What have been some notable moments of foreshadowing in the books? Excluding prophecies and omens; those are kinda just lazy plot devices for foreshadowing. One I like, (and noticed right away since I got spoiled for ALITM before reading TPONS, spoilers obviously): is Bristlefrost's attempt to dive into the Moonpool after Rootspring is dragged in. She starts to go unconscious, and she thinks to herself about how pointless her death would be if this is how she dies. She doesn't drown here, of course, and is saved by Mothwing.
Maybe it's more of a foil than foreshadowing, but the idea of Bristlefrost drowning for no reason, for no purpose, and so wastefully, is interesting given her actual death (by drowning!) is so impactful and important, and, in a way, saved Rootspring.
Also the numerous times throughout the back half of ALITM when Bristlefrost nearly falls into the dark water. She almost falls in more than any of the other cats (excluding Rootspring). I know it's 'foreshadowing' for only a few chapters, but knowing how it ends for her, it kinda hurt man. Does anyone else have any examples?

That one Bristlefrost moment in the beginning (during Lost Stars when she saves Rootspring from drowning) was just confirmed to have indeed been foreshadowing with their recent HQ article on the official website (I made a thread about it on here). The other instances of her almost drowning or thinking about it during TBC was thus most definitely foreshadowing of how her story would ultimately end as well.
As for other moments, this is moreso a visual one but when Nightstar and Runningnose return from the Moonstone in his GN, the light shining through the trees forms a pattern of shadows on the forest ground that looks like tiger stripes, while they are talking about the future of ShadowClan. This was already pointed out by other people when EfSh first came out, of course. But I still think it was a pretty neat detail to have there regarding one of ShadowClan's most notorious leaders, Tigerstar (even though EfSh came out long after he was already gone forever, it still takes place before he even came to ShadowClan timeline-wise).

in OotS in TLH. Right after Jayfeather tells the Three about the tribes prophecy Dovewing runs into Firestar where he says "and remember, the final responsibility is mine. You don't hold the whole Clan in your paws, I just need you to do what you can. I'll do the rest" he also mentioned how She was very Young to carry so much Responsibility which Was really cute imo. I love Dad Firestar

i wouldnt say foreshadowing because it came out afterwards, but if you're reading the books in order of timeline then yeah itd be foreshadowing but uhmmmmm this will always b my favourite bit of foreshadowing idk its just so cool context: the grass looks orange from the sunlight and the shadows of the trees make it look like tiger fur. and nightstar is talking with runningnose about the next leader of shadowclan

This isn’t a foreshadow, more like a parallel, but I love it nonetheless:
When Hollyleaf initially decides to poison Leafpool with deathberries to make her pay for her lies, then (at her pleas) decided letting her live with the truth would be a much worse punishment.
This parallels exactly what Ashfur did to Squirrelflight at the fire scene, thus underscoring how Hollyleaf’s downward spiral was making her as irrational and cruel as Ashfur, whose tirade also ended in death (although only seemingly for her).

I don’t know how intentional this is, but I’ve always viewed it as foreshadowing:
In Twilight, Leafpool is hiding beneath a holly bush at the WindClan border, hoping to meet Crowfeather while avoiding a ThunderClan patrol. But Sorreltail notices her. Still hiding in the holly, Leafpool conceals the truth to deceive her Clanmate and cover up her relationship with Crowfeather.
“Leafpool, whatever are you doing under there?” “Looking for berries,” she mewed feebly. “Holly berries?” Sorreltail’s amber eyes stretched wide in surprise. “I thought they were poisonous.” “Yes, they are. I was… er….”
This could be a stretch, but whenever I read this scene I see it as foreshadowing for Hollyleaf, her murderous descent, and maybe even the death-berry scene. Her name links her to Leafpool’s deception, reflecting the way she— moreso than her brothers— is consumed at her core by a sense of betrayal upon finding out the truth.

The hints towards Ashfur being the imposter: - "Bramblestar" suddenly acting overly possessive of Squirrelfight and seems almost infatuated with her. That "you never lost your fire, Squirrelflight" line especially. Acting controlling of her (barring her from leaving camp and giving her deputy duties to Bristlefrost) and easily angered when Squirrelflight argued or pointed out he was being dumb.
- Again on his controlling nature, he often manipulated Squirrelflight with guilt trips and tried to control her back in TNP too. Him being a dictator while being leader of ThunderClan seems pretty in-character.
- Bramblestar not knowing things he should know previously, such as Dewnose's name or former apprentice (Dewnose especially since he was one of the first warriors Bramblestar actually made!) and at the start was inspecting the camp as if he was unfamiliar with it.
- Ashfur using children as pawns isn't unheard of. He used Birchpaw back in TNP much like he did Bristlefrost and Shadowsight.
- A bit broad and far too many examples, but he's a raging hypocrite in every book he appears in.
- During his reign of ThunderClan, it's made pretty clear that while anybody was fair game to be tormented upon, "Bramblestar" went out of his way to bully and go after Squirrelflight's close kin (Jay, Lion, Alder, Spark, Flame, and Finch). I mean, he even makes contrived excuses to get rid of Jayfeather and Alderheart because of how much he hates them despite them being the Clan's doctors. He even talks smack about Leafpool and pretty clearly shows that he doesn't understand why Squirrelflight went with the lie.
- His attempted murder of Sparkpelt! Obviously he tried to kill her on the basis of being related to Squirrelflight, but the way he tried is the exact same way his mother died.
- His veiled threats to Finchpaw and Flamepaw are similiar to the threats he made back in PoT to the three.
- Squirrelflight and Tigerstar comment that the spirit possessing Bramblestar's body must have been a warrior once, not a non-Clanborn cat.
- The editors actually remembered Ashfur was a xenophobe. He makes comments about Rootspring and Needleclaw not having "pure" Clan blood, and remarks about Tree not being a true Clan cat. He also exiles Lionblaze and Jayfeather because they're half-Clan.
- Shadowsight noting that his true eye colour was dark blue. Bristlefrost also sees that flash of blue in book 3.
- Obviously this aspect is underdeveloped and a bit inconsistent, but we've seen with Cinderpelt/Cinderheart that StarClan cats can possess bodies, they just require consent. Ashfur killing Bramblestar and severing the connection to StarClan negates the need for consent and leaves him in full control.
