Lucie Sutton

Physical Description: Lucie is on the shorter side, only 5'4 at 26 years old. She has dark, curly hair cut to the shoulder, sometimes tied back in a bun but often left in a frizz. Her dark brown eyes sit under downwards-tilted brows, her face is rounded, cheekbones low, a scattering of lighter freckles over her nose. Her skin is mid-toned, too dark to tan, but never burns. She has a curvy body type and is slightly overweight from the rich foods her family affords. Yet her arms and legs are strong from the hard labor of the loom; she was given all the hard tasks her siblings didn't want to do and the long hours have given her strength. Her stamina may be great for weaving, but less so for running, and she has a weak core strength.

Personality: Confidence has never been her strong suit. Being the one who picked up most of the distasteful work, Lucie often allows herself to be relegated away from important things and set her own way and can be easy to push around. She would rather go do something she doesn't want to do than make a fuss about it. She hesitates to show weakness or ask for help, but luckily she rarely needs it. She's a sharp thinker and has a strong arm and will, unafraid to take her time to learn skills particularly when no one is there to watch her fail. What she lacks in confidence she makes up for in determination and creativity. She's one to do a task well rather than quickly. She's loyal, and wants to use her position to speak out for those who don't have a voice (even if she's too afraid to take sides). Lucie is the kind of person that wouldn't be brave enough to stand up for someone in an argument, but would make them tea and cookies to help soothe them after the fact. A good friend and outgoing in small circles, but someone who shies away at the first sign of disagreement.

Background: She comes from a long line of weavers, rich folk who, while skillful, rather talk about weaving than do any actual labor themselves. Lucie is the fourth of five daughters: she wasn't in line for inheritance like the eldest, (the second never counted, shunned for leaving the family name and joining the mercenaries), the third was prettiest, in line for a good marriage, and the youngest, four years younger than Lucie, was a weaving prodigy. This left Lucie, the disposable one, to be sent away to the royal circle so that all of her siblings and family could brag about one of their own being royalty without sacrificing the immense power they hold over the weavers. Like the rest of the Suttons, she learned to work the loom before she could even say full sentences. Lucie had taken to it quickly, though she found much more enjoyment knitting and spinning the soft wool than she did working the loom. She had always known she would be pushed to join the royal circle --with the Sutton's overwhelming economic influence on the weavers, there was little hope she would get around that fate. Since she was old enough to understand the arrangement, Lucie has been both excited and mournful of her duty. She knew it was the best she would get, rather than be married off to a lower noble, whatever one her parents could arrange the lowest dower for, hoarding the rest for the other daughters. But she hated that she never got a choice, was frightened of the responsibilities and other royals. Lucie was just a figurehead for the Suttons. She spoke for the weavers, but the Suttons were the weavers. She may occupy the spot on the royal circle, but it was her mother who controlled the seat whenever power could be gleaned from it. But when the royal circle was under duress or the work boring, the Suttons would be happy to ignore the fact that Lucie was there at all.
