Prologue:
"I believe that's everything!" The mottled tom said to himself, scooping his bag onto his back before walking in the sandy environment. The leather bag contained many items such as, herbs, what is presumed to be potions, and other strange junk. His paws created a paw track, as the grainy sand stuck onto his fur. The cat seemed to be happy yet calm, a wide smile appearing on his face. The tom wore an amulet that guided him throughout the barren lands with a ruby in the middle of it. It's glow spread as far as the eye could see. Who is this cat you may be wondering? A young tom who goes by the name Sol.
The breeze ran across the pelt as the moon's light shone onto Sol. It was a very peaceful night, with the prey running free and the sky being clear, what could ruin this night? Sol took a deep breath in before sighing, "First night as guardian, and not a single awful thing has happened to me." Though he felt guilty. His first job as guardian was to protect a crystal that kept something evil inside of it. Something that his mentors never brought up. He usually shrugged it off, never giving a thought to it. If his teachers never cared for it, why should he care? Sol then shook his head before making a stern face. He shouldn't feel guilty, nothing is going to happen, he wasn't gone for that long. A rush of excitement would flow through his veins as the tom's yellow eyes set across him home, the Moon Hill. A giant, rocky lump that was covered in long vines and plants. It had cracks in the stones, yet it was smooth as a cat's pelt. A sudden burst of energy came across Sol as he bolted across the territory towards the mountains.
Wide eyes and a joyful grin formed as his face as the mottled cat lifted his head up to the sky. He felt amazing, great, and happy. It felt like he was finally free. Like he was his own person. Only if his mother gave him that feeling...But now is not the time to mope about that past. Now is the time to be happy for what tomorrow will bring. At least, that's what Sol thinks. Sol quickly gained speed as he leaped onto a rock before climbing his way up.

Sol grunted once he reached the top, pulling himself forward. He looked to be exhausted, drooling at the side of his mouth. The tom then stood up on his paws, and shook the sand off of him, a couple of leaves falling out of the bag while doing so. Sol paused for a moment, collecting his thoughts, before continuing the path The tall cat slowly closed his eyes as he listened to the environment around him. At first, everything sounded calm. The melody of the wind played throughout the hills, the animals chirping in the night, and of course, the sound of Sol's feet padding on the ground. Sol felt relaxed, safe even. Nothing looked, or sounded out of the ordinary to Sol. That's what he thought at first. But, as he continued on, he smelled something that caught his attention. Sol stopped in his tracks and investigated the scent more. A familiar smell that made a shiver down his spine. Blood... That's when Sol heard it, a sound that made the guardian open his eyes and panic. Screaming. The sounds of screaming filled the air as he heard loud yowls through the air.
Filled with guilt and panic, Sol sprinted down the path and up towards the entrance of the Moon's Eye. His breath became short, his soaked paws leaving a trail of blood behind the frightened tom. No, no, no! This can't be happening! Sol thought to himself, now grinding his teeth. Sure, his mentors showed little care to a situation like, but they did say if this were to happen ; it would lead to great chaos to the mortals on the living plane. That's what they assumed, though. The mottled cat skidded onto his paws as he took a few steps back, hiding behind a rock. Sol peaked his head around the corner as his eyes widened at the sight he was seeing. There were...cats. But, they were transparent, and their pelts were mostly colored in a blueish-green color. It can't be them, can it? Oh, the great Star Angels forgive me. Sol gulped as he took a few pawsteps forward before crawling into a tunnel that he dug up for emergencies like this.
Once he got out of said tunnel, his heart dropped at the sight he was seeing. There was blood dripping on the walls, guts spilled everywhere, and most disturbing of all, the corpses of his mentors, Midnight and Rock. One a badger, the other one a hairless cat. Tears started to fall from his eyes as Sol approached the dead guardians, and hunched over Rock. His sobs were quiet yet loud. "I'm sorry...I've failed you. I...I-" "Go..." A gasp could be heard from inside the cover. Sol sniffled as he stared at Rock in shock. "You're still alive?! But, how?" Sol questioned him. "Just go. Take the shards of the crystal sphere, and save yourself." Rock wheezed. Sol only replied with a nod as he dashed to a body of water, and scooped the remaining pieces into the brown bag on his back. The tom then dashed out of the cave with tears in his eyes, managing to get past the demon cats.
"Oh, Star Haven. What have I done?" Sol said as he ran off into the distance.
