Unless that cat has a disability like Brightheart or its to teach a cat how to fight in the dark, I don't think she should be a mentor again. Brightheart has a fighting style that's unique to her, so it'd be a little difficult teaching a normal apprentice how to fight like the rest of their Clanmates. That's why Firestar gave Jaypaw specifically to her and why he denied Hollypaw's suggestion to be trained by her. This is even directly stated in The Sight. And speaking of Jaypaw, I couldn't help but notice that even Brightheart seemed to underestimate while he was training with her.

The Birchfall should get an apprentice. He's one of the few background characters I love and deserves one.

Firestar promised she will have a chance to be mentor again.
Only time will tell.

Well, I disagree with this, I personally believe she should mentor again. Not only did Firestar promise her she would, but she would be a great mentor. Though I do see your point on why she shouldn't get one. In my opinion, she should get an apprentice to teach some of the simpler moves to as well as hunting and then have another cat help along the way. Basically one cat having two mentors.

True, which explains why Runningwind never got one either, I just wonder how Birchfall would be if he ever got an apprentice, especially since his mate and one of his daughters already got to be mentors before and he has expressed desire to be a mentor at least once.

Yeah- I have a feeling Firestar only told Brightheart that to make her feel better. Realistically though- unless an apprentice wants to train like a cat with one eye- I really don't think she should train another apprentice.
I sympathize for her- I really do- but she should be grateful she even got an apprentice. Some warriors are as fully qualified as any warrior yet only get one apprentice. A few still haven't had one yet.
Mentoring is a privilege, not a right. When as anyone said anywhere in the series that all warriors deserve at least one apprentice?

I'm stuck on picturing Birchfall as he was when he was younger, a sheep that wanted to lead, a little foolish, etc so in my mind he Ian really fit to be a mentor. However I'm pretty sure he has matured past this I'm just not remembering it all that much.
As for Brightheart, I agree she shouldn't get an apprentice unless they are visually impaired like her. As much as I'd love to see her as a mentor and think she'd be fabulous, I dont think it will happen.

My question is, when a leader deems that a cat isn't suited to having an apprentice, are they denying them the possibility of ever become deputy/leader?

Exactly. Bramblestar just picked the wrong mentor for Alderpaw. I get where he was going, seeing as they were both quiet and serious, but besides that they aren't too similar.

i don't know... i mean, i am no Brightheart fan, but i know that she would get really depressed if she didn't. and then it would make her ruin stuff. i don't know.

I think there should be a handicapped cat (like blind or something) she can train, because I want her to be a mentor.
