So there's rumors of these hellish dogs who roamed a church and burnt the wood, leaving marks. Black Shuck dogs are seen at graveyards, lakes / large pools of water, and they're omens of death.
I've always been interested in this legend, ever since I was a wee child. I dunno if it's true, but stories on the internet (they're probably fake lol) say they're utterly terrifying.
Thoughts?

This seems like a really interesting thing tbh. I'm surprised this hasn't been in more mainstream media since it seems a little more distinct than other cryptids similar to it.

One of my favorite folklore beasties :0 I think its story is pretty cool! I agree that it's definitely fake, but I am a huge sucker for spooky stories.

Kinda reminds me of The Grim from Harry Potter in terms of description (black dogs) and omen meaning (death). harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/GrimThe first quote about it on this wiki article also sounds very similar to this so called "Black Shuck": First time he saw it (near a playground at night): Second time he saw it (shaped out of tea leaves in a cup): Third time he saw it (as an ominous dog-shaped cloud in the sky): Fourth time he saw it (on school grounds): He sees it one more time in the books (where he spots it on the cover of a book in the Flourish and Blotts bookstore fittingly titled Death Omens: What to Do When You Know the Worst is Coming). As it turns out, this had not been a grim but rather Harry's godfather Sirius in his animagus form (basically a shapeshifter) all along. But in the books, Ron tells Harry about his uncle Bilius who had allegedly seen a grim and died only a few days later. So even if it was not a grim in Harry's case, these beings could still be real in the context of the Harry Potter universe (since they do have other creatures such as werewolves there as well).

They're known as quite a few things actually. Depends on where you're from. Grim is another popular term for them. This is actually an interesting Wikipedia page regarding them and their lore in different cultures: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_dog_(folklore)
