I am looking forward to it. I think if I hadn't read so much Warriors recently it wouldn't be so bad but I think I am indeed going to spiral The last time I did a full re-read (no audiobooks) was when I started getting into the series again in 2020 after a long break (and finally joined the fandom). Might do one again starting this year and month (since it's still the 20th Anniversary and such). But I will for sure skip the books I know that are trash (for me) or at the very least just skim through them instead.

In saying that if I could read Polish I would 100% buy all the books at the drop of a hat

The Sun Trail Thoughts;
This is going to be very muddled as I am now on the third book and only just had the idea to do a 'reflection' on the books as I go cause why not. So here goes:
1. I really like that it open in the Tribe. Particularly seeing the Tribe in it's infancy, because knowing the Jayfeather as Jay's Wing help0ed to lead them to the mountains and appointed Half Moon as the first Teller of the Pointed Stones.
2. Enjoyed Grey Wing's character. Him not wanting to leave despite how hard it is, wanting to stay in his home and being undriven by any need to see what lies beyond or being pushed by any prophecy delivered to him was great. The fact that it was his mother that encouraged and eventually begged him to go to find Jagged Peak and protect him and find a newer, better life for themselves was enjoyable.
3. The cats arriving to the Old Forest Territory (Full circle, found it funny.) And how the settle into the moor. At this point you can kind of see how the first clan is going to form, and the fact that it kind of starts with WindClan is cool
4. Gorse and Wind are legends and I loved them right from the beginning
5. Clear Sky leaving the moor and now I as the reader can see the splitting of the cats and even more of the formation of the Clans
6. Clear Sky being the one to introduce the idea of territory and borders and taking in rogues to form a group.
7. Disliking Clear Sky because of his exiling Jagged Peak, his own brother, from the group because despite forming his own group that he so desperately wants to keep fed, he will not tolerate any weakness and won't look after the sick and disabled like future Clans, and even how his old Tribe friends, do.
8. Clear Sky rejecting his own kit because he's lost two love interests and it's 'too painful'. Grow up. commit. Be a father.
9. The fact that Grey Wing and Clear Sky have two shared love interests and every time that she cat winds up with Clear Sky.... Are they blind??? Grey Wing all day every day
10. Grey Wing committing to be Thunder's father.... awwww. What a good man.
11. How the cats struggle without the expertise and knowledge available to the medicine cats in the future Clans is good and an aspect that really made the stakes higher.

Two more lil reflections as I am now on The Blazing Star so am overdue 2 Thoughts Thunder RisingThunder is not my favourite POV character. I don't know why but he just didn't overly interest me. I believe that it's this book that starts referring to the two groups as being the Moor cats and the Forest cats and it's like ooooohhhhh closer and closer to Clan divisionssssss ooooohhhhh Poor Turtle Tail. She comes back, pregnant, fresh off being bulled in a place where she felt comfortable at one point only to face her old friends being hesitant to take her back. I really don't understand this as I feel, like Grey Wing, if a friend of mine came back and needed my help I would help them. Grey Wing is such a good, if oblivious boy. He adopts her kits and realises her feelings for him- after she FINALLY confesses to him instead of expecting him to read her mind. It's so nice to see him with someone that doesn't get with his brother instead. Wind and Gorse, the best rogues ever <3 They are straight with Grey Wing and tell him his brother is being a territory hog and making hunting hard for everyone. Also them saving Jagged Peak from a collapsed tunnel. They easily could have not involved themselves but they did! And when Grey Wing asks Tall Shadow if they can join she outright says no? She begrudgingly lets them stay like a night but come on they saved one of your cats. You could at least try a trial period. I was never really a huge fan of Tall Shadow in the first few books as she seems very passive and closed off which is fine, and it creates a good balance for Grey Wing who seems to want to let everyone join. There is a good medium but individually they do cannot strike that balance alone. I think they would make a good leader and deputy duo if this was set in later books. But I do love their (Grey Wing and Tall Shadow) dynamic. Eventually thought at some point the are actually accepted into the group. And the best part is that they make fun of getting 'long' names and make references to future Tribe names- like suggesting Wind becomes Wind That Chases Rabbits Down Burrows and Gorse becomes Gorse Prickle Stuck in Paw absolutely the highlight of the book for me. However they take the names Wind Runner and Gorse Fur, like the mountain cat's names. Grey Wing adopting Turtle Tail's kits, so he is a proud dad of like four adopted children now I think? Also Pebble Heart will forever be the first medicine cat and I will fight Moth Flight on this. He recieved more visions and had a much better interest in herbs ( learning what he could from a young age. Yes yes I know Moth Flight wanted to find new herbs but that's another fight for another day) I think this is an interesting opposition to Bramblestar considering the PUBLISHING order of the books- DotC coming after PoT and OotS. Very, very interesting!! Tall Shadow rejecting poor Bumble when she comes to ask for help. This I do kind of understand as she is a kittypet and has no idea of how hard being a wild cat will be. Probably would have been nicer if they had known about the barn at this point, she could have gone there poor Bumble. Onto the major plot points of the book which means more focus on Thunder, sad for me; After a forest fire where the Moor cats go to help the Forest cats and the Forest cats come to the moor for a couple days, Thunder gets acquainted with his father. After a single NPC rat battle where his bio father teaches him some moves Thunder forgets all about the cats that raised him and Clear Sky is the best thing since sliced bread in Thunder's mind. This is only further solidified when Clear Sky lies and is all like 'oh you passed my test good job.' Yeah you only want your son back now because he might be of use to you and the hard part of raising him as a kit is over! Thunder defects to the Forest cats when they return to their camp like the next day it seems like. (Much to Grey Wing's disappointment as he wants everyone to live on the moor. Also he kind of cops it from Thunder being all " I wanna be with my REAL dad!". You know it's not gonna be good when even Grey Wing knows his brother was so wrong in the way he has treated his son) Anyway, Thunder quickly realises that the pedestal he put his bio father on is sinking because Clear Sky starts getting real aggro about Thunder missing prey and is defensive of his borders to the point where he is overly forceful about cats not being in his territory. Also don't worry I haven't forgotten that this book reminds us that Clear Sky is ableist as he insult poor Jagged Peak who has found his place serving his group by looking after the kits. Thankfully Grey Wing calls him out on it and tells him to relax and leave their brother alone. Pretty much from here on out in the book the only thing I cared about is Tall Shadow giving leadership over to Grey Wing mostly due to grief and trying to care for her dying brother. Or because the cats made it very obvious that Grey Wing is favoured by them as a leader. I think, in all honestly at the points both of them are at neither Tall Shadow nor Grey Wing make good leaders alone. I think they are much better as a team. That's about that for Thunder Rising because in all honesty, those are poin ts that mattered to me in the book/ what I found interesting.

The First BattleThunder finally realises his father is a dictator asshole and tries to stage a public uprising after the encouragement of 2 new rogues but no one lands up supporting him. His father shoves his face into a festering wound to get across his point that to Clear Sky, and injured member of his group is useless and if they cannot provided then they get kicked out. Thunder leaves with Frost (the injured cat) to go back to the moor. Falling Feather, one of the group from the mountain, volunteers to take them to the border. On the way she tell Thunder that she almost joined him. Clear Sky, who followed them to the border, overhears this and when Falling Feather returns to the camp he drags her in public for being 'disloyal' and proclaims her to be lower than a snake and that any cat can take her prey from her for themselves. This is so cruel, with the knowledge that in later books something like this probably would have been treated differently. Probably anyway. On his return Jagged Peak is very suspicious of Thunder. Can kind of understand this from Jagged Peak as in his mind Thunder has tried to reclaim Clear Sky as his father and his been hanging out with a greedy, ableist cat. Oh and a murderer! I forgot for a second there that I'm pretty sure that Clear Sky kill;ed Bumble? And allowed his cats to kill a she-cat and suggested killing her kits but instead one of his cats takes them in. Wild. On the topic of Clear Sky's sins, Grey Wing is in two minds for pretty much the whole book. He still sees the good in Clear Sky but the cats around him rightfully always remind him of all the wrong things his brother has done. Heck his other brother is a WALKING reminder of how awful Clear Sky can be! For some reason in this book Tall Shadow officially welcomes Wind Runner and Gorse Fur formally to the group? At this point it's a bit tedious because they have proved themselves again and again, not to mention that they have taken on names to reflect the cats around them! Meanwhile, Turtle Tail's kits are growing and guess who makes an appearance? Yet another disgustingly sub par biological father. Tom, a kittypet who was adopted by Bumble's twolegs after Turtle Tail went to live with her, comes to the cats claiming he has the right to know his kits. He is smarmy at best and out right arrogant and rude at worst. He truly is awful straight from the get go. He takes this a step further by kidnapping his kits while the whole group is distracted. This launches a rescue mission to the Twoleg Place. Thunder and Lightning Tail go, and Grey Wing stays behind because over the course of the book it becomes known that his lungs have been damaged from smoke inhalation from the fire in the last book. On The way Thunder and Lightning Tail are joined by River, a mysterious cat who appeared in the last book where he helped the cats cross the river to escape the fire. He is equally as mysterious and knowledgeable in this book as he is in the last. The cats discover Turtle Tail, who had of course gone ahead to rescue her kits alone, has died after being hit by a car. They hide her under a bush and cover her with petals, knowing they will have to come back this way with the kits and not wanting her to be seen by her kits. Speaking of, they find the kits at Toms house where he is hiding them from his people and begging for extra food for them. So ensues Thunder and Lightning Tail trying to convince the kits to come back with them. Long story short, the succeed and they return to the moor. Upon arriving though, Thunder reveals to the kits and Grey Wing that Turtle Tails is dead. The kits are now mad because they have been taken away from the bio father and have returned to 'nothing.' Poor Grey Wing! He is obviously very hurt by this. All the kits he has adopted and loved and raised have turned on him and don't value him for his presence in their lives. He is such a kind, doting and generally upstanding character to have in a young one's life. Give the poor man a break! He has to deal with this immediately after finding out his mate is dead. Things, of course, have been escalating with Clear Sky in the meantime. Most importantly though, it results in.... Drumroll please..... The First Battle! It takes place at what the cats call the four trees (oooohhhhh!!!). It starts because Jacdaw's Cry catches a bat, and eats it because he was held prisoner by Clear Sky for two days and wasn't fed despite Clear Sky claiming he was well looked after. Anyway, big battle cat fight starts. Clear Sky pins down his brother and is about to kill him and Grey Wing telling him to do it. To do it and remember him and how died at his paws. OOF Pretty sure that this is when Clear Sky stops the battle? But special sad mention that really hit me; Jacdaw's Cry killing his sister Falling Feather and slumping dead over her body that really really hit me and made me quite sad. Then the spirit cats appear! Which was such a cool scene and obviously we can see the start of StarClan here! The tell them sum stuff idk I was more excited by their appearance and them telling the cats to come back to the Four trees at the next full moon ( The basis for the gatherings woot) The cats then bury all the cats and four trees and somehow manage to move a massive rock over the mass grave- which, I'm pretty sure becomes the Great Rock of later books.

The Blazing Star
Right so this one and the next two are probably going to be messy af because I am up to Riverstar's home and have neglected to write up a thoughts thingy for the last three book in DotC
Alright so long introductions short, the spirit cats appear and the appointed time when both groups have gathered again at four trees under the full moon. They saw that there is still trouble brewing, and only the Blazing Star will aid them. In addition to this, the groups must spread and grow like the Blazing Star. The living cats are, of course, confused.
Later on, well after the gathering, Clear Sky is being a cretin surprise surprise and takes in Tom, the kittypet who fathered Turtle Tail's kits, and One-Eye, a rogue who was with him. The rogue implies that he may know what the Blazing Star is, and Clear Sky takes him in as well.
Grey Wing hears that Clear Sky has taken in Tom and travels to visit his brother to find out if it's true. Of course, Clear Sky is back on his shite and can't admit any wrong doing of his. Even after learning what Tom has done, Clear Sky lashes out at his brother (after some perceived humiliation, because he's pathetic).
Okay now to just get on with it because I'm running out of patience. Thunder tries to get with this she cat called Star Flower.
She reckons she knows something about the Blazing Star. Anyway blah blah blah the groups work out that it's a plant that will help heal this sickness that has been spreading through the group's prey and themselves.
Surprise surprise turns out Oneeye is evil and kicks Clear Sky out of his clan. While I don't like either of them you know what is great? Clear Sky having something shitty happen to him. And of course he goes crawling to the moor cats and THEY HELP HIM. Yeah yeah because they have to and if they didn't Oneeye would have taken over everything but at this point..... Just don't. Leave him to rot like the trash he is
Oh btw Oneye killed Tom and now Turtle Tail's kits believe they are orphans. WHAT ABOUT GREY WING. HE WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME FOR YOU. Grey Wing really can' catch a mf break from these cats being ungrateful tbh.
Back to Thunder and Star Flower OOPS turns out she's a spy for her father, Oneeye and betrays the Mountain cats.
Long story short, the cats all work together and they kill Oneeye. Starflower tries to get the groups to take her in but they rightfully tell her to beat it.
The cats are left wondering what the spread and grow part of the spirit cats message is. They wonder if perhaps they should split up and choose more territories.

reserved for A Forest Divided
The cats divide up to four groups here. The pines, led by Tall Shadow. The forest, lead by Clear Sky and one for River Ripple's territory. Wind Runner is added in as the leader of the moor cats. Thus the groups divide.
AND AGAIN CLEAR SKY ACTS LIKE AN ASS AND LETS STAR FLOWER JOIN HIS GROUP. Why why why. He knows what she did to his SON. His son, who has joined his group again.
Of course tensions arise and Thunder and a small group of cats decide to leave Clear Sky's group and go make a camp and carve out a territory for themselves (hahaha hi Thunderclan)
Oh and then HE TAKES HER AS HIS MATE. Why??? So now in addition to be foul and taking two of the cats his brother fell in love with he has now taken his son's previous love interest as a mate. GROSS. EW. YUCK YUCK YUCK
Quiet Rain, Grey Wing, Clear Sky and Jagged Peak's mother makes an appearance and absolutely LAYS INTO Clear Sky and rightfully so. Go Quiet Rain for telling your son he is a useless piece of trash because he is!!
Anyway she dies.
A new rogue makes an appearance and causes trouble for the cats. This was a bit... Disappointing tbh because this new dude Slash is just a stupider version of One Eye. They should have kept him around and defeated him in this book.
Anyway they do land up defeating Slash, after he kidnaps Star Flower and holds her captive to try and get the cats to give him prey.
Oh and Grey Wing finds a mate this book which was great- and one that doesn't land up with Clear Sky thank goodness. Her and Grey
Bit boring but it was an okay book. Like at this point the new rogue appearing to cause trouble and how much of a butt Clear Sky is getting a bit old at this point.

Riverstar's Home
For the most part I really like it when Warriors explores different groups of cats; we spend so much time in the Clans that at times it can get boring so seeing the Park cats popping up as well as seeing what the forest was like before the Mountain cats came and how much they changed the forest for the loners and rogues that lived in it was a good perspective.
I didn't really overly like how much of DotC we see retold through Riverstar's eyes BUT on the other hand I love seeing multiple perspectives from cats of different backgrounds and spending so much time in Riverstar's head is a refreshingly removed perspective from the mountain cats.
I like how Riverstar and Night get along so well but they don't become mates ( even if I think it was Riverstar thought that she was confessing to him or he was kind of confessing to her?) but she was very firm in them only being friends and nothing more.
I did find it a bit sad that through spending so much time with Riverstar he really loses a lot of his mysticism and that kind of saddened me. Yes, I guess that the point of the book was to 'humanise' him so we get to know him but I liked how mysterious he was in DotC. But seeing how his group developed was one of the things I liked as well, especially with Night, his closest friend in the group, kind of low key opposing it.
Anyway, there really isn't much I have to say on this special edition. It was fine, a refreshing perspective and good to spend time with the formation of RiverClan which is fascinating. But overall kinda average at best. I did make a mistake and accidently read it before Mothflight's Vision when it for SURE should come after it but oh well haha.

Moth Flight's Vision
Yeah I REALLY should have read Riverstar's home after this one hahaha opsieeeeee
Moth Flight bein a little bit of our neurodivergent rep hell yeah
Wind Runner is so harsh with Moth Flight. Like I get that it comes from a place of fear but maybe just... Talk to you kid? And not yell at her all the time? Big props to Gorse Fur for standing up for his daughter and still believing in her for the majority of the book.
Because of Wind Runner being so harsh on Moth Flight she winds up running away and follows a vision moth. Along the way she discovers the Barn and we meet Cow, Mouse and Micah. Of course Micah has been dreaming about Moth Flight. Anyway together they go and follow the moth to what will become the Moonstone. Well done Moth Flight! Connection to StarClan established.
Anyway, much later on Micah winds up dying because he joined Skyclan and when he attempts to help Moth Flight and a Windclan cat Clear Sky is usual ass self and refuses to let Micah give Moth Flight A PIECE OF A TREE and sends Redclaw up after him. Micah falls and a branch falls on top of him, crushing his spine.
Micah was with the Clans for all of .02 seconds and he has died because of Clear Sky's callousness. Screw that guy fr fr
Wind Runner FINALLY pulls the plug on SkyClan! Thank ****. Clear Sky is such and ass I would have pulled away from them long ago. Wind Runner tries to convinve everyone to abandon Skyclan as they have closed their borders and Clear Sky is so hard to cooperate with for no good damn reason. But of course the other Clans decide to take Clear Sky's side.
SkyClan and WindClan end up having a battle which pisses Moth Flight off because she IS in the right and they should have tried to resolve things by talking to each other first. And Clear Sky so clearly disrespects her until she stands up to him GO MOTH FLIGHT!!!!!!
Anyway this battle results in the death of Willow Pelt and Wind Runner being mortally wounded. She is the first to journey to Moth Flight is a big hypocrite for having a mate and kits but then making the call to make the rule that no medicine cat should have a mate or kits despite having her own. Just because she finds it hard to juggle kits and a medicine cat doesn't mean that others can't. She became a huge worry wart as a mother. Almost cripplingly so. The rule would have been better if it had been something more like 'A medicine shall not have kits unless their apprentice is fully capable of taking care of the Clan until the kits are apprenticed' or something like that. SO MUCH DRAMA WOULD BE AVOIDED LATER ON. And Acorn Fur rightly calls her out on it! Good for you Acorn Fur.
Anyway, this results in Moth Flight giving away her kits, one to each Clan. Which I will admit, would be so incredibly hard and kudos to her for making a call that she thinks is right and would be best for them and benefit her Clan. It would have been so, so hard and I'm glad it ended that way. Not everything and everyone can have what they want and sometimes you have top do things for the greater good.
Overall I did like moth Flight as a protagonist. She has a great growth arc and matures and grows so much over her book. I liked this special edition!
