but just to let you know, please don't prepare anything for me with animal products in it."

Basically, if you decide to consume plant-based products exclusively, but you buy them from a store, those food items came from a giant field miles or even countries away that resulted in the extermination of countless wildlife. If you want to be vegan, all the power to do, just... go local if you don't want to be seen as a hypocrite. xP

Also the belief that you can't both eat meat and still want farming practices to change? Because yeah theres a LOT wrong in what we're currently doing.
I don't support having livestock in cramped and filthy conditions. They are still living creatures that DO deserve quality of life. Not to mention we've proven animals who have had better lives also taste better lol.

I don't support having livestock in cramped and filthy conditions. They are still living creatures that DO deserve quality of life. Not to mention we've proven animals who have had better lives also taste better lol. tbh what annoys me the most about vegans bringing up their moral high ground is that they usually pick the weakest arguments to defend their position??? There's so many good reasons to not support cattle farming: the treatment of the animals, the mass deforestation of natural landscapes for pasture, the carbon emissions from large cattle farms + transport. "you should feel bad for eating meat" is really not the way to go if you're actually trying to convince someone to go vegan imo. Also that we domesticated animals for the purpose of using their materials??? Like we can't just let the chickens and cows free without taking eggs/milk, that wouldn't be humane either. And don't even get me started on anti-hunting, especially deer hunting; deer are so overpopulated in the midwest because we drove out all the natural predators, if we don't fill that niche, it would be a huge problem. And if it's necessary to cull them anyways, it's more respectful to use the animal than to throw it away. Anyways, I've reduced my meat intake because yeah, I think current farming practices are horrible and I'd like to lessen my impact, even if it's just one person deciding to have vegetarian meals 3-4 days a week and supplementing with fish/game in the seasons it's practical to do so. But one person or even a million people being vegan isn't going to change the industry, there's no way to do that without structural reform and probably a lot of government subsidies because let's be honest, that's really the only way any agricultural reform will be funded.

I think we can have reform without completely changing the way we eat anyway. Aside from the fact there are no true obligate herbivores. Literally any herbivore will also kill and eat things or feed on carrion if it's an easy meal. Why should we be any different?
The white side of my family is a bunch of hicks from the sticks, and my biodad's side are native. Both sides raised me to respect animals, and let absolutely nothing go to waste when hunting and fishing is necessary. Even if some of it just goes to other people because you personally can't use it.
Which is also why I have no problem with real leather and fur either. (Unless something was hunted ONLY for that and let the rest go to waste.) Besides, real leather and fur lasts much longer than synthetic and is actually biodegradeable instead of more plastic adding to the problem.

Feel the same way about anti-animal testing propaganda videos put out by animals rights groups. I feel like I could make a better video against animal research than them because these videos leave the impression that they actually know very little about research and really love dogs (because when they infiltrate a research building it is almost ALWAYS to film the dogs. Nobody gives a shit about the rodents).

I hate how hard it is to get people to do anything! Why can’t we have a pizza-and-video-games night or bring a lunch and toss a frisbee around in the park when it’s sunny? Why does no one want to go for a walk on the beach or hang out and bake cookies for an afternoon or go check out a local festival or something????? Because it’s easier to just watch a movie or look at videos on our phones, I guess. But that’s boring. I want someone to share experiences with, not just memes or “this funny thing you saw on tiktok.” Please give me human interaction!
There’s a new retro arcade opening in town and I’m v excited for it, but will it even succeed when nobody wants to go out and do things together anymore???

which is sad tbh. like i'm putting the extra effort in to recycle it only for it to end up exactly where i didn't want it to go....
on the topic of semi recyclable material that always ends up in a landfill. i hate styrofoam. i hate opening packages at work and its filled with styrofoam and when i try to take the other stuff out of the box the styrofoam goes EEEE EE E E EE E EEEE EEE E EE
Its cause someone has to actually buy the recycling, then spend money to have it sorted and broken down and actually re-cycled into a new thing. And usually it’s way less hassle and cheaper to just make new plastic. Plastic can also only be recycled a few times before its integrity is compromised. Metal is generally the exception. Aluminum can recycled almost indefinitely, and it’s extremely easy to do so which means it’s cheap. When possible, I try to get either metal, paper, or glass packaging (since the latter two can at least biodegrade even if they aren’t recycled). i learned about this in my env sci class a couple years ago! it's true, glass can also be recycled almost infinitely. and same i do usually go for non-plastic packaging when available

The one friend.
By this, I mean it could be all sorts of things. However, I state this in the sense that they're unkind or unpleasant to be around. I have one of them, a girl, short, blonde-white hair, high-pitched voice.
Now, I don't want to be rude about it at all, but she is just really rude. Like, I don't think she'll mean to offend you, but she's super sensitive to the point in fourth grade one of my friends did something with STRING and she started crying. Then, during a birthday party at the arcade, a friend (who I kind of don't like anyway, but I still felt sorry for her) one a prize in the claw machine (some sort of boba tea plush.) and the girl ended up GIVING IT TO THE ANNOYING FRIEND due to pressure created by her.
Thankfully, she moved schools last year, and there even was a rumor that she was coming back. However, this was false.
It's not just all that, but all my friends find or somewhat rude and annoying. One of my friends recently went over to her house, and stated she was still kind of demanding. She also gets easily upset over minor things, and half the time me and other people are forced to do what she wants, even if it's just her.
Well, at least I won't have to ever see her again (hopefully.)
