warriorcats.com/content/article/revealed-official-details-from-wind-a-starless-clan-5This title sure is something lol. Since they usually just name it "Exclusive: Official Cover Reveal!" instead but seeing as Edelweiss already did that reveal yesterday... The cats featured on the cover are apparently Splashtail in the front (middle), Frostpaw on the right and then Whistlepaw on the left. I was right about Splashtail at least (yay) but did not think the cat on the right was Frostpaw since she just looks rather different from her Shadow as well as River cover art imo. I thought she was Crowfeather while Whistlepaw was one of the still kicking Tigerstar clones lmao.

Putting the blurb up again just because (my reasoning is that this is how all of the other covers in the most recent years got revealed together with the blurb instead of seperate from it):
Frostpaw has returned to the lake just in time to reveal all she knows at the Gatheringโbut the Clans are reluctant to believe an apprentice whoโs already admitted to lying about her visions in the past, and she is forced to take refuge in ShadowClan as Splashtail seizes control of her home.
While the other Clan leaders debate whether to interfere any further in RiverClan affairs, Nightheart has his paws full teaching Clan ways to the two park cats who followed him home, and Sunbeamโs efforts to fit in as the newest member of ThunderClan are hampered by her concerns for her mother, who is paying for her treachery with exile and illness.
As Berryheartโs schemes take an alarming new turnโand Splashtailโs ambitions turn toward violenceโa few catsโ efforts may not be enough to preserve the peace

Why does Frostpaw look like a 70 year old man. I think she also looks quite different from her previous two cover versions tbh: River: Shadow: Did not want to put up the full covers since they take up a lot of space btw. But anyways, she looks kinda off on the Wind cover for me (I thought this was Crowfeather instead lol). Frostpaw has way more of a white muzzle on this new cover than she did on the first ASC one as well as even less on the third one. And why are her eyes blue on it? I know she has blue-green eyes but considering that she has been shown with eyes that look more green than blue, her going from that to this outright pale blue just seems very strange imo.

Why does Frostpaw look like a 70 year old man. Agreed, completely. I also thought it was Crowfeather at first too, to the point where I feel like whoever confirmed who those cats are got it wrong and that it actually is Crowfeather. I just find it difficult to believe that the design could be gotten so wrong after she was on two covers prior to this. Like you said she has green/blue eyes, and even then they have always been showcased as more so green. It just doesn't add up that she'd suddenly have deep blue eyes and a white muzzle.

Whistlepaw was really the only one who caught me off guard, but nice to know her eye color at least. Hopefully she'll actually play a larger role, but considering how minor Fidgetflake and especially Leafstar were in the last two books, I'm not holding my breath on it either.
Regarding Frostpaw's eye color though, I feel like it's worth noting it's been depicted as being blue on the website, so it's possible Owen was going off of that. It's also not like she's interacted with Nightheart or Sunbeam at all so far (obviously that'll change next book), so her eye color hasn't even been described in-text yet. For all we know, they could actually be blue and it's the first two covers that are wrong. And even then, it's not like this means much either because look at Dovewing!

True, but considering how different she looked on the two previous covers she was featured on ( River and Shadow) with her eyes being more green, it just caught me rather off guard to see her with blue ones on this one for Wind instead. I really thought it was Crowfeather until the confirmation of who it actually is today. I mean, just look at him on his SE and then at this version of Frostpaw again (I know it's lighter but still): Also, while it's true that Frostpaw has indeed been depicted with blue eyes on her website character profile, she's also been shown to be a color point as well as fluffy on there but still always appears as solid grey and short-furred on the (by now) three covers she got featured on so far. Like, I'd love it if she actually looked like on her character sheet, but this just seems inconsistent to me.

So does this mean Whistlepaw might be prominent? I'd hope so, but then again Fidgetflake was a glorified extra in Sky I'm not really expecting much.

lol did not expect either of the two cats on the side to be Frostpaw or Whistlepaw. And nooooo I guess this means that Splashtail's eyes are canonically green. I always imagined him with blue eyes :c

Iโm glad that thereโs Whistlepaw and Splashtail, but I guess Frostpaw went through so much stress that she became an entirely different looking cat

Frostpawโs eyes looked purple to me
Whistlepaw is supposed to be a gray tabby, right? she looks totally brown here, it doesnโt even seem like harsh lighting at this point

I still dig the fanon designs that show him with heterochromia (usually one blue and one green eye) as it just fits him well imo.

Not gonna lie, but Shadow had the best cover in this arc. Wind's cover? It looks a bit strange. Frostpaw looks so...off. I thought she was Crowfeather.

Shadow is still my favorite cover and the best one so far. Hopefully Star (if that really is the final book title) will look better. Because so far, I only truly like two out of the five recealed ASC covers (River and Shadow). Sky looked strange to me in regards to Nightheart's body position/the perspective as well as Fidgetflake's and Sunbeam's faces being weirdly washed out, Thunder would be among my favs if it wasn't for Finchlight's bug eyes as well as Sunbeam's body position (walking foward like Nightheart on Sky) again looking a bit off to me and finally Wind making Frostpaw look unrecognizable from her previous cover depictions (she truly looks like grandpa Crowfeather). The rest of the cover looks fine overall with the background sky and dramatic lighting but it contributes to the other two characters looking different from their pelt descriptions though as Whistlepaw looks like a brown tabby when she is a grey one instead while Splashtail looks ginger or light brown even though he's actually a dark brown tabby.

Honestly this isn't a super bad cover, I actually rather like it. The background is really pretty, I just don't like how Frostpaw looks. Splashtail should look more evil and less cute, but he doesn't look bad.
