Lexa crouches down so that she was eye level with her sister. "Oh, I know you can handle yourself Marie. I'm just passing along the message." She places her hand on her shoulder and squeezes it. She really hoped the rogues wouldn't try to go for the pack. "Me and you have got to protect Leon now."
Darcy glances up when she notices Jack limping in. "Look what the wolf dragged in." She said sarcastically. "Are you hungry? We have more than enough food."

Maria slightly smiled as Lexa crouched down to her eye level and rested her hand on her shoulder. With a slight chuckle she asked, “What are you talking about sis, how are we supposed to protect that big goofball?”

(Starter time woop!)
Javalle sifted through the number of books left on his work counter and organized them neatly onto a shelved cart by genre and author name. Though he was only working at the library part-time, Javalle already felt like the library was his second home. He was already told he was a natural with customers, and sorting the books themselves was almost therapeutic to him. The quiet, calm nature of the library soothed his senses as well; everything seemed to be going just right.
The doorbell to the library jingled gently as Javalle was greeted to his first customers of the day: a family of three which included a young girl. The girl in question held up a book about the various types of wild cats found around he world.
"Interesting choice." Javalle said with a slight grin. " If you're looking for more, there should be an animal science section by the kid's corner." He redirected the family by pointing to a lounge area not far to the right of where they were standing, marked as the kid's corner by a colorful carpet. After the child returned the book through the return slot (they had to stand on their tiptoes to reach it, poor thing) Javalle scanned the barcode and determined where to place it on the shelf.
Hearing the sound of the welcoming door's bell once more, Javalle turned to greet his next guest.
"Welcome to the Griffindale library. What may I help you find?"

Despite no longer feeling nauseous, Jack didn’t have much of an appetite, but he couldn’t take his medication without something in his stomach. Besides, it would be rude not to. He nodded and mutter a “thanks” before hobbling over to a nearby chair and stiffly lowered himself into his seat. Stupid leg. It’s going to take some getting used to. It’s definitely going to make the job search a bit harder, once his body’s recovered the best it could.

Leon waves his hand to Javalle and makes his way over to the counter. "Hello, I was wondering if you had any books about the environment or about nature in general." He figured the library did but wanted to see if there was anything specific. He planned on using these books as an example for an event.
"That he is but that is why he needs us." Lexa says with a grin. "Without, he would be chatting with the trees and talking like a crazy person." She loved her brother dearly but he could be a little much at times.
"What do you have a taste for?" Darcy questioned as she makes her way over to one of the cabinets. "We have way to many snacks along with some cooked food in the fridge." She glances back to Jack eyeing him. "We also have ingredients for a sandwich."

Javalle greeted Leon with a nod and waved back. As he finished his question, Javalle thought it over for a moment, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. There were plenty of environmental books in all different sections of the library, but how can he be sure what specific subject Leon wanted?
"Could you tell me what in particular you're looking for? That would help narrow the list down." Javalle asked, fiddling slightly with the pendant around his neck.

“I think I’ll make a sandwich, if that’s alright,” Jack said. A sandwich would probably be easy on his stomach and it would fill him up enough to take his pain killers. Just in time too. He could feel his left leg throbbing painfully again, just as bad as it was when he woke up in the hospital. His left hand gripped his leg in a vain attempt to somehow sooth it, just needed to put up with it for a little while longer.

Maria chuckled a tiny bit as she imagined her older brother getting so lost in his fascination with trees and nature. Honestly by her own admission she was also the obsessive type, but she wasn’t as bad as Leon. With a smile she said, “Yeah Lexa, I could see him doing that. At least I am not as bad as him right sis?”

Leon realized quickly that he should have been a little more specific. "Sorry um but something to do with the forests mainly the ones in Oregon or about certain trees. Oh and maybe something about animals living in Oregon." He had a tendency to just assume people could read his mind sometimes.
"Nah you are nothing like that." Lexa answered as she lowers her hand. "You are an introvert and you like to have your space. Some of our pack members could learn from you!"
"Knock yourself out." Darcy moved so that she was leaning against the counter. She takes notice of the pain expression on his face but doesn't say anything. Roger looked concerned but keeps his mouth shut. He didn't want to constantly jump in unless Jack asks for help.

Listening intently to Leon's description, Javalle reminisced fondly on his first time moving to Oregon. Immersing himself with nature helped him cope after his flight from Canada. He was also quite acquainted with the subject of local wildlife. Javalle enjoyed visiting the nature reserves in Oregon from time to time as it a!ways provided inspiration for his wood carving hobby. Returning his thoughts back to Leon, Javalle gave him the directions on where to go. "Oh, yes. There should be a booth directing to anything local at the entrance of the history section. Once there, Oregon wildlife books should be to your right. I hope you find what you're searching for. Let me know if you need any help." (Side note: I actually had no idea were Oregon was in relevance to Canada when making my application but it turns out that it's pretty close! Also hello, Hushabye) |

Jack chose to ignore the worried glances he was getting, choosing instead on making and eating his food. He knew they mean well, and it was kind of them to worry, but he still couldn’t help himself in thinking he’s was a burden to them. Nothing more than a potential ticking time bomb with his condition. He banished those thoughts from his head, as much as he hated the thought of burdening anyone, he needed help for the time being. If Roger and Darcy choose to be of aid, who was he to deny them.
He let himself think about something else. As soon as his leg was feeling better, he wanted to stop by town whenever possible. He remembered seeing a library when he first arrived at Griffindale. Jack hoped to find something that’ll give more insight to his curse and maybe a way to cure it. He had to start somewhere. Finishing his meal, Jack looked around for his pill bottle and his heart sank slightly. He had stupidly left it in his bag. His bag that was still sitting all the way in his room. You’d think having a healing factor would make pain much more bearable, since he absolutely did not want to walk right now. But he was going to have to if he wanted to make the horrible aching go away faster.
Slowly, Jack got up from his chair and inched himself forward without looking at his new roommates who he was sure were staring at him. He managed to make it to the doorway to his room before he had to stop, leaning heavily on the door frame and stifling a groan.

"Maybe we need to get him some crutches." Roger muttered mostly to himself. He hated seeing Jack just hobble around without some kind of support. Darcy felt bad for Jack but she hoped that once he shifted that his healing factor would fix him up. He looked way to pathetic.
Leon nodded his head. "Okay thank you!" He walks towards the history section and starts browsing. He manages to find one of the books he was looking for and starts skimming the pages.
"Well there is Josh for one thing and his little group. " Lexa made a face when she said Josh's name. They had dated in high school and that had been a terrible experience. "A few of the werebears and then there is Marsha." Marsha was a former friend whom Josh ended up cheating on her with.

After taking serval long, deep breaths, Jack forced himself steady and pushed himself to his bag. He all but tore the damn thing apart trying to find his pills, but once he found them, he shoved a dose into his mouth and waited for them to take effect. Jack’s body was such a contradiction. It healed too face, yet too slow. His major scars healed while the typical after surgery pains lingered. And all too quickly as he had taken his medication, did the pain disappear. Jack sat on his bed for a moment before making up his mind.
He had to go to the library. He needed answers.
Jack got back up and made his way back into the kitchen, limping as usual. As if the spike in pain hadn’t happened at all.
“I hope I’m not asking for much right now,” Jack asked, avoiding their concerned gaze, “But… Um… Is there a chance one of you can drop me off at the town library?”

Maria blinked as she listened to her older sister list of the people that she did not like. She recognized the name of her former boyfriend. However, Marsha being mentioned kind of surprised her. With a raised eyebrow she asked, “Wait I thought that you and Marsha were friends, what happened?”

"I can!" Roger answered as he rises to his feet. He wasn't doing anything right now and wouldn't mind helping out Jack. Darcy starts making her way to the stairs. "Have fun with that." She remarked. Roger makes his way over to Jack. "Ignore her, she may seem mean but that's only cause your new."
"We were until I caught them making out one day." Lexa's eyes flashed for a moment before returning to normal. "Ever since she has been rude to me no matter what. Turns out she never liked me go figure."

It did make him wonder though, how many members of the pack were made rather than born were there? He couldn’t have been the first one, surely.

Roger goes into the kitchen to grab his keys before walking back to Jack. "Follow me!" He makes his way outside where his red Subaru was waiting for them. "It's unlocked so just hop on in!"
