M O U N T A I N C L A N H O M E P A G E  "Oh for StarClan's sake." A long-legged brown and white cat stumbles into view. "Sorry, sorry. Hello! My name is Fritillarystone, I was a warrior and queen of MountainClan, many moons ago." She smiles and gestures around with her tail. "All of this territory is ours. We are a gentle, yet feisty folk. We love each other, but defend our land with honor and integrity." You look at the expansive, rolling hills that lay before you. Dotted with trees of all variety. Slashing through the tall, heavy mountains you see a cascading bubble-blue river, that flows into a large pond. A smile creeps onto your face as you realize, this is home. You are a MountainClan cat. S T O M P I N G G R O U N D S & I M P O R T A N T L O C A T I O N S  MountainClan cats live their lives on the side of, well, a mountain. They live inside a large cave next to the middle of a waterfall. The territory is dotted by trees, both coniferous and deciduous. The waterfall flows into a large pond and then splits off into multiple small streams. The territory is split into four quadrants - northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast. Starting in the northwest quadrant, there is a forest known as Cedar Crossing. This landmark is essentially a large forest filled with both coniferous and deciduous trees, perfect for hunting. In the northeast quadrant lies the Floating Turtle Pond, a large body of water that the waterfall flows into. It is a good place for water-battle training, swimming, and catching fish. It is named after the abundance of turtles found here. Also found in this quadrant are three dead trees in a cluster, growing in the center of the river called the Sleepy Pines. Moving on to the southwest quadrant, there exists a pathway of stones sticking up on the river. They are referred to as Heatstones because they get warm in the sunlight. Crossing these stones leads to the Training Grotto, a large open clearing surrounded by trees. Finally in the southeast quadrant are tall peaks and cliffs. The cliffs drop down into valleys, perfect for hunting. They are known as Coyote Cliffs because cats need to watch for coyotes as well as falling rocks. Inside the heart of Coyote Cliffs is the place where cats connect with StarClan, known as the Moonrock. C L I M A T E & S E A S O N The temperature is slowly getting colder, but it still never gets below freezing. The sun is normally shining in the sky, but the clouds may sometimes cover it.

T R A D I T I O N S & C U S T O M S N E S T M A K I N G
There is a tradition in MountainClan where cats create nests for each other to show their love. If one cat loves another, they craft a nest for their lover and gift it to them. These nests are crafted using all sorts of items including moss, leaves, weaved with ferns, and decorated with flowers and other beautiful plants.
B E R R Y P A I N T
Cats of MountainClan celebrate important milestones in their lives by using berries to paint their fur. Certain symbols in specific places represent different milestones. For kits, they are marked with yellow paint, made from bee pollen. A dot on the top of their muzzle is given when they speak their first words. A swipe of yellow paint on their forehead when they reach 6 moons of age and become a 'paw. For apprentices, they are marked with bluish-purple paint, made from smashed blueberries. They receive one dot on their flank for each of the following: first hunting kill, first mock battle won, passing their warrior knowledge assessment, and receiving their warrior name. Warriors are marked with red paint, made from rose petals and smashed red berries. They receive two lines on their shoulder when reaching senior warrior status, a claw mark on their chest if they become deputy, and a star on their cheek in they become leader.
V I S I T I N G T H E M O O N R O C K
All cats at some point in their lifetime will visit the Moonrock to speak with StarClan. The Moonrock is located inside the center of Coyote Cliffs in one of the valleys. It is a fantastic, glowing rock that the moonlight hits just right. Medicine cats visit the Moonrock to speak with StarClan when they need the advice or when the moon is full. Apprentices, before becoming warriors, must visit the Moonrock at some point as well as part of their assessment. To connect with StarClan, a cat touches their nose to the magnificent rock and closes their eyes. |

This tomcat, known as Cottonstar, has a mostly white body, but freckled with a rich mocha brown on his back, legs, and face. His eyes are light brown and shaped like ovals. He has long whiskers and a black button nose. Cottonstar is a good leader, but is often arrogant and cocky, making many decisions with haste.

| [ She-cat ] [ 53 moons ] [ Bisexual ] | With a thick coat and large yellow eyes with ears to match, Snowbird is one to look at. Her sweet, caring nature and curious personality make her a welcoming character to her Clan. She's often times spotted with feathers of various hues, mainly the same shade of grey as the rest of her coat. She has a lighter colored face, with darker paws and tail tip. Dark grey spots decorate her small stature along with patches of hair that are longer than the rest, often times sticking out like a sore thumb.

As a kit, Snowbird was always very dependent on her mother as she was the only kit in her litter. She was never privy to whom her father was, as the rest of the Clan was also in the dark. She has a long muzzle, long legs, and a long tail. Her eyes are two deep pools of emerald green, flecked in the irises of blue. Larchsight chose the path of a medicine cat to help her Clanmates. Another reason behind her path is that she is afraid to fight. She uses her position to get the gossip in the Clan, but also gets overly involved in most cases.

He has tabby markings and a patch of white on his stomach. There is a scar on his left-hind leg from a coyote attack. The attack left him with a limp, that sometimes has painful flare-ups; however, Beartuft's pure stubbornness tries to conceal the pain until he cannot hide it anymore. To his roots, Beartuft is a kind and approachable feline. He wants to help and nurture this clan - his clanmates. Yet on those varying dark days, in his core, he feels like a failure due to the limp. On such days, those thoughts poison him, and he is not himself, his kind disposure cracking and crumbling in front of his clanmates. His typical words turn from kind into sharp knives that cut.

From start to finish, Salmondwindle is an outwardly stunning cat, his saddle being a dull brown and his undercarriage being a stunning red, it all shining under the sunshine. He broke his tail as an apprentice, causing it to heal back slightly crooked.

In the sunlight, the ginger in her coat tends to shine bright; even though, it's truly soft and diluted shade. She has pale amber eyes. Sunchirp is a swift on her paws and makes for a great hunter; however, this molly cannot fish whatsoever. Sun is a warm-hearted feline. Happy thoughts is her motto and therefore, she is easily amused by almost everything. She is incredibly intelligent, not that she cares to show it to her clan.

| [ Tomcat ] [ 19 moons ] [ Asexual Demiromantic ] | Standing taller than most cats with limbs thin and lithe is a tom by the name of Lichensmother. He's a medium-haired brown bengal cat with large rosettes and a bobbed tail from an injury he endured at a very young age. Lichensmother has smaller triangle ears with dark tufts peeking over the ends. His eyes are wide and staring, a piercing hue of yellow adding to his already unnerving glare.

Lichensmother never truly had a great kithood, nor apprenticeship, due to his lack of relationship with his parents. He was not a Clan cat by heart, but after being abandoned by his parents, MountainClan took him in. H O P P E R L E A F
| [ Tomcat ] [ 18 moons ] [ Bisexual ] | Exotic looking tom with his brown-black bengal markings over his lighter golden brown fur. The bengal markings are darker along his legs and his face. He has vivid green eyes. Hopperleaf has big paws that lead up to a broad shoulders. In simplest of terms, Hopper is a sweetheart. This tom doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body and is genuinely kind. He's also an idiot with endless amount of energy. He is easily amused and wooed. Hopperleaf is incredibly loyal to his friends and thinks the world of them. Sometimes that bites him in the tail since his friends are somewhat questionable. He is a naïve tom, preferring to believe everyone is good.

| [ Non-Binary ] [ 15 moons ] [ Pansexual ] | Crowrider is a blue-pointed grey harley with blue eyes. The unique thing about their eyes is that around their pupil is a dark oak brown. Their coat is long and feathery, always messed up and fluffed out due to their reckless behavior. Their limbs are thick and stocky, muscles obvious even through their thick fur.

Gone are the days where his grey pointed coat was glistening, Silverbirch allows it to tangle and fluff out nowadays, not too bothered to deal with something he can no longer see. Lately, it seems like he cannot keep on weight and his slender form that used to looked elegant, now it just makes him seem sickly and weak. His pointed fur has tabby markings on his face, legs, & tail and his light blue eyes are hazy. He is blind.

Born into the clan, he had the typical family life with siblings. However; unlike his siblings, he stumbled into the path of medicine cat. He trained under Ravinesage, drove his mentor mad with his antics and his need to train to fight, along with learn herbs, he was very focused in this youth (still is). And like his mentor, he always envisioned being a medicine cat until he died. His plan died with a human poison that he stumbled upon collecting herbs. It was shock to his system, causing him to get very sick for a half-moon. It was miracle he didn't die but Silverbirch's sight was gone. He tried to keep on his medicine cat duties; but the sickness affected not only his sight but his sense of smell as well. It didn't help that he stubbornly left camp without any guidance, almost coming into a near death situation again. After that, Cottonstar forced him into retirement. Which he refuses to call it that and can still be seen often in the medicine cat, badgering Birchfog and Larchsight. | ➤ Silverbirch was mentored by Ravinesage

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather before me for a very special ceremony."
The familiar words rolled off of Cottonstar's tongue with a smile. Addressing the Clan, the staple of being the leader of MountainClan. The snow-white tomcat, dappled with brown flecks, stood tall with his chest puffed out. He beamed with pride as two kits - Broadkit and Sphagnumkit - offspring of the valued senior warrior, Foliageblossom - bounced on their paws with anticipation before him. Cottonstar's gaze swept the cave as he watched his Clan gather. He saw his brother, Ghostfrost, and the warriors, Aniseweb and Valerianear, sitting outside the tunnel to the warriors cave. Honeypaw and Wheatpaw, two apprentices watched where they sat next to their mother, Pochardstream.
Cottonstar started again, his words echoing throughout the cavern. "There are two kits here today that have reached the age of six moons and have earned their right to become MountainClan apprentices." He waved his tail, gesturing to the two kits in front of him. "Broadkit, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and obey your new mentor as an apprentice of MountainClan?" The little kit's eyes glowed before he stuttered out an "I do." Cottonstar bowed his head and smiled. "From now until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Broadpaw. You will be mentored by our deputy, Snowbird." The leader nodded in the direction of the grey-furred deputy. He then looked towards the next kit. "Sphagnumkit, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and obey your new mentor as an apprentice of MountainClan?" The thick-furred kit's whole body shook with fear, her eyes wide. "Yes, C..Cottonstar. I..I do." The words that she uttered were full of stutters and could barely be heard, but Cottonstar knew what she had said. "From now until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sphagnumpaw. Your mentor will be Hopperleaf." The two new apprentices bounced with excitement and their mother, Foliageblossom, beamed with pride, her eyes welling with tears of joy. "Well done, young ones. Now make your Clan proud!" |

Sunchirp with n/a mentions: Chanterellespore & Rowenfern ────────────────────────────────────
It wasn't typical that Sunchirp was awake this early in the day; however, with the excitement of the coming day made her feel the urge to rise early. She wondered who was going to mentor Broadkit and Sphagnumkit. Part of her wanted an apprentice, it could be fun and she liked fun, while the irresponsible side heavily shied away from the idea. Training a young cat to survive in this territory? Pffft.
Focusing her gaze back onto the rising sun, a purr escaped from Sunchirp's chest. It was going to be a good day, she could feel it. Her and Chanterellespore had already made plans to sunbathe in the afternoon by the waterfall. The only thing that could possibly ruin this day would be yet another lecture from Rowanfern.

The steady pitter-patter of raindrops had stopped just moments ago, the clouds parting the sky quickly to show the sun's bright rays. The warmth of the sun made its way into MountainClan's camp, the rocks happily soaking it up.
Sitting in the entrance to camp was none other than Crowrider. Their thick, feathery tail was wrapped tightly around their stocky paws, their blue gaze focused somewhere in the horizon. It was hard to tell what this harley was thinking about- it could be anything, really. They've always been the type to rise early and sleep late, never quite getting the right amount of sleep.
Crowrider was having a good time being sprayed by droplets, so the sudden stop and quick sunshine had definitely put a damper on their mood. "Foxdung," they cursed, their tail flicking at the tip in annoyance. They huffed and quickly got to their paws, shaking out their thick coat.
The ragdoll cat moved out of the entrance of camp, settling in the middle of the commons to start grooming. At least they were making an attempt to make themself look presentable for the day. Thankfully, today was one of their few days off. It gave them time to focus on themself and spend time with Hopperleaf until he had to go on patrol later on. |

Birchfog knew very well that Cottonstar would be announcing Broadkit and Spaghnumkit's apprenticeship today. It wasn't an exciting gathering for them specifically, but it was a milestone for the kits and the clan. The white and black feline listened and watched as the ceremony continued on.
It wasn't long until they noticed that Foliageblossom, the mother to the new apprentices, was tearing up. The cheers and emotions had died down as Broadpaw and Spaghnumpaw received their mentors. In Birchfog's mind, Hopperleaf was a tad too young to take on an apprentice. The tom had only become a warrior six moons ago, for StarClan's sake! There were plenty of warriors that would have been a better pick. For now, the medicine cat would have some hope in the bengal tom. Maybe his experience would prove to be fruitful.
Once the ceremony had ended, Birchfog made their way back to the medicine cat's den. They knew they would need to gather herbs soon, but it would be best to take Larchsight with. They stopped at the den's entrance, scanning the cavern for the young medicine cat. She has to be in camp, they thought with a frown. If Larchsight wasn't going to show up any time soon, they would go out their own.

Once the ceremony came to the end, she felt a bit conflicted on Cottonstar's choice of mentors. Obviously, Snowbird was a great option but Hopperleaf? In her opinion, he should have to wait a several moons before he would ever have an apprentice. Somehow and some way, Cottonstar believed he was capable of Spaghnumpaw.
Rowanfern padded away from the dispersing crowd and made her way towards the camp entrance. Maybe Sunchirp wasn't in camp after all. Before she could pad ahead any further, she noticed Crowrider. "Morning Crowrider," she mewed with a flick of her long, fluffy tail. "Have you seen Sunchirp by any chance? Snowbird knew that Cottonstar was soon going to start a meeting. The smaller she-cat wandered slowly over to the gathering area, her fluffy tail flicking back and forth as her large ears twitched. Watching the large white-and-brown tom walk to his resting point made her heart flutter just a tiny bit before she shook out her messy coat. Focus, Snowbird.
Hearing the words of their leader echo through camp, Snowbird sat tall and wrapped her ruffled tail around her dainty paws. She watched as Cottonstar appointed Broadpaw to her, bringing herself to her paws as she touched noses with the young apprentice. She simmered back down. She waited the rest of the ceremony out, nodding to Hopperleaf. He was a bit young to be a mentor, but if Cottonstar thought he was ready, then he was ready.
The small spotted she-cat brought herself to her feet after the Clan was dismissed, walking over to Foliageblossom to congratulate her and the new apprentices. After she flicked her tail in farewell, Snowbird turned back towards Cottonstar. She happily trotted towards the tom, her tail raised high and curved at the tip.
"Thank you for the ceremony, Cottonstar," she began, settling down in a sit. "Thoughts or plans for the rest of the day? I was thinking we could do a quick trip over to Turtle Pond since I've heard there's a snapper the size of two cats." |

Hopperleaf with Sphagnumpaw ────────────────────────────────────
Hopperleaf watched as Snowbird and Broadpaw, letting out a purr. Which got quickly cut off when his own name got called by Cottonstar. He blinked, twice and then he pushed himself to his paws. The young tom stumbled for a moment before he leaned forward to touch noses with Sphagnumpaw.
Butterflies were flickering his stomach. He could tell she was nervous... honestly, it was relatable, very relatable. His green gaze flickered away from her to glance at Cottonstar, was he sure? He could change his mind, maybe this was just a dream.

C R O W R I D E R ; C A M P[ Sand rowanfern ; mentions hopperleaf ]
Hearing Cottonstar's voice boom through camp, the harley had no other option than to pay attention. It was just an apprentice ceremony, nothing they really cared too much about. That was until they heard the name of their dear friend, Hopperleaf. They perked up at that, their blue gaze shifting to the bengal tom sitting in the crowd.
The ceremony didn't last long, but they didn't mind whatsoever. They stood up a moment to shake out their fluffy coat. They looked up to meet the gaze of Rowanfern.
"Oh! Good morning Rowanfern," they said, bowing their head to the older warrior. "Sunchirp? I think I saw her leave camp right after the rain stopped," they meowed uncertainly. |

Aww, new apprentices! A staple of the Clan! A smile split open the ginger tabby she-cat's muzzle as Larchsight remembered her naming ceremony when she became an apprentice. She knew right away that she wanted to heal the Clan and become a medicine cat. Not only did she want to heal the Clan, but Larchsight did not want to fight. She did not want to be the one to draw blood on purpose. Even eating prey was a hard pill to swallow because she knew these creatures had once been alive and thriving, maybe even had a family. But she also knew she needed to eat to survive, so she did. The ginger tabby turned her gaze away from the newly appointed apprentices and towards her mentor, Birchfog. Larchsight had just caught the tail-end of them heading into the medicine den, so she followed suit.
"Birchfog! Can you believe it? New apprentices! How exciting!" Her voice was cheerful and giggly as she spoke, but she remember to tone it down in front of her mentor. Birchfog was..sometimes hard to read. But Larchsight knew that her gleefulness was something they were not the most fond of. "Do we need to collect some herbs? I remember seeing some tansy in abundance near Sleepy Pines."

New apprentices. Fresh eyes to watch the Clan for danger. Fresh paws to hunt prey for everyone. Cottonstar loved naming new 'paws and especially naming new warriors. They are what makes MountainClan strong and protected. The snow-white furred leader huffed to himself as he watched his Clan disperse. He noticed his deputy, Snowbird, coming towards him.
"Ah yes, Snowbird. Your second apprentice. You did well in training Crowrider. I expect nothing less of excellence when training Broadpaw." Cottonstar dipped his head at her, his tail waving behind him. "Floating Turtle Pond has a big snapper, you say? Well, I MUST see this for myself. Plus, I could use a good walk to stretch my legs." The leader had been cooped up in the camp cave discussing the scent of fox found by one of the border patrols the entire day before. He needed the fresh air.

An apprentice? Already? Holy StarClan. The small cream-and-white she-cat known now as Sphagnumpaw was feeling so many different emotions. Bewildered, nervous, excited. They all swirled together in the pit of her belly, like a flutter of a butterfly's wings. She stopped herself from shaking like a leaf and touched noses with Hopperleaf. He's young, but I'm sure he's capable. Cottonstar wouldn't have chosen him to be my mentor if he wasn't capable. Right? Oh StarClan, I hope he isn't trying to see me fail. I want to be a warrior. A brave, courageous warrior, just like dad. Her father, Hardwoodstep, had died in a fight with a deadly adder, only a few moons ago. Sphagnumpaw looked at her brother, Broadpaw, and then at their mother, Foliageblossom. I just want to make mom and dad proud. The small she-cat looked back at her mentor. "S..so H..Hopperleaf, where should we start? Hunting? Fishing? BATTLE TRAINING?"
As nervous as she was, Sphagnumpaw wanted to show that she too was capable. She wanted to learn everything. Master every battle move, catch every type of prey, perfect fishing techniques. She was more than ready. |

Rowanfern glanced at the blue point feline before her as her tail curled around her paws. She didn’t mind Crowrider Boeing their head to her at all. If anything, it made her feel appreciated. With a small grin, she listened to the harley.
Of course Sunchirp had left camp. It was no surprise to the pale ginger and white tabby, but it irked her. Scoffing, she tried to not roll her amber eyes. ”She left camp already?” she mewed, letting out a sigh of frustration.
What could Rowanfern do at this point? She had no idea where Sunchirp would have gone off to, but she certainly didn’t want to waste her day looking for her. The warrior had things to do and finding her sister would be one of them. But… not right now. ”Are you going to spend time with Hopperleaf and Spaghnumpaw?” she asked.
Birchfog — medicine cat den - accompanied by: Larchsight
Birchfog knew that Larchsight had approached behind them as they could hear her pawsteps. They liked Larchsight, but her personality was a bit… too much. Unlike themself, they were impersonal and determined to do their job perfectly.
In the white and black feline’s opinion, new apprentices were just that— new apprentices. Sure, they were the new generation of the clan and the future for MountainClan. Otherwise they didn’t think much else of it. It was a normal, simple ceremony.
”So exciting,” Birchfog commented sarcastically. Their tone became flat as they mused aloud. ”I suppose the clan is growing. MountainClan has plenty of warriors and apprentices to help for many moons.”
The medicine cat’s ears pricked up at the sound of tansy. It seemed that Larchsight was back on track. ”Yes, we are out of tansy,” they confirmed before adding, ”We could always grab any herbs in the vicinity of Sleepy Pines. Some burdock would be useful. What do you think?”
