Percy »
Soft snow covered the ground in a pristine layer. It was thick and fluffy and in perfect condition, not a single snowflake out of order among its brethren.
That is, until Percy placed his paws atop the blanket of snow and pressed his weight down.
The snow gave way with a sharp crunch, his paws sliding deeper into the winter landscape than he had expected. A shiver of both cold and surprise ran up his spine, his teeth clattering against one another. "I'd say!" He shot back to Smoke upon hearing the gray tom's words. Percy's fur fluffed out against his body in hopes of keeping in all the warmth that he had. If it weren't for the hunger that growled in his stomach the odds of Percy staying in his den today, curled up and warm, were rather high. Then again, he wasn't out here just for food. He was out here for Smoke. For the starry cats. For the puma. He had a task to see through, a promise that he needed to uphold. There was nothing more that he wanted to do than to help Smoke accomplish his goals. And Percy wanted to know more about these Clans. His curiosity was vast and needed to be filled before he could settle down. Cold or no cold, he was going to get a pawstep closer to learning the truth.
Gray skies up above spoke of more snow on the way. A faint breeze carried through the trees, merely a whisper rather than a shout. That was promising, at least. It meant the next snowfall wasn't quickly approaching, and it also meant that there wasn't as harsh a chill in the air as there could be. It also gave Percy hope that there would be some prey out and about, rushing to get in as much food as they could before more snow covered the forest.
Even though Percy was trekking through freezing temperatures to seek out a puma, his cheerfulness remained. One look at Smoke told the ginger tom that his companion was worried, probably burdened with the thoughts of a failed hunt. Or weighed down by thoughts of not finding the answers they sought. Either way, Percy gave his newfound friend a comforting smile. "Yeah. Maybe we'll find a squirrel or two," he purred, continuing on through the snow covered forest, keeping an eye out for any prey tracks that would lead them to a warm breakfast.
Creamsicle »
Slowly, ever slowly, the events of yesterday were coming back to her in a flash of colors and an array of sounds. She had been crouched under a bush, starving and cold, when a cat had approached her. A cat who had shared her squirrel and then offered her warmth. After the meal and a nap she had followed the cat out of the forest and across the wide open moor until they had sheltered in the depths of a burrow full of memories. It was all coming back to her as she blinked the sleep out of her eyes, how she no longer had her siblings or her mother. She didn't even have her home anymore, but she had one thing out of all this. And that one thing was Cotton.
The ticked tabby appeared moments after Creamsicle called out for her mother. While Cotton wasn't her mother, Creamsicle had already decided that Cotton was like a mother to her. The old molly was caring and considerate, a beacon of hope and light in the dreariness that the kit had experienced in the last few days. If that wasn't what a mother was, then Creamsicle had to reevaluate her thoughts on mothers, and she didn't feel like doing that.
With a purr, the cream and white kit bounded up toward Cotton, ramming her little body into the older feline's legs and rubbing against her. "Hi, Cotton. Was your sleep good?" That was something her and her siblings had always asked one another after waking up. Mostly it was to figure out if any of the kits had had interesting dreams or not, and if so, what those dreams were about, but it was always just a nice, simple way of making sure everybody had slept well. Sleep was important, even if there had been times when Creamsicle didn't want to go to sleep but was forced to by her mother anyway.
Doing things she didn't want to do wasn't something she had to think about right now. Instead, she just had to focus on Cotton's reply. As she waited she continued to lean up against the ticked tabby, purring forcefully as the old molly's presence gave Creamsicle a sense of peace that she hadn't had in some time now.

Wila »
Chai flashed in Wila’s mind as a thought concerning the Bombay tom came to her. It was the last thing she wanted to do, why her thoughts kept centering back to him was a nuisance in and of itself, but she was stuck with it like a thorn was to fur. She wondered how he would feel about going outside in the snow to hunt, but as quickly as the thought had made itself clear the molly just as quickly shook her head and snorted. What an absurd thought! Chai was more than content with staying inside the house all day where the humans prepared meals for him. Had Wila even brought up the idea of traveling outside he would have looked at her with large concerned eyes and asked if she needed to be taken to the vet. He doesn’t understand what fun is, the brown molly thought scornfully before glancing back toward the cat she was with.
Affection ran warm through her veins, cutting through the chill that spread through the air. Flame’s ginger pelt was already a comforting sight, familiar to the molly. They had only known one another for a little over a day, but Flame was a cat that Wila wanted around and actually wanted to be with. There was still a lot she had to learn about him and a lot he had to learn about her, but Wila was hopeful that things would continue as they had and their friendship would blossom into something amazing.
Flame’s voice snapped Wila out of her thoughts. She nodded her agreement to his suggestion. Hunting wasn’t her expertise, but Flame did have a good point. Her pelt was much closer to the colors of the environment than Flame’s was, especially with the layer of snowfall that covered the ground. Wila could only imagine how the pine forest looked without snow. Dark and shadowy with only the smallest hints of dappled sunlight. She’d blend into the scenery as if she had been born and raised in the pines. It was comforting to think about. And it was a confidence booster. If any kittypet could catch prey out here, it was her.
The house cat flicked her tail in a silent gesture to Flame, signaling that she was heading off. Trying to be as quiet as possible Wila made her way to the other side of the thick pines, hoping that Flame would be able to track something down and hoping that she’d be able to catch it.
Solomon »
Solomon curled his lip at the idea of being a kittypet. He couldn’t imagine wanting to live that sort of life, where everything he did was dictated by twolegs. The ticked tabby was a wild cat by birth and a wild cat at heart. He was meant to be part of the outside world, no matter how dreary the world got. Even when he had stayed with the barn cats for a while Solomon had steered clear of the twolegs whenever they came around, and he had never touched the dry pellets of food they tossed out in the barn. The mice scuttling about in the hay had been enough for him.
There were times when Solomon had contemplated how easy his life would be if he gave the wild up and went to live with twolegs. He’d be fed every day, he’d be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. He wouldn’t have to worry about a stronger cat coming into his territory and driving him out. But that wasn’t the life he wanted. Those comforts sometimes sounded tempting, but Solomon knew he wouldn’t be able to handle it. He’d go mad with boredom. Outside was where he belonged, and outside was where he’d stay.
It wasn’t long before the trees began to thin and the outlines of twoleg nests appeared. Solomon paused in his steps, drawing in a deep breath of the cold air. Twoleg and kittypet scent drenched the area, drowning out even the watery cold smell of snow. ”Which way is your twoleg nest?” He asked Apple as he glanced from the right, the left, and then to the middle. Apple’s home could be anywhere in the maze of twolegplace. Solomon would rather know the direction now than wait until later only to realize that they had been going the wrong way the entire time.

ooooo, i'd totally be down for that! i do think it would take some time for wila to decide on whether or not she'd want to leave her kittypet life. she'd want to be with flame, but giving up the life she's always known would be hard for her, so getting a dream from ambergaze would really help push her decide and would make for a really cool interaction!
the clans dispersed due to a sickness that was new to the clans. it had no known cure or remedy and as more and more cats died. i've got it written down that only two original clan cats survived, but that can always be adjusted as we go along ~

Yeah, I read that cause I totally forgot there was a write up on the first page 😅 but maybe have it that those two were the final that like stayed? Others either died or left, and since no one saw them again they figured they’d died? I’m thinking Ambergaze left before she got sick because she knew she was going to have kits and didn’t want them to get sick, so she headed off and then found that life alone was too hard, so found a Twoleg to take her in.
Any cats you have set as some of the stragglers? Starting to write a little one-shot of sorts and need some names to name drop lol

that all makes sense yeah! i'm sure quite a few cats from each Clan left before they succumbed to the sickness as well, probably a lot of queens and kits and possibly their mates as well
i know Whisper has a Dewstar as Smoke's ancestor. whether he stayed until the very end or died before the clans completely fizzled out, im not sure. Whisper could probably answer that as for some other cats, i dont have a set list thought up but i can easily come up with names and whatnot

thanks for the well wishes everyone! my body definitely needs the time to recover, i am thankfully back home but my energy still hasn’t returned much and i’m very sore(i ended up having to get surgery done)
also^ to chime in to you alls discussion, some cats could be related very distantly. but then again none of our written up descendant cats comes close to kuta😅 maybe pumaheart but making it that a few more cats escaped the sickness also could work.
regarding dewstar, i have him as a very distant almost ancient relative to smoke. i think for smoke’s ancestory stemmed from his great(maybe twice) grandparent, the mother/father before cinders mother. just to keep up the story of his den being used for healing for many cats passed on by the generation

Yeah, if you want to get a list of a few cats from each clan that I can namedrop, I’m writing it starting with a few days after the Clans come together, having it that they have a makeshift sort of camp together somewhere. And yeah, Ambergaze is gonna leave early cause I’m having it that she lost her mom, sister, and mate to the disease so she peaces out early. whispering glad you’re feeling better! Hope you get healed up quickly! Take your time, health comes first, so get all the rest you need!

take all the time you need, whisper! surgery is rough and recovery takes time. take it easy c': yeah yeah, i'll probably change it so that a few more cats stayed until the very end so we get a bit more diversity from that
that makes sense yeah!

WonderLocation: Barn (roof) With: Boz ( soot ) When Boz offered shelter from the cold, Wonder quickly began to decline. "No, I-" Another gust of icy wind interrupted her before she could finish, the cold nearly reaching her bones. "Well um... If you really don't mind, perhaps I will." She stood and padded lightly over to Boz's makeshift windbreaker. She hovered nearby for a moment. "Right here?" she inquired quietly. Once she had affirmation, she sat down in the open space beside Boz, making sure to leave at least a little bit of space between them. She peered up at the rag that fluttered in the occational gust. He was right. The rag did it's job well in keeping out the wind. "Did you make this?" she asked nearly at the same time he asked his question. She glanced over as she mewed, meeting his sparkling gaze and noting the tilt of his head. Wonder's ears tilted back in embarrassment and she let out a soft churr akin to a giggle. "Sorry. Ah-hah. The river, you said?" Wonder started to shake her head, her eyes widening a little in that way that kits did when they heard about something that they had never seen. A bit of awe. A bit of fear. She had only heard stories about the river and other things beyond the farm from some of their barnmates. "No. I've never been there," she admitted, looking out into the distance again, scanning the shadowed and silvered lands for something that would resemble running water. It was hard to see from the barn since it was on the other side of the moor. On the other paw, some of the marsh was visible from the barn. It was more shadowed than the land around it, harder to see in the dark, though there were some surfaces that picked up the moonlight in amongst the shadows. "Have you?"

Bozw/ Wonder (Light ) Location // The Barn's RoofBoz followed Wonder's gaze diligently as the molly spoke, his idea churning in his head. It would be a very, well, plain stupid idea. But- well, he figures with the way Wonder is reacting, that she'd like it. Boz doesn't really get to show many cats places they've never been, cause he's always following rather than leading. And he.. uh, doesn't really talk too much with others in the barn besides necessity, so the opportunity to show somecat a new place they'd like? He almost blurts out the question a bit too quickly before even answering hers. His green eyes sparkle a tad as he shifts his gaze, looking up just a tad toward the moon. "I managed to get the cloth to stay by catching it on some of those tiny, metal pointy things the twolegs use." He meows, adjusting his paws as he looks to the multicolored cloth. "It holds pretty sturdily." He adds, tail flicking. He's been to the river very often, along nearly the entire thing, Lada once took him on a walk along it, looking for fish, though neither of them caught any. Lada's more of a bird hunter than a, uh, fish catcher. Though she's good at snatching any frogs they see along their walks. Sometimes when he stares out across the moors, the river in view, he can almost swear he sees an oddly familiar silhouette. He doesn't get his hopes up. "I've seen it more than a few times, uh, my.. family takes me along it, and over it quite a lot. We go place to place pretty often, if you didn't notice." He says with a small hint of amusement. He's sure she's noticed, she's an observer like Spackle, if a bit less- uh, no offence of course, but she's less socially adept than Spackle. Though to be fair, most are. Setting his tail in the small space between them, he decides... she'll probably decline anyway, so why not just ask? He hesitates for a moment, eyes furrowing and his tongue holding before he finally speaks, keeping his gaze on Wonder's own eyes. "Would you like to see it?"

(Boz is a good little dude, but he's also the kind of cat to, very rarely, wander off cause he's curious about something. Not often mind you! But Spackle will turn around and his child is poof, lol.)

CottonLocation: Moor (Cotton’s Den) With: Creamsicle ( Feathertalon ) Creamsicle came bounding over, causing Cotton to take a step back as the kit rammed against the old molly's legs. The kitten then began to rub against her and wind between her legs. She couldn't bring herself to admonish the kit for the sudden affection. Years of longing for the one thing she couldn't have had left deep cracks in her very being~ like a plant that became dry in the absence of water. But with every touch from this kit, the cracks seemed to soften and the pain began to fade. Cotton felt a reciprocating rumbling purr well up in her own throat, affection flickering in her yellow gaze. When Creamsicle came winding back around her front paws, Cotton bent down her head and snuck in a quick but affectionate lick on the kit's head. "I slept well. How about you?" She wasn't about to bother the kit with the dreams she would sometimes have. It had already been dealt with as she always did, and right now~ here with Creamsicle, everything felt all right. --- WonderLocation: Barn (roof) With: Boz ( soot ) "Oh wow. That's really smart. I never would have thought of that," Wonder meowed, genuinely impressed as she peered up at the edges of the rag. It was too difficult to see how it connected in the dark, but she could see where it stuck to the side and believed that what he said was right. She looked back at him when he spoke of his journeys to the river. He wasn't lying when he told her that they travelled often. She had often seen them come and go from the barn, but she had never known exactly where they went. The only hints she would get were from snippets of conversations she overheard. She noticed his tail fall in between them, then looked up to notice him staring directly at her. Her heart gave a panicked thump and flop. Just what can he see? It feels like he can see into my very being. She blinked as he asked his question, her ears perking, then pulling back a little. He had inquired about it earlier as if it was quite the sight to see. I do want to see it. I really do. But... "Isn't it dangerous? The river is pretty far, right?" she asked quietly, fear dancing in her soft green gaze. She couldn't help but imagine all the frightening creatures and dangers that could hide from them under the darkness of night. ~ (Wonder is like the opposite. She's like a shut-in who is barely brave enough to go to the edge of the farm. XD The outside world is a scary place. Boz might be a good influence on her. ;3)

BIG BIG SORRY I DIED - work has been very busy it's exhausting I will have time to do replies in the morning!! the way Savannah cats are bred leaves Kuta as likely being distantly related on his father's side (im pretty sure I said his mother was serval but I'd have to check), since the f1 generation is a domestic cat bred with a serval, and there's no breed restrictions when it comes to first generation off spring - this is entirely something I considered when I brought my sweet dummy in c: How many generations out are we from the clans last remaining cats?

Vixen -- The Marsh | With Lotus - whispering Honor was a useless concept as far as Vixen was concerned. One had to do any number of things if it meant surviving. There was no sense in troubling oneself with ‘honor’ if it would get in the way of seeing another sun rise. Despite their words, they couldn’t care less how the molly had obtained the hare. Still, she went on to explain herself a bit, to which they offered a low hum. “I’m sure it didn’t – rather unintelligent things, foxes.” They detested their namesake for it, but it was the name that had stuck through kithood. It was the only name they knew. Unfortunately, they were too stubborn to give it up.
Dumb mutts, indeed. Well, at least she’d done well to cover it up, using the marsh’s notoriously and perpetually went earth to cover up the scent. It lingered vague, as if an after thought to her actions. He had to focus to even pick the scent out, so surely all would be well. Physically, that is.
It seemed he was getting under her skin judging by the way irritation all but crackled in the space between them. That hadn’t been the feline’s intention, truly it hadn’t been. Getting on others’ nerves with carefully selected words was like an innate skill of theirs, one that they couldn’t necessarily turn off. Although, that was likely due to the fact that they never cared to try. Vixen had no intention of letting any cat get close enough to truly see him, so it didn’t matter much if they didn’t take a liking to them. On top of that, it was admittedly fun to see the reactions they could garner. Was it wrong to find pleasure in upsetting others? Yes, it was, but they didn’t care. They were happy and that’s what mattered.
“A blow is a blow the same as a meal,” the ruddy cat replied evenly, noting the way her claws unsheathed. “There’s no shame to be had, of course – I’m sure it was a lucky hit, no?” After all, she’d been busy securing a meal. As much as they wanted to continue, see how far her reactions could be pushed, she’d made herself rather clear. She had no issues finishing anything that got started, and Vixen was no fool. In a match of strength alone, she’d have them beat.
As Lotus went on to dismiss their words with sarcasm, they couldn’t help the quiet, amused chuff that escaped them. Many would’ve lashed out by now, or even go as far as to end his little games by walking away abruptly. The molly persisted, though, matching them word for word. She seemed well practiced when it came to metering her reactions – they liked that. While they wouldn’t go so fair as to say they could be companions of any kind, they wouldn’t mind coming across her again. Parting their jaws to reply, the cat paused as the sound of movement in the grass caught their ear. The two rogues had surely gone the other way, hadn’t they. Scenting the air, a slight frown worked its way across their muzzle as they stood. “Fox.”
(I wasn’t sure exactly where you wanted to take it, if there’s injuries or they run or whats up so I left it hereeee)
Binx -- The Barn, Before the Storm | With Alice - Feathertalon While she’d be staying for a least a day, part of her wondered what it was like to live on the farm. What was it like living with other animals that could help support you? Living alone was perfectly fine. Binx never had to worry about provide for anyone other than herself, and whatever space she resided in was hers and hers alone. She relied on herself and herself alone. At the same time, it could get pretty lonely. If she wanted any contact with any other cat, she had to go out of her way to get it. Stars forbid if she got sick, she’d have no way to fend for herself, let alone survive if the illness was severe enough. If the two legs were as hands off as she said, perhaps it wasn’t so bad. Maybe some of the cats just ignored them. The dogs, though. How did one adjust to the dogs?
It didn’t matter, surely she wasn’t staying. She’d only be here a night or two, nothing more. The weather would clear up, and she would cross the fields back to the pine forest. Nothing more, nothing less. So she followed after the tortoiseshell molly, eyes flickering around her surroundings as it steadily grew darker. The structure had seemed huge on the outside, but somehow it seemed even bigger on the inside. No matter how far back they went, it just kept going. Did all the animal stay in here? It would only make sense given all the room there was. Plus it was warm, much more so than anything she could find outside.
Before long Alice had stopped, the black molly nearly walking right into her when she had. Narrowly avoiding a collision, Binx came up beside her, orange eyes landing on the indicated pile. She hadn’t been expecting something so well stocked. Still, she nodded, setting the hawk alongside everything else. As soon as her mouth was clear of any stray feathers, she asked, “Will the other animals come in for the storm, too? Would they all fit in here?” She saw no sense in trying to further mask her curiosity. It was beyond obvious that this was all new to her, and the other didn’t necessarily seem bothered by her questions. Surely she would say when it was too much.

Light I mean, since Adderpaw’s an apprentice, it wouldn’t be that far off to have it like that. I mean, my girl Nala lived to be 19, so like, indoor cats have vastly longer lives. Honestly, I’m debating having Cinder maybe still be alive, but she is a few generations removed from Flame (she had kits early, her kits had kits early, and so on)

Yeah like Running said, I feel like that timeline works well!
I’m thinking for Pumaheart she’s descendent from Goldenweb and Peatshadow, or maybe even Goldenweb and Pineclaw after the Clans combined and from that pair the naming system and traditions were fairly well preserved Star and Comet may also have some clan ancestry since I have somewhat of a backstory for them, but maybe from a cat that left the clans before the merge - a little before Ambergaze left

Creamsicle »
It was true that Cotton was not Splash, and she never would be, but the old molly was all that Creamsicle had now. She knew she would never see her littermates again, and it was probable that something had happened to her mother as well. Fate had been cruel to her, tearing her apart and leaving her for the buzzards, but then fate had changed its mind and cast a smile upon her, leading her to find Cotton. Or leading Cotton to find her. Either way, the kit was safe under the tabby’s watchful, wise gaze. The kit realized just how lucky she was to be in the position she was now, for if not for Cotton she wouldn’t have lived to see this day.
None of her littermates would ever experience another sunrise. The dream from last night had been a bitter reminder of that. For all the joy she had rubbing against Cotton, it was dampened ever so slightly with the burden of her dreams. The young molly’s tail drooped as the images flashed through her mind. The struggles of escaping the stream tugged at her limbs while the terror of crossing the thunderpath burned her paw pads. Orange’s shriek of pain as he was crushed echoed in her mind, reminding her yet again of the rabbit that had suffered before the final blow. Creamsicle shuddered. Had Orange been in pain before dying?
A moment of contemplation ran through Creamsicle’s mind. Should she tell Cotton of her dream last night? A part of her wanted to tell the ticked tabby, but just the thought of forming those words hung tight in her throat. Even if she wanted to she knew her body wouldn’t let her. Maybe one day it would.
The kit shook herself before looking back up to Cotton. Her purrs had grown quieter but still tickled at her throat. ”I got a lot of sleep,” she remarked, her words not a lie. Despite the dream Creamsicle had managed to get more rest than she had gotten in a while.
She then switched gears, eager to get an answer for her next question. ”What are we doing today? Did it snow a lot?” Creamsicle pulled herself away from Cotton to bound over to the chamber’s exit. She quivered as she looked out toward the burrow’s opening, vaguely making out a hint of watery light pouring in. While that was a telltale sign the morning was here, it wasn’t enough to ascertain that more snow had fallen throughout the night or not, and Creamsicle was eager to find out.
Alice »
The question made sense for an outsider to ask. Knowing that Binx wasn’t from the barn made the question all the more innocent, though it did spark a hint of amusement deep within Alice. It was a question she had heard asked before, but from a kit rather than an adult cat. Not that Binx was acting as if she were a kit - no, she just didn’t know the barn and how it worked. She was new to all this, so such questions were to be expected.
Alice shook her head in answer. ”They won’t. The dogs might come inside to wait it out, but the twolegs will let them go into their den if the weather gets real bad. There are stables for the horses, but the cows typically don’t mind staying outside even in the snow.” Alice didn’t mess with the other animals all that much. They were harmless for the most part, but she had heard stories of and had known a cat or two that had been around the cows and horses when something had frightened them. Cats were terribly injured and oftentimes killed under the powerful hooves of the livestock animals. Other than staying away for her safety, the cattle and horses just didn’t offer much. They were incredibly simple minded and only cared about where the next patch of grass was. ”The sheep and goats have their own place to go as well. Truth be told, this barn is mostly for us cats and where the twolegs store the hay for the other animals. If the other animals get in here then they’ll end up eating all the hay.” Keeping cows and horses and everything else around had always seemed like more work than it was worth to Alice, but twolegs didn’t make much sense to her. She lived on twoleg territory, but that didn’t mean she understood them.
While Binx was in the right to ask more questions than not, Alice found it only fair when she herself tossed a question out to the black molly. ”Have you ever lived with other cats before? Outside of your mother and littermates, that is.” It would be interesting to know whether or not Binx had any experience being around other cats that weren’t just her immediate kin. Alice assumed Binx had been on her own since she had been old enough to leave her mother’s side. Most cats didn’t live together beyond a certain age. Being a cat was a solitary lifestyle for the most part, but here at the barn, that was quite different.
