I'm back.
Sort of.
And my new kitten is definitely deaf. We checked him out at the vet and my suspicions are correct. They also determined that he's at most three months old, so, uh, there's that.
My mom also named him Suna Mavei (I don't even know how you spell that), because apparently she doesn't want anyone to know how to properly pronounce his name. I'm just going to call him Mavi.
I've figured out that deaf cats are like 90% less anxious than normal cats, because they quite literally can't hear the things that could kill them. Having a non-anxious animal is a huge plus, because all of my other animals are stressed out of their minds 24/7. That's what we get for getting them all from abusive homes, but still.
Anyway, how's life?

I couldn't live with a deaf pet, so I applaud you. Life...well, all you have to do is look at my status to see. Just taking it one day at a time This is my first time having a deaf pet. It's actually kind of easier than having a hearing one, aside from the fact that they can't hear you when you call them. Or the food, etc. A little harder to control with noise if they're being stubborn when they're deaf, but oh well.
I'm sorry that life's been kind of difficult lately. I'm unfortunately not doing much better. But pulling through it is just a part of the process, I suppose.

Well, I mean I have lived with an elderly dog that went deaf (and it looks like I'm getting a repeat of that with one of my current dogs), but I could not adopt a young pet that can't hear all the ridiculous voices and sounds I make for them. It's not fair for either of us.

It's far better if they hear the weird things that you say and them giving you a judging look rather than a deaf animal seeming to completely ignore you. It's the fun part of having a pet, after all.

Awww. Poor cat. Nah, he's fine. He's perfectly happy and content. He was born deaf (he's a white cat with blue eyes), so he really doesn't have a concept of hearing. It's just too bad that his feral colony kicked him out for being deaf (which is understandable. He'd obviously make a poor hunter and defender. Furthermore, his genetics would be terrible and his kittens would have a greater chance of deafness and/or blindness) He's rather lucky that my mom found him when she did.
