...or am I just weird? I'm rereading it right now and it's honestly even better the second time around? And I see a lot of people not care about it much.

I liked it, but I found it to be a slog in some areas. Nightheart and Sunbeam's POVs while on the journey felt very, very repetitive to me. Also not fond of, for how dire the situation seemed to be, the shortage of herbs only resulted in one fatality.

Thought it was decent. I'm neutral on it. I was super hyped for it as it was my first Warriors book I was going to be reading without a single spoiler ever (usually I don't care but I'm trying to be spoiler-free for this arc to amp up the shock factor)... but it was just kind of mediocre. Nothing special about it except like Rowankit's death

I feel like a lot of it not being a popular book might have to do with Sky still being a relatively new book in comparison to others, at least to a lesser extent.
The biggest gripes I've seen people have with the book though however (and which I do agree with in terms of the first point), is the BrambleSquirrel argument in it (which was about the brief prey plot with WindClan in the previous book iirc) as well as how both Sparkpelt and Finchlight are portrayed in the beginning chapters.
In regards to BrambleSquirrel drama, most people are (rightfully imo) just tired of it.
As for Sparkpelt and Finchlight, the general thought on that in the overall fandom is that it was a mischaracterization (some people even think it's character assassination for them in order to make Nightheart look better, I've also seen people claim it to be misogynistic but...let's better not get into that). I personally also thought it was a mischaracterization on Finchlight's part (but not really Sparkpelt's or Squirrelflight's) until reconsidering that it also made sense for her to just be tired of being in the middle of seeing her mother and brother argue while trying to be there for both of them (as showcased in River).
So yeah, those are usually the two points I see people bring up to argue against the book and I myself also voiced those two specific instances when it initially came out.

I really liked Sky just like I really liked River and Shadow.

I was expecting it to be meh from the spoilers I saw, but to actually read it was different (no offense to whomever posted the spoilers ha, Hollyfall, if I recall correctly, you did a great job, but reading the books itself is much different from reading the summaries, hence why I actually read the books anymore). There were a lot of things I really liked about it: I found the catmint journey quite enjoyable really, it was just a fun time, and I found NightSun to be fun as well. The whole carnival escapade where NightSun steal a chicken was great. The whole "big reveal" at the Gathering (reveal to the other Clans that Mistystar and Reedwhisker had died) was great, I loved how akward Mothwing and Owlnose were and how terrible at lying they were, that's possibly one of my favorite scenes honestly. The whole Sunbeam catching BlazeLight "kissing" was hilarious to picture. Rowankit's death was actually a little emotional, probably thanks to other cats actuallly caring, which doesn't happen with deaths in this series a lot anymore. Frostpaw got more personality, though I especially liked how irritated she was with everyone (Mothwing, Duskfur, Fidgetflake, Owlnose, even Splashtail), she's really more fiesty than everyone seems to associate her as being. Petty Sunbeam was fun, and I liked how she would complain about being so lonely, when, like, 3 cats in her clan were obviously trying to hang out with her and cheer her up. (Flaxfoot, Pouncestep, Gullswoop). Nightheart was funny with his little quips and petty thoughts. I especially love how he was thinking that Bramblestar really isn't fit to be leader, but as soon as he gives him something important to do, he's religiously praising him and defending him to Bayshine, saying that they can't disobey their leader. Owlnose is great to read about, I really like how pathetic he is. Lots more characterization for Fidgetflake, and most of the RiverClan cats get something to do, which is nice. I did find myself groaning whenever I finished a Frostpaw chapter and had to go to Nightheart/Sunbeam, cause her story is the most interesting, but I quickly got into whatever the next chapter was. Overall I didn't mind it. Then again I am very optimistic when it comes to things like books, movies or shows, always trying to see something positive in them (unlike how I am when it comes to real life, lol). I get how some may not like it, but I personally liked it a lot. Congrats to whomever actually reads this wall of text. I went on quite the long tangeant 😅
