Cloverpaw's ears perked up at the sound of her offer. "Oh really? You do that? That sounds like it would be fun!" He exclaimed, his tail swishing side-to-side from excitement. The tom was hoping Goldensplash wouldn't mind. Surely he wouldn't, especially if he had already gathered a few things today. As soon as he spotted the camp enterance, he ran forward in front of Shimmerpelt. "I'll put these away quickly!" He called over his shoulder, making a beeline for the Seer's den. Once he entered, he took a few minutes to organize what he had gathered before reappearing from the den. He glanced around camp, noticing that camp was starting to get more busy.

Shimmerpelt purred seeing how excited he was. It was soothing in a way. She never had time to lay back and let her guard down, let alone take time out for the things she enjoyed. Maybe I should spend more time with the youth. She thought as she pushed her way through the entrance. Her green eyes scanned over the clearance. Things were looking fine. Cats were beginning to move around and began their activities for the day. Maybe one day of her absence would be fine. Besides, they had the Water Sage and Goldensplash. At least there would be some authoritative figure around to make sure things didn't get too out of hand. She snapped out of her thoughts when she saw Cloverpaw reemerge from the Seer's den. Her mind at ease seeing the little tom again. There were no cats she considered her friend or thought she was close to. Maybe her mentor but they had more of a business relationship. Even the Water Sage thought she could be a bit uptight at times. But Cloverpaw was different, he was receptive- eager to learn. She admired it. "You ready to go?" Shimmerpelt mewed as he neared.

The young tom nodded as he got closer. "Yep, ready whenever you are," Cloverpaw meowed. He glanced around camp one last time before slowly making his way towards the camp enterance. He couldn't believe he was actually about to learn how to swim. That and that she was willing to teach him basic guardian training in the near future. He was too lost in thought that he didn't realize he was a few tail-lengths in front of Shimmerpelt. He slowed his pace a little, smiling at her. "Sorry, you should probably lead the way. I know we're going to the beach, but I don't know if you have a specific spot you like."

Shimmerpelt chuckled, quickening her pace to a trot in order to catch up with him. "What's on your mind, you're excited?" She asked, taking the lead to make her way to the beach. "Today, I'll just take you to the reef, and we'll stay in the shallows." The gray she-cat instructed, her voice strong and knowledgeable. Shimmerpelt had never trained anyone before, but she had some ideas. She instructed patrols all the time and she had some memory of her own swim training. It couldn't be that hard. "We'll start by letting you get used to the waves, and floating in the waves. And if we time today, we'll wade a little further into the shallows to try to swim a little." The reef was a beautiful section of the ocean. She was sure Cloverpaw would also enjoy looking at all the fish and the coral.

Cloverpaw nodded. "Yes, I'm very excited! I've only ever been belly deep before, but I've never been in the ocean," he mewed, glancing at her with his ears slightly flattened. The thought of just stepping in the ocean made him nervous but he wasn't about to let that ruin his fun. Besides, he wanted to see what Shimmerpelt liked so much about the beach. He shook the thought away. There was no way the Waiting Sage would let anything happen to him. "The reef?" He tilted his head to one side. He heard other cats in the clan talk about that, but he's never seen it before. "That sounds like fun! I've always wanted to see why everyone talks about it."

"Yes, I'm sure you'll love it. It's one of the many beautiful places on the island." Shimmerpelt purred, looking back at Cloverpaw once more. She enjoyed seeing how excited he was. The extra bounce added to his steps. It reminded her of herself at his age, before her life took a turn. "I was just as excited as you the first time I was brought here." Being a puddle guardian seemed so far away. She couldn't remember the last time she felt so youthful. Until she did. Shimmerpelt cleared her throat, shaking out her pelt as they neared the shore. "We're here, just a little further."

Cloverpaw's smile grew even larger as they neared the location, his paws sinking into the sand a little bit with each step he took. "Oh wow!" He exclaimed as he looked around and looked down at the sand, seeing a few shells that scattered the shore. He paused, pawing at a few before continuing on towards the water. "It's very pretty here. I can't wait to see what the reef looks like now!" The young cat walked far enough just until his paws were barely in the water. He purred softly, staring out into the ocean, watching the waves. "Well, I guess I'm ready."

Shimmerpelt smiled, wading just over the waves edge. The water gently lapping at her legs as it rocked back and forth. She beckoned Cloverpaw to follow her. "If you feel the waves are a bit too much, you can sink your claws in the sand to steady yourself." She advised, her voice taking a serious tone. The last thing she wanted was for him to get swept away or hurt. Turning her attention back to the water, Shimmerpelt took a few steps deeper. Fully taking in the view. The clear water gleamed in the sun's light, and she could make out the colorful coral forest just further out ahead of them.

"Oh, ok," Cloverpaw muttered, taking a few steps forward until the water was just below his belly. He gasped slightly, sinking his claws into the sand beneath him as a wave broke right in front of him and splashed him in the face. He growled softly, shaking his fur out. "I wasn't expecting that," he mumbled and blinked his eyes open, looking at Shimmerpelt. He slowly began to wade forward some more, trying his best to keep his balance. This was definately scary, but he wanted to keep up with her as much as possible. "So all paddle guardians have to do this? This is... kinda scary. The waves are so strong."

"It can be a little scary sometimes." Shimmerpelt agreed, "Especially during the storm season when the water is angry. But with practice, you're able to get used to it." She stopped when the water was at her chest, turning back to Cloverpaw. They wouldn't go out too far, she just wanted him to get a basic idea of the water for now. The ocean could be a dangerous place for an inexperienced cat. "Alright Cloverpaw, I'm going to hold your scruff, and I just want you to practice paddling your legs." She instructed, standing beside him and reaching his extra layer of skin. Her claws securely gripped the sand below them. "Keep your head above the water." She muffled through his fur.

Cloverpaw gave a quick nod before Shimmerpelt had grabbed his scruff. "Oh, um ok! I'll try!" He muttered softly. Even though she had a hold of him, he flinched when his paws raised from the ground. It took him a moment before he began paddling- well trying to. All the young cat had managed to do was splash water everywhere. He was just frantically slapping his front paws into the water. This certainly couldn't be right. He had his eyes closed from all the salt water he was getting in his face. After a bit, he sighed and just stopped paddling altogether. "That wasn't even close to being right, was it?"

"No, it was good." Shimmerpelt muffled, letting go as Cloverpaw steading himself. "It'll feel a little funny at first." She purred with a small laugh. She took a moment to think back to her own swim lessons. "Hmm, let's try it again. This time, paddle your legs as if you are walking." Maybe being a mentor wasn't exactly what she'd expected. But Shimmerpelt was a patient cat, she would take her time with Cloverpaw for as long as he needed until he felt comfortable enough to swim deeper. Maybe the next training session she would take him to Paradise Falls and practice in the still water. But all puddle guardians started in the ocean. The still water was fine to practice, but the only way to truly build your skill was in the waves. "Let's begin." She mewed, securely grabbing onto him once more.

"Like I'm walking..." Cloverpaw repeated softly as his paws raised off the sand. He tried doing exactly as she said, this time not splashing about as much. He grinned and started paddling a little faster. It still wasn't perfect, but he was sure he'd be able to eventually get the hang of it after a few lessons. The cat glanced to the side towards the shore. He dipped his head in that direction. "Do you think I can try to swim to shore by myself?" He asked as he kept the paddling up.

"Yes! Better." Shimmerpelt praised, letting go of his scruff once more. Her ears pricked when he offered to swim back to the shore. It was a better idea than going further out, she didn't see why not. "Of course, give it a try. Remember to paddle your legs as if you were walking, strong kicks, and your body afloat as if I was still holding you." The gray she-cat instructed, stepping back to give him a little space. But staying close enough to catch him if she needed to.

The young cat nodded once more as he faced the shore. Slowly, Cloverpaw began paddling as best he could towards the shore. He wasn't doing too bad, but it wasn't perfect. Every once in a a while when there was a wave, he would lose concentration and disappear underater for just a second before his head broke the surface again. At least where he was in the shallows and could nearly touch the ground, the current wasn't too strong. He coughed a little bit as he finally reached the shore. Panting, he looked back at her. "How was that?"

"Excellent!" Shimmerpelt encouraged, wading after him and shaking out her wet fur. Luckily it was warm out, they wouldn't be too cold and risk getting sick. She'd feel terrible if Cloverpaw ended up with a cold because of her. "Your form of course needs work, but for you're first time you did great." She praised, laying her gray tail on his soggy shoulder. "But we won't do it all in a day of course. Do you want to try again, or is that enough for today?" As excited as she was to be a teacher, she wouldn't overwork Cloverpaw. He was not her actual apprentice after all. He was a Destiny Seer, and she was just his self-appointed guardian.

Cloverpaw thought for a moment, shaking out his fur as he stared out at the ocean. "I'd really love to see the reef you're talking about, but I think I'm done for today," he meowed, glancing at her with a grin. His white tail swished back and forth happily. He still needed to check in with Goldensplash and see if there was anything else he needed to do today. "It was a lot of fun though! I'd definitely like to keep learning!"

Shimmerpelt smiled, feeling a small surge of pride that he'd enjoyed himself. Happy that she made him this excited by doing such a small gesture. And to think he didn't even want me to come before. "I am glad you enjoyed yourself." The gray she-cat mewed, dipping her head. "I'm sure Goldensplash and I will come up with a set schedule in the future so that we can have more outings like this." Shimmerpelt often busied her schedule, and she didn't know exactly how Seer's liked to handle their daily duties. It would work out best for everyone if she could just add it to both of their schedules. She'd do one less patrol a day in order to train Cloverpaw, it seemed fair.

Cloverpaw shrugged. "It can be whenever; we haven't been busy recently since the Clan is so healthy. The most work we've done is stock up supplies for Adderdapple," he muttered. "But, um, thanks for teaching me again!" The young cat stood up and began slowly making the trek back toward camp. "So, is all paddle guardian training like that?" He glanced over at her for a second. "Do they all start by learning to swim in the ocean?" He kind of frowned at the thought. He couldn't help but wonder what would happen if the cats didn't like the water. Could they just choose to be a dirt guardian instead?

Yes, Adderdapple. Shimmerpelt thought, a bit intrigued as she followed Cloverpaw. She knew pregnancy could be quite difficult. She wondered what herbs were specifically designated for queens. She wasn't sure and she didn't think she cared to find out for herself either. She would leave that to the Seers and Adderdapple for now. The gray she-cat snapped away from her thoughts as Cloverpaw asked about the training. "Well, yes for the first time. Just to get a feel for the ocean. But after that, we typically practiced near Paradise Falls until our mentor deemed we were ready to take on the ocean. And repeat the process from there. But you must be able to swim in the ocean in order to get your warrior name."

(Sorry for the late reply, ive been busy all day.)
"Oh, " Cloverpaw muttered, tilting his head to one side. So basically what he had just done, probably just a little longer. "Well that doesn't sound too bad." He shrugged as he carried on. When she mentioned swimming in the ocean is how they got their warrior name, he shook his head a bit. At least he didnt have to do that. Getting his warrior name must be much easier than that. Maybe there was a sign from Paradis one of the cats would get when it was his tims. Either that or when the other Seer would retire to become an elder. "But the swimming to get your warrior name sounds difficult. I'm guessing dirt Guardians would do something different to get their warrior names."

Adderdapple in Camp with [Open]Adderdapple let out a heavy sigh. She had only just found out she was expecting kits, but she could already feel the weight she was putting on. She wasn't used to it. She looked down. By her paws was a small fish. The she hadn't been very hungry lately, she was too nervous to eat, but figured she should at least try, for her kit's health. Adderdapple wondered if anybody would come to talk with her; she was in a talkative mood. [Open]
Shellpaw at Climbing Trees with [Open]Shellpaw stared up in awe. No matter how many times she'd been to the Climbing Trees, their height still amazed her. She was going to attempt to climb them, but still found climbing to be petrifying. The routine would go like this. She'd first decide to try climbing, then she'd go to the climbing trees. Next, she'd stare at them and not move an inch. Nothing would get done. She wondered why she even came to the Climbing Trees if she'd never climb them. [Open]

(no worries love, i'm just getting back settled myself, sorry these are short) (also @neighborhoodweirdo I have characters ready for palmclan, i'll post those up in a sec)
"Yes," Shimmerpelt began with a thoughtful expression, "And no. It's a given for all cats in the clan to know how to swim. In case of high water levels or bad rainstorms. So for dirt guardians it may not have to be as strict as a puddle guardian, it is still a basic requirement even if it isn't their main focus." Imagine, cats living on an island and can't swim the smallest? She was sure she would lose her head if that were the case. "Just a safety precaution, you know?" Just as Shimmerpelt was teaching Cloverpaw, even though he was doing it because it interested him and he confided to her about it, her reason for agreeing was because it was a skill that could benefit him in the future. And maybe because the she-cat enjoyed the young tom's company and the feeling of him needing her.
Coralstripe gently peaked his head into the nursery, a smile crawling over his face when he saw Adderdapple awake, "Finally awake I see." He purred, making his way inside to press himself against her. A warm purr erupted inside him. The tom sat back, inspecting her, sniffing her from head to toe. He was very proud of their unborn children, so much so he checked in on her as much as possible. Perhaps even more than the Seers. "Are you feeling alright?" He questioned, motioning towards the uneaten fish at her paws. "You haven't touched your fish, should I fetch Goldensplash?"

Cloverpaw's ears got hot with embarrassment. That was a dumb questions, wasn't it? He hadn't been an apprentice that long - or with the Clan for that matter. Of course they needed to learn how to swim. He was probably going to learn from Goldensplash anyway, but maybe he was more focused on herb based training given there is a queen right now. "Yea that makes sense, sorry for the question." As the camp enterance came into view, the young tom grinned. "I bet I can beat you back to camp!" He exclaimed as he began jogging toward the enterance. He peeked over his shoulder to see if Shimmerpelt would follow his lead.

Coralstripe looked her over once more as if he had to inspect if she was really fine. He knew his mate sometimes worried, and she was prone to overthink things at times. Something was the matter, but the ginger tabby knew it would be best to let her tell him on her own terms. "I just want to be sure." He meowed with a soft sigh, reaching out his tail to lay it at her side. A mischievous smile came across his maw and he joked, puffing out his chest, "Perhaps you just missed my handsome presence." If Coralstripe knew how to get her out of her anxiety. "Hmm, just went out on dawn patrol. Checked the borders." He continued with a light shrug as she asked about his day, "I don't have to be out again until later, maybe I'll take you out for a walk if you like? Free your mind off your worries."
Shimmerpelt shook her head, "There are no stupid questions with me." He could ask her as many questions as he liked actually. She loved his questions in fact. Most cats found her informative speeches boring at times. If anything Cloverpaw's questions excited her. Questions: another one of her guilty pleasures. Her ears pricked at the white tom's next words. For a second, she stood confused before taking off after him. "Ha, we'll see about that!" She laughed, taking off ahead. For the moment, she felt like an apprentice again. She was always so caught up in her Water Sage duties she'd never allowed herself the time to have fun. Who would have thought Cloverpaw would be just the cat to bring it back out of her?

Coralstripe thought for a second. He would have been more at ease if Adderdapple ate it herself, but he didn't want to pressure her. If she wasn't hungry he knew she would eat before she got too hungry. Maybe he would catch something for her on their way. "I'll just go ahead and return it back, it's fine. Patrols are returning soon anyway, I'm sure someone will take it." He reached down to grab the fish before making his way into the clearance, dropping the fish on the fresh-kill pile. Licking the taste away from his lips, he turned to wait on his mate to follow.

"Hmmm," He began, glancing over at her, noticing that she grimaced. He didn't want to go too far for he wasn't too sure she was really okay as she said. "Not too far, we'll just walk along the shore." He didn't need her overworking herself. She had to be as healthy as possible for her sake and the kits' sake. Coralstripe began towards the entrance at a steady pace, dipping his head to the cats that passed them by as they entered.
